But just because it's £2.75 in Tesco - nearly £14 a kilo - doesn't make that the "normal price" and this "cheap". I aim for £5 a kilo for extra mature, and this is easily achievable eg Farmfoods or Home Bargains large blocks own brand. Sainsburys own brand "normal" price is £5.34 a kilo from memory. So £5 a kilo is ok, but not amazing. £13.75 a kilo is way overpriced.

Lidl's Valley Spire extra mature cheddar is under £5.00 a kilo all the time. £4.70 ish I think.

Some Home Bargains shops sell cheese. Although it isn't as cheap as the Cathedral City blocks in Poundland it's still good value. I think a 500gm block is around £2.99. It's really nice if you like strong/mature cheddar.

Always loved going into Poundland, always something new. These days they have gone to commercialised and each shop works to same 'plan' with ranges smaller but more of the same. Prefer now to go Home Bargains!

Farm Foods were selling 350 g cheddar for 99 p for ages , but last week when I looked could not see any.
Worth keeping an eye on , if you go there.
The Poundshop sell lots of items that you think are are cheap because of the brand and the packaging , but they get their stuff specially made up and usually a smaller size. In this instance the Poundshop Cathedral city is only 200g instead of usual 350 g or 300 g packs.
