Isn't it more fun being outside watching it steam past?

If they stopped up there it'd be up on bricks when it tried to leave the station!

I'm looking forward to my trip on Friday at the Severn Valley Railway. Tornado one way, Flying Scotsman back. Tickets were hard to book due to the demand but reasonably priced at £30 each.

The "Shildon shed bash" in the summer was very good value. you got a short ride on flying Scotsman for £15, got to watch it steam down the track, and then got to jump in the cab for a look round. Was a great day out.

Just be aware that their terms and conditions give the company carte blanche to substitute any other train engine should the Flying Scotsman not be available for any reason. It is an old engine and it suffers technical problems.
We booked a trip last year on the Flying Scotsman and at the last minute the engine was substituted for another steam engine. We were only interested in going on the Flying Scotsman but we had no choice but to travel on the alternative provided as their terms and conditions allowed the company to do this, with no recompense, no choice of postponing to another date and no refund.
We ended up spending a lot of money to travel on a train that we weren't really interested in.
