saw these on Groupon for £30.98 with free delivery. use code 'save10' and you get £10 off if you're a new customer with Groupon (I just used a new email).

Yes I know loads of ppl will say it's a rubbish printer and not colour, but for someone like me who uses it maybe twice a year to print holiday bookings then it's worth the money especially as my inkjet printer ink has always dried up when I come to use it.

be nice it's my first time posting a deal

Also a better option is to using a static rule in router DHCP to assign a same IP to the printer. So you don't have to reconfigure printer's IP every time if it's changed by router DHCP.

Can you just print from an iPad? I presume you use wps on the router then press something on the printer to connect the printer to your network? After than can you just print from an iPad? Sorry for questions but never had a wireless printer and not 100% sure but for this price I want to go for it.

No, unfortunately with Apple you'll need the printer to be AirPrint compatible, although a poster further down has said there's a manufacturer app, have a look into it first before committing.

When I plugged it in via USB it went perfectly in a couple of min, it was just the wireless which for some reason refused to do WPS (pin or push button. Didnt mind as it only cost me 15 notes!

Id also recommend the android app for this printer as you can print direct from the phone too without messing around with settings.

I struggled so much with this printer - but it was my fault. You can set up printing profiles to use economy mode and different paper sizes and whether to use the front paper feeder and all that and you might think "OOoh, I'll print this off!" and forget to change profiles. If the lights are flashing and you just can't seem to get it to print then pull open the front then close it again - that's if it thinks it's got a paper jam. If you've told it to do a job like pull something into the manual slot (I do this when printing labels for my beer bottles) then want to print something just using the paper tray and it's not working because you weren't there to feed paper or something, then just tap the job-cancel button on the printer, wait to see if it does anything, then tap again because maybe you were there like me smashing the print button 20 times because nothing was happening. I was doing it over a network via a different pc and it was getting the error messages, not mine.

Got this on the £15 deal, would definitely recommend it as a printer, can't comment on the longevity of the starter toner yet myself.

WiFi install in theory is easy, in fact it worked straight away for me despite WPS button being flakey for me in the past (in fact I have it turned off in my router). You can configure the network manually but it's more of a pain. Alternatively just use it via the included USB cable if you don't need networking.

ps If you are setting up wireless, DON'T connect the USB lead or install the drivers first. Use the WPS button on your router, then the blue round wireless button on the printer. It should connect with it. Then it'll get what it needs from the CD. If you do, you will have to totally remove the drivers, and try again. Use Google to search, on how to do that for your operating system, as it varies.

You'll be fine. If you read the toner cosh sheets you will find that they expose rats to huge amounts of toner to see what the effects are on their lungs. Pretty horrible life as they get cut open afterwards. Always found it ironic when animal rights activists hand out photocopied flyers.

Thanks, I think.

I'm a bit careful with these things - we didn't used to worry about asbestos and it took a long time to learn. I've come to the belief that, especially if someone profits from it, inhaling lots of tiny particles of anything unnecessarily is probably something I'd rather avoid.

But each to his or her own.

I'd stay away from Groupon deals. I "bought" this printer from last Groupon deal on HUKD. Groupon was holding my purchase for a month. I had to chat with customer support twice before I was told that the purchase cannot be fulfilled. All in all spent more than a month to fight for my own money. Very poor communication, unhelpfull customer support, that's how Groupon cares about their users.

It is in a company's best interests to ensure that they thoroughly test their toner to ensure it is not carcinogenic. If they didn't and were found out, it would be horrendous PR for that company - much easier to be safe than sorry.

Window for registering the warranty is quite short, so make sure to do it ASAP. I didn't receive any verification when I did, but retrying it told me I'd already registered.

TCB lists £10.10 for new Groupon customers. Wonder if it would work with the discount code?

I picked one up a few weeks ago when it was £15. For the price, you can't fault it at all. I use a Mac, so getting the wireless to work seemed near enough impossible. Probably a Windows only feature unless you want to fiddle around indefinitely. It's quick to startup and print. IIRC, replacement cartridges / toners were around the £20 mark.

