Best price I could see for the PS4 version. Please correct if wrong.
I wouldn't expect the PS4 version to go much lower.
The WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY Day One Edition features the game and extra digital bonus content including:
- Sephiroth summon
- White Chocobo: Choco-gallop to Grymoire's rescue on this rare, white chocobo.
- Glow Moogle: Add a little sparkle to your stacks with this shining moogle star.
- Red Bonnetberry: Put some merry in your tonberry with this cherry-robed mini menace.
- Japanese VO DLC: play the game with the Japanese voice-overs
Please note this is a preorder and will be released end of October.
TCB available and free UK delivery.

Cost me £0.96 and got a proof of postage and receipt, which I have emailed to them. Hopefully gets my money back quicker, and less chance of them saying they haven't received it!
Royal pain in the bottom though.

http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-contracts-regulations?#returning-faulty-goods
"Returning Faulty Goods - Any terms and conditions that say you must cover the cost of returning an item wouldn’t apply where the goods being returned are faulty."
I don't think it's clear cut, but I can see this clause lending credence to it. However I am going to send by Return to Sender as I am not prepared to send by premium post on faith as to me they made no such recommendation or offer.
31 for GAME credit (ew), or £28 for cash against the £30 we paid... it's convenient sure, but GAME will just use it to con some poor naive customer who will pay too much, and simplygames will keep a sale they haven't earnt. I would rather return it personally.

game are offering £31 trade in (price match cex) if anyone was planning to buy something from them anyway
Urgh great.
Same just happened to me. Unbelievable. So instead of just asking everyone affected whether they still want the game despite not being the Day one edition, they just send it anyway. Main reason I pre-ordered was literally just for sephiroth.
And more annoyingly, I opened the game thinking it may have the code inside, but nope.

Considering I ordered early September, I find it inconceivable they had no further stock of the day one edition.

Hopefully they will do the right thing and take it on the chin.

Think I'm going to argue with them. Not paying postage for their error.
Just for principal or I'll do a charge back.
For those that don't know, charge back investigations can cost the merchant upwards of £5-10.

Fight the good fight.
They claim not to have any day one stock so it is refund or nothing. I'm sending it back tomorrow and have ordered from Amazon.
No offer of credit, or anything else other than a stock email saying they apologise. I've asked about who pays for return delivery, no response and no instructions on how to send the item back, other than an address.

I will message them once more to ask them to detail how they would like me to return it (they said in the last email that I should ask and they will send me the details). As long as they don't ask for an overly expensive postage option I will stick to their request exactly in order to avoid liability if it gets lost in the mail, and will probably take additional photo/video just in case as proof of postage.
To be clear I do not at this point assume they are being dishonest, I will give them the benefit of the doubt while maintaining due caution and professional scepticism. It is unfortunate but I can order from Amazon for a few pounds more, or maybe even flubit. I do trust flubit, but I think I will just order direct from amazon for a few pounds extra on the safest bet.
Hiltron- I don't think there is any consumer protection in any form to say we are free from reasonable return costs. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.
Tee_Doff- Happy to help. It's great when the community can help each other like this with information.
Old_King- I wouldn't blame you but I think they have been very polite (and quick) in their responses so I'm taking it as an exception and not judging it either way. They could have offered something like partial credit or sought codes from supplier, but not doing that is not a crime.
If anything I feel like Square-Enix has acted dishonestly by shipping any day one copies that are not Day One Edition, I mean it makes no sense to be receiving a box two days before release which is not Day One Edition. It would be like receiving a Third Edition Reprint book before initial launch... someone would call foul. It makes the whole thing look like a scheme designed for illegitimate reasons.
Arif- thank you for confirming it and posting here, now my last doubt is alleviated. I once wasted my time contacting support about Assassin's Creed Revelations but it was just poor communication as the codes were in the box after all. Lesson learnt...

If they send the correct copy out after receiving this returned then surely we should receive a partial refund for inconvenience and expenditure.

I got a response nice and quick, which I will quote in full for the sake of not omitting anything: Seems fair. I will reply to them asking if they have any Day One Editions left in stock, and if they do that I would be happy to keep the sale with them and return my basic edition if a Day One copy is immediately dispatched in exchange, as opposed to return and full refund. I will offer to send it either Return To Sender or their choice of shipping if they will refund the cost. I don't think they have an obligation to pay return postage, so I will pay it if reasonable, but the offer of replacement should be more appealing to them than the full refund... assuming they have any to give.
p.s. this reply came an hour ago I was just very slow doing some background reading and writing this post.

Mine arrived today but it doesn't say Day One Edition on the box, or the shop listing page, or my order in the account section of their site, however it says it on my purchase receipt. I have contacted their support and asked for a code or return, I am keeping myself the option of returning it because the idea of switching out the editions without notification of the downgrade is not fair practice.
If anyone else ordered this please let us know if yours says Day One Edition and, if you're going to open it anyway, please let us know if there are any codes in the box.

Edit: There's an 0845 telephone number provided at the bottom of the page, oddly it's not provided in the help and contact section. I'm too lazy to call them and re-explain myself now that I already filled out the form, but there's that option if they don't respond in good time or good faith.

(I kept editing and adding more because I couldn't help myself...)
I'm not sure if the £28 was based on a reduction of a different retailer (using the premium account), but I got £30-something as did most people who commented so I wouldn't worry about the 50p difference. It does vary but generally for an item you'll get about the same (10-15% for games, but don't be surprised if you only get something like 2% for hardware, don't keep retrying on the same item - I did that once)
Hiltron09 to PrinceRules64

I suppose it's in their interests to sell the benefits of going direct in the first place. I got £31.06 for gow4 via flubit. Some other guy got £28. So variable, I wonder when the optimum time to put a request in is.
PrinceRules64
23 Sep 161#27
I have the same a TGC via flubit order on Gears 4 - I can't say for sure, but I would bet on it being a few days after release (1-5 days depending on supplier?) and be pleasantly surprised if it comes sooner. Admittedly the last time I used flubit for a game preorder was 2 years ago because amazon isn't usually cheap enough to bother.
If you really want it on release day I would suggest buying from a retailer directly (especially where the price is close like this one), but if you're not bothered about a small delay (or it's a game already released) then flubit is a great cost saving option sometimes.
Not sure if I missed the point of your question but hope that helps...
p.s. one of the advantages of flubit is if there are any issues you do it through the flubit system and they act kinda like the moderators, plus you only ever have to pay the money to them, so helps eliminate the worry of 'do I trust this small retailer with my personal details?'
PrinceRules64
23 Sep 16#25
I remembered that because the Amazon price is close I can send it through flubit and hope for a better deal. However I should have done the maths first as they offered me a nice 12% discount - but that only comes to £29.89. So even though both will contain the bonus content (since it's in the box), flubit preorders usually arrive a few days after launch. So I'll just order from Simply Games for 10p more, keep it simple and should get it on time.

I'm looking at ordering a few items off flubit for the first time. All are being fulfilled by the game collection. Would they still deliver a few days after? The game collection normally deliver either before or on the day when going direct.
