Add on item but at very reasonable price. I paid £8 plus vat. Amazon showing rrp which is ridiculous but at £4.95 you can't go wrong.

The Rolson 5m tape measure goes down to 99p fairly frequently on Amazon as an 'add on' item so it might be worth putting a 'camelcamelcamel' alert on for that.
I got Rolson 5m in Robert Dyas for 99p and that place is never cheap. Top quality.....

no good, I need metric-only. it drives me nuts when you turn the tape around and suddenly it's reading in inches when it was reading in cm previously.
Tools must be efficient and functional, so they need to be consistent, either cm-only or inches-only but NOT BOTH.

The little Stanley Fatmax 2m ones available for £1.79 on that well known auction site are metric only
I actually use mine in preference to any others as it is much easier and lighter to hold.
And of course being metric only, the markings are the same on either edge.

8M is useless if you extend it and it flops after about 2 Metres, looking at the size of it I'd say it's made of very thin steel.
You'd be better using your mum's sewing tape measure. :laughing:

No idea why people are comparing the price of a 5m tape with an 8m one.
Incidentally the 5m Stanley Tylon is £2.50 on Amazon + whatever postage deal you are on.
The 7.5m Rolson is £3.45, the 10m version is £4.73
Personally I would stick with the Stanley as I am a tool brand snob :laughing:

Definitely don't bother with the duratool ones that are often going cheap.
