No. This isn't "real" HDR, it's just "HDR-compatible". That's why they've branded it with their own name (HDR Pro) rather than just saying "HDR". This is an 8 bit panel, not the 10 bit (or higher) than you need for real HDR.

Yes it is just not proper HDR. No it hasn't got a 10bit panel so you wont get proper HDR but it does support HDR-10 so you do get some HDR.

I took the plunge and bought this from Very - they have 20% off for your first order so including delivery, this TV just cost me £510
That's a good deal. My only concern would be the warranty with Very. A few years back I bought a TV from Littlewoods (same company) and had issues with it not sounding right. It took 4 months in total to get them to deal with it under warranty and then replace.

I just got mine from Very also. Already used the 20% off offer but I was sent a £50 off if you spend over £100, so got it for £579! Extremely happy with it, especially for the price. The Tizen OS is really snappy and the picture is excellent, although make sure you switch to "Movie" mode if watching films otherwise the picture looks very strange!

It's definitely 8 bit pal Samsung have confirmed it as I rang customer service when I couldn't get my Xbox one to connect in HDR.
The Xbox one S looks amazing in 4K, just lacks HDR colours. TBH with you I'm really happy with the television.

Noticed it says HDR PRO in the title and description. I have this television and it only supports 8 bit HDR not 10 bit, am I missing something? My Xbox one for example says my tv does not support 10 bit HDR

Can you check that you have the xbox one s connected to the hdmi/dvi connection on the TV and also go into your picture expert settings and goto the hdmi uhd and make sure you have it enable then post back.

They are exactly the same TV, its just Samsung always seem to release a version for individual retailers (Curry's and John Lewis - I assume to prevent price matching). The one from Richer Sounds does come with a smart remote (might not be listed but mine did).
Personally for the sake of a different stand, I'd recommend going to Richer Sounds. You cannot quibble at the price, especially as it comes with a 6 year warranty.

Funnily enough old films shot and processed on 35mm film are in 4K but a lot of modern films are not! A lot of modern films even when shot on 35mm or 4K digital camera are then transferred onto a 2K intermediate and all the special effects are done in 2K to reduce costs as most cinemas only had 2K digital projectors anyway. Doing everything in 4K would make it a lot more costly and time consuming

5 Years! your hopeful, depends where you live, when I lived in Manchester 10 years ago I was getting 50Mb from Virgin, Today I live in Pembrokeshire, and I am very lucky to live near an exchange and have fibre, yet I can only manage 25Mb and thats a good connection for my area, this is a very recent upgrade to fibre, there is very little chance of further investment in my area for a long time, 4K will not become a viable as streaming content for a very very long time.

Will be able to tell you on the 23rd as i have same model. Like the comment above it might not be proper HDR but doesn't mean it wont support it. Looking at the manual if you have HDMI UHD color set to off = 8bit but this can be enabled making it UHD color on = 8bit/10bit/12bit.

The issue with 4K and now HDR is will it really take off !
In my opinion 4K is great but it feels like a failure imo or not ready for general market, films and TV shows need to be filmed in 4K then we have the other issue of how to deliver it, netflix 4K does not look like real 4K and don't forget you now need an Ultra HD blu-ray player, imo too much for the odd 'true' 4K film or tv series, even the ultra hd blu-rays will cost much more. BBC failed to record everything in 4K like they said they would in 2016 and UK is still lagging way behind in the broadband race.
HDR at least shows immediate improvement and something possibly more easier to obtain and do ? But again lets see, I give HDR a bigger chance then 4K at least, lets hope its not another "3d" or "curved" farce.

movies shot on 35mm film are a higher quality than 4K already (more than twice the resolution), so these are ready to be broadcast today and there are a countless number of those going back decades, which is why an old Hitchcock movie can look jaw-dropping in quality - the only difficulty is the transporting of the amount of data needed to stream these as the future is streaming, not optical media
however, in just 5 years we'll be laughing at the dark days when we could only get around 100 Mbit internet on average!

I picked mine up today and I'm incredibly happy with it. Upscaling from 1080p is amazing and from SD it's better than some of the higher spec Sony's and Panasonic's I tried in store.

Definitely. I enabled it all at first and watching sport and films was horrible, it's fine with it all disabled now. For the price I have nothing bad to say about it tbh.

I bought this TV this week from Co-Op Electrical for £585 with discount code. Impressed with it, especially the 4K stuff. Yes, it's not true HDR but at this price it is never gonna be. Turn off all the 'enhancements' as the processing is quite bad on this TV! Been fine tuning for days and finally settled on a good picture now, gaming lag is very low and the sound is surprisingly decent too. Heat added anyway!

Stuck between this, the Hisense 50M3300 or the Panasonic 50DX700B from Very (so 20% off).
Obviously there's the price different between the Hisense and the others, but willing to pay a bit extra to get either the 6 year warranty or the much superior picture, and guaranteed HDR which the Hisense seems to be on the fence about? Any thoughts?
EDIT: In hindsight this question looks quite stupid given the huge differnce in price from the Hisense vs. the others, but would appreciate any insight as to whether the Panasonic/Samsung are genuinely worth the extra £150 or so for an individual who likes to download 4k films/shows and play console games. Unfortunately no fibre internet so can't stream anymore...but the hope is one day it will be available so trying to future proof a bit!
