My niece is studying makeup and skincare at college and has asked Santa for a "Hollywood"-style makeup mirror.
The good thing about these is that they're battery powered - long-lasting LED bulbs (though it says non-replaceable).
Looking on Amazon and other websites these mirrors can be crazy prices, even the battery options (though obviously you pay much more for an AC-powered mirror).
Blurb says:
Hollywood 24 LED Bulb Mirror.
Coated metal frame with battery operated LED light bulbs - complete with hooks ready for hanging.
Warm White lights, 24 LED bulbs.
Long lasting bulbs (non replaceable).
Can be hung portrait or landscape to suit your own home decor.
Dimensions: 60 x 80 x 6cm (Approx.)
Requires 6 x AA batteries (not included).
As this mirror is a heavy object, for your safety we strongly recommend that a qualified technician should carry out the installation. Check mirror periodically to ensure no fittings have become loose or need attention.
Care instructions: wipe clean with a soft damp cloth, and dry immediately. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or scourers.
It's impossible for me to say what's in stock and where, but worth looking if you're swinging by  I'll be trying a few Glasgow stores in the coming days.

Saw 2 of these at the Bedford store earlier.... Not the greatest quality. Decided not to buy.

Disappointing. Will try to see one for myself soon - usually B&M are quite helpful if you want to see something in the flesh

I was halfway through building my own with some ikea lighting units. The B&M one is slightly cheaper but felt significantly so.

Good find, but can anyone please confirm if the lights are bright enough to actually put on makeup for women or to shave for men? I have read that a lot of these LED mirrors are totally useless as the light projected is totally insufficient for the purpose intended. Also can you use rechargeables or are you forced to use the very expensive Duracells?

My rather clumsy assumption is that LED bulbs (and torches) seem to be more efficient and brighter than in the earlier incarnations so hoping this will be quite good! Will have to see it for myself though. Can't see any reviews of it, or anyone discussing it anywhere.
Obviously as it's battery powered that will affect it somewhat but I've had plenty of battery powered LEDs that generate great light.

I have a 1XAA battery powered LED torch that's blindingly bright, so one would assume that the light produced by 6XAAs would be bright enough.

Also interested in this for applying makeup during dark winter mornings. Please update the thread when you've seen one in person and I shall do the same.

I can see listings on ebay using these same stock images (cheapest price £64.99 before P&P! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hollywood-24-LED-Bulb-Mirror-/302015824551 ) and this photo is included:
