Won't let me comment! You don't need to pay for top up. Just select a £10 top up then don't activate/top up the sim when it arrives (use a o2, giff gaff or tesco sim). Not sure how to unlock.

giffgaff can't be used to unlock, only O2.
However giffgaff, Tesco, and Lycamobile sims (payg and contracts) share the O2 network so they work fine on this mobile without needing to unlock. Soon TalkTalk also since they will be moving from Vodafone to O2.

O2 don't include chargers with (most) of their mobiles. You can take the invoice to an O2 store to get a discount on a charger.
Your old mobile charger will work as well as long as it uses a USB cable. Or get an Anker or similar quality usb charger off Amazon, etc.
I charged my one off a TV USB port once
When we move to our new home we are replacing all wall sockets with these:

Also, O2 doesn't give chargers for any orders 'Like New' or even Brand New ones.

Really impressed with this phone, for £30 I wasn't expecting much but damn if they don't perform well! I got 2 and they're obviously brand new, been playing with them over the weekend and no faults whatsoever, battery life is great. Super fast and no slowdown as long as you keep your open apps under control. Will definitely be picking more up if they come back in!

Agree. I don't think you should even consider using a pair of headphones bundled with a used/refurb/ 'as new' phone purely for reasons of personal hygiene. As for the SIM removal tool, a paperclip does perfectly fine. This is a £75 phone being sold for £30, I wouldn't expect a proper box, headphones, SIM removal tools, front screen film etc etc at this price. If it works well and doesn't have major dings or scrapes I'd be perfectly happy.

Did not work for me. After 4 days I received text and email from [email protected] stating that unlatching requests did not extend to Pay Monthly Data Sims. Scared to try again for credit checks.

I think all "Like New" mobiles from O2 exclude headphones for hygienic reasons. Do you really want someone else's earwax in your ears?
And paper clips work perfectly to open the SIM slot.
To have 3/3 bad phones is incredible bad luck. Did you break a mirror walking under a ladder recently?

Long time lurker but had to join to vent my frustrations.
For the love of God don't buy this if its to be gifted. You will look a right prat! Don't do it!
We bought 3 "PERFECT" Idol3's in our household and they were delivered next day. They all gone back for various faults. What a complete waste of time. We never buying non-new devices from O2 site again at ANY price.
1st phone: Plain packaging. No front screen film. NO HEADPHONES! NO SIM REMOVING PIN! Phone looked perfect but battery was completely flat and could not hold any charge. After charging overnight (with charging animation) was still flat in the morning. Could only turn on with charger connected.
2nd phone: Plain packaging. No front screen film. No back film. NO HEADPHONES! NO SIM REMOVING PIN! Phone screen had scuff marks top right about an inch long. Clearly visible and couldn't buff clean. Looked like scratched with sandpaper but screen felt smooth. Came half charged and charged ok overnight.
3rd phone: Plain packaging. No front screen film. NO HEADPHONES! NO SIM REMOVING PIN! Phone had a deep black scratch or crack across the silver bezel near the corner where USB port is. The SIM tray came apart from the SIM cover when removed, and when closed the SIM cover was recessed in more so than the other two phones. Phone came half charged and charged ok overnight.
We considered keeping the 3rd Idol but even using the SIM trays from the other two was still recessed when closed, like it went in too far. The edges of the SIM slot felt sharp when passing your fingers over it. Annoyingly this is right where your thumb would rest when holding the phone to your ear in your left hand. Also could not be certain if the bezel was just scratched or cracked so just returned the whole lot.

I was thinking in doing this as well... any one knows how many devices can u unlock having an o2 contract?
hotukdeals81
25 Oct 162#61
Here is the solution for unlocking. Minimum cost nil/£5 maximum you choose
The easiest way is to have it unlocked by requesting someone who has O2 contract. I could not find anyone in my circle of friends who had O2 contract. Here is what i did after many unsuccessful attempts from unlocking sites. It would take 3 to 4 days.
1. Purchased the cheapest sim only contract from O2. £5/month for data sim and it is rolling contract.
2. Received the sim next day and straight away requested the unlock code.
3. Received the code next day from O2.
4. As i had two phones now it is time to have the second one unlocked.
Sim comes with 500mb of data, no minutes and 100 text. If you feel that you don't need that sim anymore give 30 days notice and end the contract as per terms. No credit rating issue here aswell, i asssume, as contract is not cancelled whereas it is ended by giving notice. You can also cancel it within 14 days and pay for the allowances used.
are this ones also locked? I was wondering if refurbished ones might not be...has any one received it and tried? thabks
