Seems like a rather backward move. I thought they would aim to improve on all aspects of the device.

I disagree here for 2 reasons:
1. Removable battery.
2. Processor is a lower spec. However, this would ensure cooler running and less throttling during intensive use.
Oh, and 3. With 1gb of RAM, it doesn't make a huge amount of sense to pair this with a 1.4 ghz quad core. Why not slow the processor down to balance the system and give greater reliability

basically it's crap and Vodafone using the good name of last year's good value phones to trick people into thinking they be even better this year.the smart ultra 6 is better than this year's smart ultra 7

Yes, my ultra smart 6 couldn't be fixed and was replaced. I wasn't happy until they offered me the Ultra 7, which not as good as the 6.

It's actually an SD212, so slightly faster.
I reviewed this handset recently. The design and screen are the best things about it, performance wasn't noticeably bad like it is on similar phones (E.g. WileyFox Spark), despite the lowly processor. The cameras are passable.
I used two units, both had a fault when switching on the 'double-tap to wake' feature. It causes issues with ghost touches (where the screen behaves like its being touched when it isn't), which meant the phones kept randomly waking up on their own and ghost-typing wrong pin numbers over and over again.
