Just signed up for this after down grading from equivalent advanced plan as has been said this is an essential plan ( no personal hotspot or feel at home) but as I confirmed with three u can upgrade back to advanced plan at anytime in the 12 months but not down grade so save money on essential plan and only upgrade when u need to. I was paying £16 a month for 600 mins and unlimited texts and 4gb data on advanced plan so am now saving £7 a month and getting this deal until I need to upgrade to use feel at home in the middle of next year

Wow! An 8yo with that kind of deal! I have my 11 yo on FreedomPop! The others are with Vodafone, only because there was a 50GB data deal (exclusive to NI users!). Having spoken to both 3 and quidco, it seems if you are a 3 customer already (even on payg) then you won't get the cashback if you want to keep your existing number.
A bit **** really.
Also it is not £50 cashback, only £30 as the contract is only 1GB data, it's just 3 have an offer on, bumping it upto 4GB for the price of 1GB.
Cossie1
14 Sep 16#68
According to quidco, this could be seen as a change or amendment to the agreement, and that could be enough for the cashback to be declined.
ahenners
14 Sep 16#69
I took this deal with 3 directly last night and got the £30 quidco to track. I'm coming from EE and was offered the same £9.99 deal for 2GB, but declined. EE said they were doing this retention deal as a direct response to the PAC requests to leave for the 3 4GB deal. If they'd have thrown more data in, perhaps they'd have been successful :P
hukdus
14 Sep 161#70
Hot for new subscribers.
Cold for existing ones though - I managed to get the same package via retentions but including FAH and tethering for the same price several months ago.
If you're an existing subscriber, give retentions a call and see if they can sort it for you. It's unlikely they will offer it to you straight out though, but if you get to the final team they will be likely to offer this to you (before giving your PAC),.
EE are the same, its by design. Steer clear of them both :-)

So if Retentions don't give you, as an existing customer, this deal plus £50 account credit (to match the £50 Quidco), simply take the PAC, port out to any other network, join Three as a new customer on this deal with the cashback and then port your number back in again.

don't know if anyone is aware but on mobile phones direct you can get sim only on three (3) = 600 min + unltd text + 4gb of data on advanced plan for 11£ (after cash-back), or 600 min + unltd text + 8gb of data on advanced plan for 12£ (after cash back) + possible 10.5£ from TCB for a new sim only plan.
seems decent - I'm in the middle of switching from EE to Three because of their fell at home inclusive roaming option - which EE does not have on sim only at all, only on the max 4GEE plan.
I use a three sim in my dual sim LGV10 for data only I get great 4G coverage along the M11 corridor east and central London it very rarely drops to 3G,even though my phone lacks the 800mhz (band20) are you sure your APN setting are setup correctly?
firstofficer
14 Sep 16#86
Yeah I think it's all correct. 4G actually shows on the screen and the signal may be reasonable, but the quality of the connection (ie uploads/dowload rate) is poor and often subject to critical drop outs. I've spoken to 3 who say that signal is not guaranteed and depends on a range of features eg brandwidth traffic, weather and a lot of other sh*t.. I've tried using a different phone so I know it's not a hardware issue..
I have a feeling 3 restrict data connections in popular areas of the U.K. at peak times, but that's just speculation.
I'll get my coat..

Its worth giving Open Signal a blast before you join a network, you can compare actual speeds in your area for each network gained from users using their app.
Three do lag behind when it comes to 4G compared to the other networks but should have stellar 3G.

Sure you could always do that, but it does seem like a lot of faff. You've also got to potentially give your month's notice to leave anyway if you are out of contract and also upon re-sign you will require another credit check.
Plus, the point I was trying to get at was to negotiate with cancellations/retentions if you're an existing client to get a better package.
As I understand it, this package has no feel at home or tethering included. They may very well be able to give you the package I had if you are prepared to negotiate. Certainly for anyone that travels abroad it would have some value, rather than this one that everyone can get.
