These packs are marketed as back bacon but quite often, they actually contain medallions, presumably to complete an order because they don't have sufficient back bacon to hand. You need to search for them amongst the vacuum packs. Don't know if you can get medallions in the unsmoked format. The smoked ones are very tender and delicious. Fantastic value as the same weight pack of medallions in Lidl's, where I shop regularly, cost £1.65.

crazylegs - try not to overcook them! Or try adding cooking oil.
wendyak - In the cooking bacon packs, you can get all slices, or chops or gammon slices or part slices. Currently in Lidl, their 1kg packs are £1.19, so much cheaper that the medallions deal I posted here @ 250g for 85p..

I've had these - really good value and very lean - it is back bacon really - just with the mainly fatty section removed.

This isn't any good, it has no flavour, it has to be cooked with the fat intact as its this that adds the flavour, this will just taste like medallions of cardboard!

I just found a pack of unsmoked back that appears to be medallions. Had to search through quite a few (although I do that anyway).

there isn't any bacon in my Asda that's 85p even the cooking stuff is more :disappointed:
