Booked two seats in the names MR and MRS CORBYN, sure he will end up sitting on the wing in protest!

So to travel to Las Vegas i need 49,000 miles and then pay £412?
I recently booked premium economy to SF and back from LA for £738 - this seems better

Just remember that the ticket you book with miles is basically fully flexible.

You got a really good deal on the SFO flight for that price in PE. I think these miles rewards offer the best value at peak times when you'd have paid double that.

I had him so far on the left wing he would have gone underneath the plane and be back on the right wing.

Any genuine deals to be had, or are these all dependent on previously-accrued miles?

my daughter fly with last time, the baby throw-up (just baby milk), requested something to dry up the floor, the steward did it , later ring the bell to ask hot water to feed again, no one bother to turn up to serve. ask yourself, would you flight with them. go to BA any day

Reward miles are best used for upper class, there is no point using your miles for anything else other than an upper class flight. 80k for JFK and 100k for the ROTW. I previously flew to Oz for 200k miles but they stopped that route :disappointed::disappointed::disappointed::disappointed::disappointed:

I used my miles in a miles plus money and saved £300 on flights to Orlando, so I would disagree with that.

I thought you would have been able to use your FC miles on Singapore Airlines to get to OZ, hmm maybe not. I'm not a fan of the layout of the UC seats so we always go PE especially if we can get an upgrade via the credit card.

This is definitely true. I built a complex spreadsheet calculator to work out all the different combinations and upper class upgrades come out way above the rest in terms of value. I only ever use points for upper class now. Premium economy is pretty cheap anyway so don't waste your points on that.

got about 90000 points, what's the best value destination to use them on?

Not possible. Singapore Airlines cashed out of VA a long time ago.

Had you chosen upper class for 100k miles, instead of a 2/3K fare, it would have been about 600 quid - saving far more than 300 plus you would get access to the Heathrow Club lounge and fly upper class
Singapore don't release any reward business class seats to partner airlines. You can only redeem for economy seats and that's a waste of miles.

Ah right, thanks for the heads up, saved me some time there

Does it still work out this way when Economy and Premium Economy are reduced by 30% (and Upper Class isn't)?
I have enough points right now for a New York return trip myself and my wife in PE, but I would have to pump more American Express rewards points into Virgin Atlantic miles to make it Upper Class. Otherwise I'd be using the Amex points towards a hotel on the same trip.

As long as you stay clear of:
Economy reward flight
Economy upgrade to premium
Economy companion flight
then you should mostly be getting good value. At regular required miles, the above represent a loss (ie you're basically chucking your miles away). At 30% fewer, well I'm not convinced its that much better.
Basically the tax on economy flights wipes out the value of your miles.
Best things to use miles on are:
Economy upgrade to upper
Prem econ upgrade to upper
Prem companion
Upper companion oddly is also not a good deal.

Are you able to share your spreadsheet so that we can do our own calculations?

Was seriously unimpressed with my last VA flight to Orlando MCO. Service and food was awful seeing as the flights were £1k each, but I guess we were in economy. Maybe using points to upgrade to upper class is the way to go.
I thought BA had a bad reputation but we used them subsequently again to MCO and it was so much better.
