Quidco? That's nice offer. How the hot spot works for you guys, when you can share your data with anyone in your home?

Yes you can hotspot on Tesco, I have a sim only with them already. Very handy!

What network does Tesco run on, is it O2? Currently running on GiffGaff £20 for everything unlimited but data is 6GB then slows down, wondering if this would be better for data usage and speeds?

Same network so wouldn't make any difference.

What about the data? Would this be 20GB full speed all the time? GiffGaff is unlimited but after 6GB it slows down quite a bit.

It's slow to begin with, more like 3G speeds, but yes after 6GB it's even slower.

I was on tesco before moving to giffgaff and have regretted it ever since, I picked giffgaff as it provided more data and slightly cheaper, it was also running on o2 infrastructure so thought it would run as the same speeds as on tesco.
Nope.

Oh many thanks! For £20 for 20GB this is almost too good to be true!

We were on guffgaff for years thought speeds were acceptable as we didn't know any better, then did a speed test with a girl at work, my 4g was getting 2Mb later found I was getting sometimes around 1, her 3G was 16Mb. We recently moved to life and it's amazing how much quicker their 3G is over giffgaffs 4g. Found out o2 have 3 speeds, top speeds for their customers, slightly slower for Tesco but so slow for giffgaff.

Hot hot hot data can be used as a hotspot no speed limit and it's capped as well. Thanks OP

2 months into my 2 year contract i was in deep regret, anywhere between my work (stratford) and my home (worcester) i would have constant signal issues, 1pm-1.18pm would lose signal completely everyday without fail

Cold,
Surely Vodafones £22.20 per month for 20Gb and unlimited everything else, + you can use it in europe for free + you can get 12 months spotify/sports/nowtv +£75 quidco. = £15.95 a month
Apart from the fact after npower, Vodafone are the worst company in the world..

Just got unlimited calls+texts with 10GB 4G data on EE, £19.99, plus BT sport app and free european roaming, SIM only, only slightly more fora premium service like EE (cmon their service+data is SO much faster), 10GB is well more than enough
Good deal for data tho
The Xtra app is not worth it, you see tonnes of ads on your phone everyday, it lags and drains battery, for 75p a week saving. Nahhh

Been using Tesco Mobile for a few years now and had really good speeds with 4g almost everywhere. Interested in this EE deal though now that the Tesco EU roaming ended on 1st September. Where did you get this deal?

Voda and EE have better deals, personally I took the Voda deal on mobiles.co.uk . Only Issue is I have not been able to set up the spotify yet. But without, I feel it it is still better deal

tescos signal is shocking. I often get no signal in or near my house and we have an o2 mast about 300 metres away.

Not true.
O2 and Tesco customers have priority over the network so both receive faster speeds.
giffgaff speeds drop to something like 128kbps after a few GB on the unlimited plans.

It does make a huge difference if you're on giffgaff vs the o2 network. Me and my mates did a speed test with the exact same conditions. Actual o2 reached speeds of 14mbps which isn't great but giffgaff recieved speeds of 1.3mbps which is pathetic. It's just not worth paying for. If I was you I'd actually look into the Vodafone deal if you've got an android phone, then you can cap the data on the phone. 20gb for 22 plus at CPW you get a 50 pounds curry's PC world voucher which isn't bad. Regardless of what people say about Vodafone, their network runs smoothly it's just their customer service is terrible, but hey if you don't have to ever deal with them then you're fine !

Its usually £25.99 a month, got it for £19.99, I called up and threatened to leave, I had 8 months left on my existing contract
They scrapped the old contract, let me keep the phone from it, and put me on this 12 month SIM only, no fees xD
With these companies all you gotta do is make excuses and threaten to cancel direct debit, rlly quite easy

Aah, so not a deal for new customers like the one in the OP. Pity.
I live in Bristol and changed from Tesco 4G to LIFE which is EE 3G only.I feel the speed I get over Life's 3G is superior to Tescos.

Tesco mobile has higher priority than giffgaff but less priority than o2 payg. Network speeds are better on tesco mobile vs giffgaff. Giffgaff slows down after 6GB usage. Why pay for the slowest data speeds SMH
niijonodhg to dimmos1
7 Sep 16#37
Tesco Mobile and O2 get the same speed. Tesco Mobile are a 50/50 partnership between O2 & Tesco, it'd do O2 no good if they slowed them down!

Anybody know what the EU roaming options are with Tesco now. I've had a look at the website and it's as clear as mud since the inclusive summer deal finished on 3rd September.
As far as I can tell the only option is 4p per minute, 1p per text and 4p per mb for data (but Tesco won't charge more than £40 even though I have a cap set at £5). Is that right?

Just checked via Live Chat. Was right about the roaming option but wrong about the cap.

Yeah, if you have a cap set at £5, you'll need to raise the limit of your cap before you go if you want to spend more.

Far too expensive for what you get. If you can be bothered with cashback redemption deals, you can get 25gb + 4gb in Europe + Spotify premium for £14.
