Aye, good deal. But bear in mind that the next-gen Xbox and PS5* will be out next year, so I expect these will be even cheaper by Christmas.
*And yes I know they're calling them 'upgrades' to the existing consoles, but they're basically the next-gens.

Honest to god, time and time again people buy consoles new at outrageous prices when there is NO catalogue of games.
If people were patient and they could wait a couple of years they'd find that they would save money and have a stock pile of high quality games to pour through. There is almost ZERO point to buying consoles brand new EVER.

Same here. I go with what I prefer. All my mates have Play stations but I can't get used to the pads or user interface. The X box one UI is so much more intuitive for oldies like me. This is all down to personal preference. There are things I would buy a PS for, like better graphics and PS exclusive games I'm missing out on. The controller thing is paramount for me though and the Xbox trumps this quite easily.

It's the 1tb I'm after... Plenty of room for GWG and EA access content...
What's the deal with the S? What does it do different?
I'm fairly certain I'll be more than happy with 1tb old version.
It'll be for exclusives, bargains and GWG that I use it for mainly I think
bilbob to joanddan7
7 Sep 163#20
What's different?
Smaller, 'neater', HDR and 4k compatibility. Lower power consumption. Better in-pack controller. Being white.
Overall, not a huge difference, but noticeable. Unless you are 4k at home, or intend to be in the nearish future, then I'd suggest this pack offers excellent VFM. You'll likely pay around £100 extra for the S model to get similar package of games.

increased clock speed, UHD and 4k playback. I think the games are up scaled to. It what's the xbox1 should have been.
You can add an external USB hard drive as storage and it uses it seemlessly.
I bought a 7200rpm laptop hdd, a USB3 caddy and just plugged it into my 500gb Xbox, works a treat. In fact the external storage is quicker than the internal. I did try an SSD in the caddy, but it didn't actually make it any quicker so the bottleneck isn't the drive speed.

I converted from Xbox during the Xbox 360/PS3 days for one reason... PS3 was region free... I like American sports and several titles I wanted didn't get a pal release... This was a big deal to me... Most those games are gone now or get a pal release so that reason is gone.
To me I'm not loyal to either. I do believe after the PR disaster Xbox has come back strong with much better feature upgrades and offer more for your money

At the risk of initiating an all out console war, my Xbox One is now the most used console in the house. I still play on my PlayStation 4, but it's been relegated to the bedroom for single player titles. Xbox One just has so much to offer at the moment with EA Access and GWG. It really is a no brainer.

Yeah. I have a 2TB attached to my Xbox One, just plug and play, jobs a good one. It's a lot easier than inserting the 2TB I did into my PlayStation 4.
In my opinion though, 2TB should be the bare minimum. Games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and what have you are loading your HDD with 57+GB, wether you have the disc or digital copy.

Heat. After at least a year of Ummming and Ahhhhing I finally pulled the trigger! Cheers OP!
Was a bit gutted i missed out on the Tesco deal, as I had vouchers which would have brought the price down even further, but I'm glad I held out and got the 1TB version for broadly equivalent headline price. Plus i've got a soft spot for the Vegas series.

8gb? lol...You can only use 362gb of data to download on a bog standard 500 model after everything is taken into account. I maybe wrong, but I believe fitting your own hdd voids the warranty. I have an external 2tb seagate that I picked up for £60 last year. I leave the internal memory for the OS. The speed difference is noticeable.
As for the deal above, that's a great price.

7 Sep 16#25
It's more the fact that the digital games you own are licensed so you never own them. Once they are removed from the store it is difficult to download again. So it is always worth having on a hard drive. Problem with an external hard drive is there is no way of backing it up. I like the playstation setup where you can have periodic backups of your system. Takes ages but at least you have ALL your games.
wetbandit
7 Sep 16#7
it's a great price for the 1tb model. 500gb is not nearly enough. I would prefer if they sell it without a hard drive and the OS being on a 8gb flash SSD or something. I'd rather put in my own hard drive.
ronaldmacdonald to wetbandit
7 Sep 16#24
Depends on how many games you concurrently download/play. For me it's enough. It is also easy to add a cheap usb3 external drive

Ok right i've decided to play it in this way...Hope that the older consoles do not all sell out prior to Fifa 17 release and hope they bundle it in deals to shift old stock after!!!!!
So here's fingers crossed.
You won't get these prices towards Christmas, this is clearing out the old stock of the older units to make space for the new 's' models...
If anyone is looking for a bargain, I'd suggest they get one of these black boxes being cleared out.

Siege has definitely been a suprise hit for me this year. When i saw all of the pre release footage and stuff online, i had no interest, but since giving it ago and my mates have got it, its been the best multiplayer I've played in years. Its ubisoft so theres a few nitpicks here and there and the content is quite shallow, but the core gameplay is so much fun, and anyone who has experienced being the last on their team and getting a clutch will know how tense that is.
And heat for this price, the Xbox one is a great system, not quite PS4 in graphical terms but the software and UI is years ahead of Sonys horrible software. At 190 quid its a bargain.

yep, £60 is really not a few quid more thats would be something like £20. really thought the point of the site was to save money and £60 is great saving if you not bothered about an S and the only advantage that has over this is smaller size and a 4K blu ray player which is pointless if you don't have a 4K TV which many still don't
