Average price on Amazon seems to be £60-£70. AKG products are usually high quality.

I'm not sure you understood my comment. Either way, as an acoustic engineer I just wanted to give my advice - which I stand by.

Absolutely, if you're going to wear something for hundreds of hours it might as well be something half-decent.
I reckon they're a bargain if you pick them up for around £150 (which is still cheap for headphones).

X2's are entry-level?

Very different style of headphone (closed back / on ear / portable). If someone spent £700 on them they have clearly lost their mind, but it's more likely a placeholder listing for somewhere which does not have them in stock.
These are larger over ear headphones and designed for home listening. I haven't heard the K240 but I was dissatisfied with the low-end response on the K702. Something like the Fidelio X2 would be an entry-level recommendation for gaming and music.

I have had 2 pair of these just the basic ones the 451s and the 430 , one worked with my tablet and android phone these are so comfortable that you could wear them for hours on end and they would not hurt your ears , i cant remember which ones i had for my android phone but they could answer the phone and i could adjust the volume but mainly they were for my tablet when i watched films , one pair broke and amazon would only swap like for like meaning i would have had to pay more (double) because they never had in the blue ones i had bought in a sale i think i paid something like £25 for them but the other ones never worked with my android the same way i could not use the volume or i could not press the button to end a call or answer one with it as it was for iphones so ive been waiting for the same sale of the blue model i had , but these are by far the best pair of head phones you can own if your on a budget as ive just seen a pair going for over £700,i will just keep watching for them to come back down to the same price ,so if you want a pair of headphones which are very comfortable just wait for the models i have spoken about you will not be dissapointed

It might be head specific, the metal bar at the top digs into my head.

Man, didn't know the low frequencies were that bad on the K240's.
The 668b's I've found are extremely comfortable once you change the ear pads to some velour ones. I can wear them as long as I can any headphones(I always have a limit where I need to let my ears breathe).
In terms of being sharp, they definitely can be, but I also think they're not quite as shrill after some use. And if you can use them with an EQ(I dont like using anything without an EQ, to be honest), you can reduce the extreme highs a bit to moderate it.
These definitely aren't perfect headphones by any means, but for the money, it's pretty much *impossible* to beat.

I find the K240's have too much of an aggressive roll off with lower frequencies.
Compared to the 668b's you mentioned, which are very uncomfortable (my experience). They have more bass but not that much more. They are sharper and more sibilant compared to the K240's. I'm in no way a bass head, I like to hear/feel bass
I've never heard the 681's but I much prefer the hammock type headband, same with these. I can't recommend the 668b's for comfort.

Decent for beginner home studio use or for less high quality stuff like along side video editing, not worth it for competitive gaming or hi fidelity use, you'd be best off investing more in those casee

Good headphones. Very durable and comfortable. They don't have a very strong low end so if you like bass I would look elsewhere.

Just bare in mind these aren't really designed to be used with a smartphone and for everyday listening. That's not to say you can't, but it's not their intended purpose. But if you work in a studio/recording environment, they're a solid budget pair.

These are absolutely meant for everyday listening. They are 'reference-style' headphones, but that really only refers to their tonal characteristics. Just because that's ideal for studio work doesn't mean they aren't also perfectly well suited to home use. Personally, these types of headphones(neutral, open-backed) are my favorite. They dont overly accentuate bass, feeding in a more neutral mix throughout the different frequencies, which allows you to hear everything more clearly.
It's particularly fantastic for gaming. Open-backed feature, especially. Makes for a more immersive experience.
Also, if somebody wants to get this style of headphone on an even tighter budget, check out Superlux 681's for £25.
I have the 668b's, which are also only £32 and have very, very similar sound, with the biggest difference probably just being the headband. These are quality headphones that totally rival the AKG 240's here in terms of sound. Build quality just isn't quite as good.
