I've been looking out for a smart 3d TV and had this emailed over today. Less than £300 delivered and it ticks a lot of boxes 4k UHD, smart tv, 3d, 4 hdmi ports and it's Toshiba, which I rate. I have a smaller Toshiba and bought it as they were highly rated on Which and have not been disappointed, so I'm tempted to replace my 10 year old 40" bravia.
I'm sure people will moan about it being costco but for those that have a card it's a great deal and has a 5 year warranty!
I've not been in my local one but it might even be cheaper in store. I've noticed in the past some online offers are a little more expensive to cover the delivery.
It's less than £300... 40inch, uhd, 3D... Oh and 5 year warranty! Whichever way you look at it... This is a very good deal for the price!
What more does anyone want for this price??

I bought this tv and can confirm the picture is NOT capable of 4k.
I put a proper 4k signal to it, all I can say is forget it, it downsamples picture right down to 720p, same goes for full HD 1080p which also gets downsampled.
I have an 8 year old Hitachi 1080p cheapo tv and even that beats this tv's picture.
Having said that, the sound quality was better than the Hitachi, and I tested the 3d and that works as well.
I repeat this tv is NOT capable of 4k, not even capable of 1080p/i full HD let alone 4k. It is a "HD ready" 720p set that accepts 4k signals but displays in 720p. But many people are not fussy about that.

From November onwards, every PS4 game released must have a Pro mode, which means (at least) HDR support. Considering how close we are to that date, there's gonna be a heck of a lot of games using it real soon.

Just to say, it may say Toshiba and it may be licensed to Compal... But look at the rear image, it's clearly a Vestel (biggest tell is the plastic slot for the three pin plug, plus the general layout of the back).

Very good deal for those who don't have the bank to spend, including the 5 year warranty this makes it a steal. And I know there'll be people complaining about no HDR, but not many things take advantage of HDR yet and for £299 this is incredible

???, yeah they do, UHD disks, Xbox One S and soon PS4/4 slim and Pro.
No point buying twice.

The point is that people will claim they were conned into buying a 4K set when they try playing HDR content in it in the future. I'll say it again as people here are incapable of listening. DON'T buy a 4K set unless it's Ultra HD Premium certified as all you're buying is an expensive 1080p set. You can't say you weren't warned.

Decent deal, but Toshiba isn't actually Toshiba anymore, it's a branding on cheaper TVs, like many others out there.

Doesnt say much regarding 3D on the page, soz bud. And there's no info on the page stating it has HDR, so it's probably a no

No way its HDR you need to spend a lot more for that and on a 40 inch set you have to wonder the value of it anyway.
OP, Toshiba are not made by Toshiba anymore the last great true Toshiba set were the Z series LCD and that's been a good while ago i had the 47 Z series and my sister has it now and it puts a lot of brand new 1080p sets to shame with its picture quality and build. The new sets are cheap nasty rubbish and i personally wouldn't touch a Toshiba TV or a cheap Panasonic. Its a cheap TV but i bet its bad their were some refurbished Toshiba sets on here not so long ago and they were awful.
Ive just checked and it seems that its the same Model but the 48 inch that Argos are selling that they had lots of failures with i suggest people take a good read of that post. The 48 refurb is still available for £349 their is also a comment about the quality of the 40 inch and its one to avoid
"This isn't a Toshiba TV !
Toshiba stopped making TVs in 2014/2015
A company called COMPAL make all so call toshiba TVs these days !
As I have just found out when I spoke to Toshiba they cannot help what so ever and stated this isn't one of their TVs , even though its in a Toshiba box , with Toshiba branding all over it!
However
The picture is amazing
The sound is poor you will really need a soundbar as with any flat screen TV these days
The spec matches up to TVs at double the price!
It is a 3d TV although I haven't figured out which glasses I need !
I have just purchased fpt-ago4g glasses but can't get them working yet?
Its great to have so many HDMI ports and other bang up to date connections!
THERE is a PROBLEM with the Netflix app pre installed , it will not play any Netflix film ???
Netflix , Toshiba and Argos havent a clue why ??? Toshiba refered me to the manufacturing company compal but I cannot find any contact details for them .....Argos have discounted the TV due to this problem ...."
Lol compared to the vast majority, no they don't. And PS4/XBone will only be able to support HDR content if the original content was made for it. Regarding films, TV shows etc there's literally a handful that take advantage of HDR. Of course you can say to wait to buy it with HDR, but then the next big technology will come out and then wait for that next one to become affordable. There will never be a "right" time to buy something - you check your budget and buy the best thing you can get for that money, no need to keep waiting
