Weigh up cost of electric with cost of heater. This is cheap but a more expensive oil filled radiator would probably cost less to use and be cheaper in the long run.

Strange, why would oil-filled be cheaper to run? Thanks.

If anything, a convector heater should use less electricity as it is better at providing the heat quickly. But in terms of energy in, heat out, all electric heaters are the same efficiency.

i'm going for.. uses the same energy to heat up but the oil retains its temperature for longer therfore it can 'click off' then 'click back on' when the oil is getting cold whereas the electic heater is always on?

A convector heater doesn't use the same amount of energy to heat up as it is not full of oil. It produces useful heat virtually instantly.

These convector heaters also have built in thermostats so once room gets upto temp they will cut in and out...

The heat you pay for is the heat you get. The one exception is storage heaters, where you can pay for the heat at a cheap time of the day and get it at another time.

I'm fan of convectors but oil-filled are provably more comfortable because they are constant source of heat. Convectors are either full on or cold. Efficiency is same!

For convectors I like silent and powerful air stream that quickly heat the entire room...
