LAP have updated their USB sockets and Screwfix are selling the older ones cheap. Don't see cheap chrome sockets mutch. There are other designs but the price will probably be more but I was only really looking at white inserts.
im not well enough informed to know the appropriate use of a metal back box but the plastic type are for fitting to Plaster board type walls, there is a size difference between the two types although they do both fit the same face plates.

Would be nice to have the figure though... the value might depend on the manufacturer. Also if you fill your house with these things (and other devices on standby) it starts to add up.

What is the power draw on these when nothing is plugged in? I'm assuming the switch is for the 3-pin power and so the USB ports are like leaving a charger plugged in all the time. I realise it won't be drawing 2.1amps constantly, but there is going to be a residual 'vampire' draw unless you can switch it off.

Standby current will be very low, if you want to save power & money then making sure you don't overfill your electric kettle will save significantly more power over the year!!

Yeah those are standard UK 3-Pin mains wall sockets, Crabtree are in the same ball park as MK with regards to quality and reliability imho.
Great price for quality and safe wall sockets.

I don't know why people keep posting these. 2.1 across two ports, not each. And you have to pay for the USB for standby mode even when not in use. Unlike a real charger you can turn it off for good! Waste of time, and the cost of running them, adds up over the years. Basically paying for nothing!

Low power so avoid. After buying the 3.1amp version I found that the family would use the newer one avoiding the original 2.1amp we had.

I need about 60 sockets but want the usb less ones. any offers anyones seen? please.
Review numerous previous posts for reasons why you shouldn't buy these things (including the fact that they are 'always on').

I changed 4 LAP sockets in my living room during July this year, 3 out of 4 broke (won't switch ON/OFF). However, Screwfix compensated me for the poor quality sockets. I would spend my money wisely, few quids more means you won't be changing these within a few months. Avoid.

Voted hot, but agree that 3.1amp is going to be more use for modern devices. They do plain white 2.1amp (shared) version (2 for £15) if you don't need the decorative/vanity aspect of chrome! :stuck_out_tongue:
£18 for 2 atm but if there is some discount code you can always get a few bob knocked off. Funnily enough they aren't ASTA Approved so I am a bit dubious of their rating/quality.

I bought one of these, from Screwfix, a couple of months ago for under £8. How can this be a deal? COLD.
