This will get flamed but FYI... if you have the BT Sport app without the TV bit, you can upgrade to BT TV for no extra (**) with 12 month contract.
** BT Broadband required. **
This is a good deal IMHO because 1. the BT TV Essential pack comes with a decent Youview+ recorder and 2. Add the AMC channel for free (e.g. Fear of the Walking Dead). 3. £0 activation fee.
It's a poor offer if you don't like 12 months contracts. This is the only thing stopping me getting this (plus the fact I just bought S2 Fear of the Walking Dead for half price on Amazon.)
(**) I am currently paying £3pm (discounted from £5) for the BT Sports app. Not sure if this will stay the same or go up to £5pm?

Have either of you had BT TV in the past? May I also ask which BT Infinity 2 cost you have? I see it is currently £25 per month but i'm hoping they release better deals tomorrow!

Is this free (or £5 per month) to upgrade from BT Sport to BT Sport and BT TV?

You should be currently paying £5 (or less) for the BT Sport app. You can upgrade this to BT TV (remember to tick BT Sport and AMC) for no extra money per month. (NB. you need BT Broadband already and NB2. its a 12 month contract).
As far as I can see its BT's attempt to extend my current contracted period (ends March 2017); but I'm resisting.

Fear the Walking Dead is pretty terrible though and gets more stupid as every episode passes
£49 activation fee to activate BT TV. What a crock of ****. No thanks.

I have had BT's Ultra HD Youview box for a week and it's been horrible. Repeated freezes, 1 factory reset and hours of attempts to get through to someone on the phone to cancel it. And I'm on their 200Mb Infinity 3 Fibre service so it's not related to my internet connection.
Please consider carefully before you sign up!

I had a letter about this. When I rang BT they knew nothing about it and tried to charge me the £49 activation fee. In the end they went for it. Their staff are not well trained. I was told I would be contacted by phone and that I would be able to change the delivery address of the box as no one will be in. No such thing. Next day I get an email and a text telling me its being delivered tomorrow.

BT TV is not available on your line. However, you can still order your Broadband and Calls package. Please select your package from."
i am already a fibre customer with BT, at least it can pick the £49 option unlike the message i get through the OP's link.
That's what i get from op's link.
