I don't understand the confusion here with regards to Project Cars GOTY Edition having the base game or not. On the page it lists the base game at around £7 and each individual DLC at around £1-£2. Then it shows you the total price (including the base game) which equates to around £29. Then the GOTY is listed below it and showing the amount you'll save if purchased. It clearly shows the base game is included

After many attempts to get the Limited Edition Upgrade DLC with the help of Humble Bundle's Support Ninjas, it seems that there is a problem when redeeming the game through Steam for many customers who purchased this deal. Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon.
Great game nonetheless, can't stop playing.

It seems the Project Cars GOTY package has been altered in the past 10 days to remove the base game. Also, Steam support claim it never did (according to the source below)
When i try to purchase the GOTY version off Steam i get the following message:
Your transaction failed because you are trying to buy 'Project CARS - Limited Edition Upgrade' which requires ownership of 'Project CARS'. Please correct the error and try again.
So i'm not 100% certain the GOTY version comes with the base game

Well whoever said that is wrong and clueless. GOTY has the game all DLC £40+
It's not clear. On Steam the GOTY appears as all the DLC without the base game, but you can buy retail versions of the GOTY from GAME and Amazon, etc. which I'm assuming includes the base game.

Yes, I know, I was point out that Forza was better than this and it's only an arcade racer really, not a sim.
People seem to have this thing that driving games are "real" just because the steering wheel and pedals are stupidly over sensitive. That's not real at all. Performance cars aren't that hard to drive and you don't need to tip-toe around a bend like a ballet dancer.

I just learnt that the GOTY edition doesn't actually come with the base game! How messed up is that!? GOTY is basically all the DLC packs bundled for a discount. But you still gotta buy the base game! So, might be worth grabbing this.

The physics in Project Cars is still leaps ahead of Forza, if you are spinning out on corners maybe you should look into how much steering input you are putting into the car and also aggressive braking and throttle doesn't help.
If you want to try a more realistic experience of handling/physics try iracing, a lot of people give up on it after a few laps and find it difficulty to keep the car the track because they want to go flat out everywhere.
ro53ben
9 Sep 16#52
Admittedly I tested it early on and it may have improved since, but my main problem with this game is that the cars just don't seem to like going around corners. They just spin off at speeds that in real life you could go around without braking. If that car will go around that bend at that speed in real life, why doesn't it in the game?
I bought the wheel/pedals primarily for the F1 games, I'm mainly still using F1 2013. It's obviously not like driving a real F1 car but it does feel good on the limits and has natural lift off oversteer etc.
Basically I drive in games like I do in real life, when it starts to slide I subconsciously correct and on a good game it recovers. On Project Cars I just go off track all the time unless I drive like a granddad. It simply doesn't react like a real car does.
I find the PC port of Forza to be far better than this, even when using a 360 controller.
Ben2402
9 Sep 16#51
Yep, plenty of it and in vastly different cars.
Strange.. I've tweaked FFB slightly, and all assists are off.. Feels fine to me and the others that have tried out my setup.
Think my only gripe with handling would be physics and lack of feedback when the car *should* be on two or even three wheels.
What other games/sims have you played that you'd say has more a realistic handling feel, I'll give them a try.
ro53ben
9 Sep 16#50
I've got a PC with NVidia 980Ti, using Logitech G27 wheel/pedals for control.
Generally surprised you've done track time in real life if you feel it's good, surprised you've even driven a car to be honest, lol. I'm driving cars I've driven in real life and they are truly nothing like real life.

"playable via Oculus Rift and 12K Ultra HD resolution"
why is this a meaningless statement?
a) it does support oculus (and vive!)
b) you could (if your hardware was good enough) oversample to 12k to play back on your 4k tv/monitor
c) put, as the article suggests, 3 x 4k screens next to each other. not exactly out of the realms of possibility given that 3 screens would cost not much more than a vive anyway.
strange thing to say that it was a meaningless statement.
7.95 is a great price. very tempted and since i'm a humble monthly subscriber i've got 10% off (and somehow i have another 10% voucher its applying so its coming up as 6.50.)

Easily. The problem with the console version is that they struggle to maintain 60FPS and have a bunch of tearing, even the latest patched up versions, and there isn't a lot you can do about it. Ps4 is better than Xbox One, but with PC, you can easily get a locked 60FPS with that system and tailor your settings.
You should get high/some ultra and a solid 60FPS @ 1080p
greysquaill to joerob1972
9 Sep 16#37
I believe it would look better. I don't have this on PS4 but I do on PC. I have a R9 290 as well and I get 60fps on high settings on 1080p. I can even push it on 2k but the frames drop to about 40fps.

vulcanproject to fishmaster
9 Sep 161#35
As long as you aren't too hung up on having a heavily structured career mode, it's one of the best racers around. It's only really ported to consoles so you are much better off with the PC version if you have a reasonably modern machine. It's most rewarding with a wheel, but even with a pad it's really playable.
Visually on PC if you have enough performance to turn everything on and a nice resolution, it looks sweet. Driveclub looks a bit more polished, but it's only 1080p and 30FPS. If you can manage 2560 x 1440 and 60FPS on this with mostly ultra (you need a 980ti, 1070 etc), it is superb. Better looking than Assetto Corsa for example.

Having been a team member+, i can confirm this is a good game. Never played with pad but fanatec wheel is fun. I wish WMD still paid out. I think i got 2 or 3 dividend payments out of them. Was pleasantly surprised i profited £20-£30 for early access and having the privilege of playing for years before release. We should have a HUKD race once everyone has bought this...

I thought it was that and almost checked out, I think it's misleading how they have a limited edition and a GOTY edition, the image used made me think it was the GOTY with all the extra tracks and so fourth. I'm using 360 wireless pad and I do quite well. You won't be able to compete with the best players using good wheels, also using pad takes a lot of focus, but it's still awesome fun. I've done a 6:32 on Nords in Radical rx8 using pad.
