Or worse if you're like me, will never get the damn blades back in place as I found out yesterday

Be careful with any Whals that have a side adjuster if you do this, moving the blades on the cheaper ones (like this) will end up with cuts, the blades are never straight on this type due to the side adjuster.

Corded clippers are more consistent and self lubricating blades snag less and don't need oiling. They are usually ceramic coated.

Thanks, might recommend them to him if he kills these 100s quickly (not sure what he does with them but they never seem to last!).

Videos on youtube about "Zero-gap" Wahl clippers, not tried myself but look easy enough

I could do with some recommendations, boyf seems to kill off his clippers, read bad things about Remington though. A few have good things to say about the Pro Wahls.

I have the HC353 about 4 -5 year old and still going strong, had a Wahl set that died after about 18 months approx.
Get Wahl Super Taper, will cost extra £30 but they're that much better. These clippers feel cheap [they're £13] and do heat up after 5 minutes.

Thanks for correcting in such a nice manner
My comment was about my own experience of both Brands in a discussion with the OP which we continued in a friendly manner, unlike your Trollish response

Anyone know one with a 0.5 grade?
I'm getting too bald for a 1 :'(

Most (if not all) clippers without a guard / guide will cut up to around 0.5mm.
So, would be worth trying your current clipper on its own.
I think only a 'balding clipper' goes any closer, giving an almost shaved look without a guard / guide.

does any one know where to get the plastic guides? checked ebay and amazon but the price is very high.. The barbers might have some other site to get good ones for cheap/ I have wahl but guides bent over some time
Went for the Wahl 100s mentioned in Post #6 in the end - for some reason I got them free! I have had a few issues with Amazon Prime recently (parcel missing/delivery "dispatching now" then in limbo) so it must have been store credit. Apparently the 100s, even though they're basic, are similar to the 300s and most reviewers seem pretty happy. I'll see how boyf gets on with them.

Looks good ...
By the way, why would you want to cut someone's hair without the guard on?, spare a thought for the flesh of the person you might possibly injure without it, etc?, lol.
A few people have mentioned Remington's?, the only thing I knew of this Brand from before was purely that of a beard and/or moustache trimmer?, as opposed to that of a hair on head hair cutter, etc?, or have I missed something ..... (where the Wahl Brand has more than proved itself legendary in that regard from Barber's and non-Barber's alike, across the globe).

I upgraded my old remington to a pair of these cause they looked nice but they vibrate quite badly.

I needed to buy some new ones recently and didn't want to spend a fortune, i've pretty thick hair and hate them jamming, and I also like to use the clippers as a beard styler with the guide off.
I had the ones in this post for about 3 months they were 'ok' but kept jamming and nipping me with the guide off.
So next I tried the Remington 5018, these just jammed so quickly, so they went back. I then tried the Wahl 300, again these jammed and could not cut close without the guard on, so again went back.
Great clippers, had a set for 13 years before they packed in just remember to oil the blades after every 3 cuts as I did.Currently have a set of baldfaders which are outstanding also(great for receding hairlines like mine)

Agreed. Baldfader is amazing. Only gripe is that it tends to get hot.

I've already used Veet wax strips on his hairy monkey back - the neighbours must have thought I was dismembering him! :stuck_out_tongue:
The Veet reviews are a fail as far as comedy reviews are concerned, Paul Ross Canvas Print FTW!

I finally settled on these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M24O5Z8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 they don't jam too easily, and cut very close - do note there is no adjustment when the guide is off, so it's always close (I prefer this as the side adjuster is often inaccurate.).
Hope this helps
