spend £5 at Amazon and get yourself a speed cube, these will be clunky and stiff in comparison

With mine as a kid (only ever had a third party) I could unclip the lid of one of the centre squares, remove the screw behind it and simply remove all the pieces and put it back together...apart from cheating this was a perfect way to add silicone spray lubricant to make for a smooth glide.

Personal best at home is 11 seconds flat, I go to competitions and have an official solve of 13.08 seconds. That makes me rank 100 in the country, the Rubik's cube is great.
The official one is perfect for young kids because the pieces won't pop out, the performance is very poor though. If you get this and are interested in speed cubing then I implore you to purchase a speedcube from thepuzzlestore.uk. I currently main the WeiLong GTS and it turns like air.

My 8 year old can do the 3x3 in 19 seconds, Ive bought him several speed cubes off ebay for just a few quid, usually shengshou ones which he seems to like.

Official world record (4.90 secs ) video here
So Rubiks cubes have gone Chinese speed cubes and actually improved by a whole bunch....??
Who knew?
I'd allways told people not to buy the cheap ones as they weren't a patch on my original, but I can see I'm talking sheite now, the world has moved on  and I have handled a more recent Rubiks' and it was woefull and cheap so the old adage doesn't always ring true..
Thanks for the two-3 suggestions of new speedcubes!

Agreed. Real Rubiks Cubes dont have plastic stickers anymore but solid plastic inserts.

Indeed.. In my experience "Rubiks" cubes are pretty horrible.. They havn't evolved and are the same design as they were in the 70s.
There are lots of chineese versions which are not just copies, they are complete re-designs and work so much better than a Rubiks.
I personally like the "Dayan V5 ZhanChi" which you can get for a few quid on eBay.
Once you try a chineese cube, you will NEVER look back.

I would personally recommend the Weilong GTS, it is my favourite but costs £11. If you're on a budget then people say to get the £3.50 QiYi Sail, it is far superior to any Rubik's brand.

I used to dismantle mine then rebuild to complete it! I even bought a book on how to complete it, written by an 8 year old, and STILL couldn't follow it

I used to pull mine apart, except I made notes of where the faces ended up after following simple sequences of twists which allowed me to compile my own solution.

Look on the internet how to solve it. Once you get the hang of the algorithm then bobs your uncle.

I saw it a few days ago. Nearly bought it but luckily on was out of packaging. It is a poor plastic replica with cheap stickers falling off...
