It's 10p.
Can't believe people dissect a piece of software's pro's and cons for 10p.

I agree, I don't know why needing the phone ID is needed to mute the audio on call though, that permission is stupid IMO.

so this will play any song i ask it too? not additional charges for the song?

When you ask it to play a song it will show you a menu playing a sample but below that you would see available youtube matches that you can play with one tap.
You can install it to see if there is anything you like about it and get a refund within an hour of installation.

Best "listening" program out there and great when you get the karaoke style text flowing along with the music you're listening to.

If you have a google play subscription you can likely do this, but I am not absolutely clear what you mean.
Just install and see if it does what you want; uninstall within 2 hours and you get the 10p back.

I see. It wouldn't be of any use for mp3's; it's an app that requires internet connection for both voice/song recognition, and playing.

I thought this was free or is there more than one version?

There is also a free version. I can't see immediately what the difference is, but there must be one.
Update - the 'free' version is actually freemium - so you have to pay to use additional features. Whilst the 10p one is the full app.

[Update] I have this on my iPhone, didn't recall paying for it though which is why I posed the question. I was going to purchase for my spare phone (Android) and was curious if there were different versions which there are - the notes say;
SoundHound all you like – it’s free and unlimited. Don’t want banner ads? Upgrade to SoundHound ∞
So this is the version without banner ads. Have to say I've been using Soundhound on my iPhone for a few years and have never noticed the banner ads really. I don't use it a lot, its very handy from time to time. The descriptions on the Play store are almost identical aprt from one say 'Install' and the other 10p Buy. If you search Play Store for Soundhound you see both versions appear.

I bought it for 10p just so I could hum drunken karaoke tunes I vaguely recall at it and see what it says.
That might go some way to justifying my drunken interpretation.

I don't know and neither can test it as I don't have radio on my phone; just give it a try and uninstall for a painless refund.

You've probably bought it in the past. I've got the same so searched my emails (terms = soundhound Google) and found that I bought it 6/12/11 for £0.10. :confused:
