In november mid week return flights London Stansted to oslo can be found for £4. Ryanair now fly to gardemoen which is oslos main airport and is 25 mins by train and costs £10 each way to the city. I recommend buying a oslo pass for £30 a day which gives access to all museums and public transport. The viglands statue park is always free and is the best tourist attraction in oslo. Dont forgot it will be cold in Oslo. Alcohol and restaurants are expensive so dont forgot to bring buy some tax free.

book an hotel with a buffet breakfast and make this the main meal of the day. Norway is extremely expensive two soft drinks and two bars of chocolate from sweetshop like 12 pounds. worth a short sweet visit. loved Oslo.

Do NOT buy the Oslo Pass unless you plan to travel a lot and go to a number of museums covered by the Oslo Pass. Many are free. Oslo is small. You can walk most places in the centre. Do your sums first. You are better off buying a book of tickets if all you need to do is get on and off buses. Oslo is a great place to visit at any time of year. But a tad expensive.

You can do it cheap if you aren't fussy. We hitch-hiked from the airport to the city and only took 2 hours.

I must admit, I took adv of cheap flights in September to Oslo for 3 nights with the wife. Paid £20 pp for flights and got a decent apartment through airbnb. We wanted a cheap weekend but ended up spending an absolute fortune despite being fairly "considered" about spending!

The cheap flight doesn't really matter when you start to add in transport to Stansted, travel food, the £20 train journey in Oslo, £30 A DAY to see the sights, expensive hotel, expensive food/booze etc. And the fact it'll be wet or bitterly cold doesn't sweeten the deal much either. Good if you have family over there though or have lots of money to burn (which might keep your fingers warm :laughing: ).
