Thanks bought direct from Maplin free c&c. Tesco will come unstuck eventually with their c&c charge. Even Sports Direct give you a voucher to offset the c&c charge

My advice is, if you really don't like Tesco, don't buy from them. The £2 click and collect charge is there because they think it'll help prevent them going bust. They got themselves into quite a severe amount of debt. Every little click and collect charge helps Tesco remain dominant.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. I already avoid them where possible. They should sell some of the land banks they've been sitting on for years and generate some cash flow. Might steady the ship for a bit before Aldi and Lidl well and truly sink it!

Every little click and collect charge at Tesco makes me go and check the Amazon Prime price for the same item first - it could save a trip to the local Tesco Express which even had special click and collect storeroom installed.
I do seem to recall Tesco click & collect being free in the past at one time.
