They are stated as waterproof and also so seem to have self adhesive backs. As a bonus they come with Remote Control Box that plugs between the 12V power supply and the LED strip (so you don't need to buy the connector for converting your 12V power supply to screwable contacts) and also a remote control to change colour. Seems like a steal of a deal.

Under cupboards, on top of cupboards, under bars, in gardens, these have lots of applications. I was looking on Amazon at some yesterday, if it came with a power supply I would have already ordered this.

these require 6A 12V power supply, which i think can be as expensive as the strip itself. but I have an old laptop power supply for which i am getting this to convert to 12v - http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/252355011897

That ebay converter is only rated for 2A maximum and the leds need 5 to 6A.
Best to get a good 12V 6A supply instead.

Awesome thanks! How would you go about reconnecting the cut pieces, I.e what would you need?

Something like this or these. Just be sure to select the four way/wire connectors.

I bought the shorter version via Amazon prime and stuck it to the back of my TV for an ambilight style effect.
It has joiner cables and came in 4 sections.
Colours are nice but the sticky back comes unstuck easily.
The tv remote also randomly makes it change colour so I picked a colour then covered the IR receiver

This might be quite helpful for you guys that are wondering what to make with these, this guy is really good. In this video he makes a light shelf but there are plenty more similar projects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-ZLcAF3ar0