I got mine working using the CUPS+Gutenprint drivers, for OS X. I can't remember the original source of this, but this is a review from Amazon which contains the details for OS X users. https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/RZT2TK5PA6Q15/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00OCHA4B2&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=340831031&store=computers

It'd a good printer I use mine a lot. The only issue, and it is a pain, is the wifi printing. You can still print from apps etc.. But it's doesn't support whatever mode the newer printers support which means they automatically work. For example my HP wifi printer automatically comes up on my work laptop if I'm at home. The Ricoh one had to be installed. Not a big deal but a bit annoying. The android Ricoh app is fine and you can buy an app which makes native printing work. If you want to use Google Cloud print you have to run it through a PC etc. .
Still it's a bargain for a little bit of fiddling.

Big difference in being the asbestos and coal dust were occupational hazards and at the time had no regulating body. Pretty much now everything is regulated and checked and as toner studies have been performed for decades without any major issues then you should feel at ease with the results. I would be more worried about nickle/silver coins and WIFI/mobile phone conditions. To be honest the major risk of poisoning now is from cooking in foil and cling film. You can even get cancer from sniffing freshly cooked popcorn microwavable but not from toner.

Hi, just to let you know my printer works fine on Linux and OS X using the same methods as you. You should have the CUPS server set up, so go to the printers config page (http://localhost:631/) to get the IP. When you go to the add printer dialogue in OS X, type in the IP and select the LDP protocol (I think, there's a few options but don't pick postscript). That should work!

Like many of the comments above, it is hit and miss with the wifi, mine did it all automatically, but then kept changing its IP address, turning of DHCP didn't fix the problem, so I assigned the printer a reserved IP address, which has now solved the issue. This is not difficult to do, but you have to have a bit of network savvy to spot what will work.
You can, of course, just use the cable, which is a simple solution.
For 20 quid, the print quality is great, and the aftermarket toners are cheap.

Printer manufacturers make all their money on toner/ink and do their best to prevent anything but their own toner cartridges being used.
Does this one accept cheap 3rd party ones off eBay? If not I'd rather pay extra and buy a printer that accepts cheap toner cartridges.

First set up with WPS is fairly straight forward, but it's after a router reboot that things can get messy. I print so rarely that after a few attempts I gave up trying to fix the wi-fi, resolved to go USB. Keep in mind you might need to identify it as a different printer altogether in Windows (mines are rather unimaginatively Ricoh WiFi and Ricoh USB) and will need to install the USB drivers too

Toner catridge works out cheaper than buying another one of these just for the catrdige. You only get 700 pages out of the included starter catridge. You can get a 2600 page compatible toner catridge from amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00V6J28G8/ref=pd_vtph_229_tr_t_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YH2JS1GPWDKAT8036DSV £23.50 with free delivery. You would need to buy 3 of these printers to get the same amount of page yeild as this one toner gives.

Great printer, I bought one from amazon last time there was a sale. It did come with the cable in the box.

Also to those mentioning buying the printer at £21 instead of buying the toner at £22 bear in mind the starter toner that comes with the printer does 700 prints rather than the full toner's 2600.

Edit: Brewer provided instructions to manually add wifi, I have now been able to set it up with wifi and without using wps.

No disrespect, but that is not correct. I have this printer, and use it via WiFi. My router does NOT have WPS (SKY BB - Sagecom). Sure, it took a bit of fiddling around on initial configuration, but after disabling DHCP in the router for this printer and hardcoding the IP it works perfectly everytime. Super bit of kit for £20. As a tip, I have the default properties on "Toner save" mode, which gives lower quality results, but literally doubles the life of the supplied starter toner!

Regarding health concerns this article is useful https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/laser-printing-has-gone-nano-but-is-it-safe/ , if your worried about it the article makes some suggestions such as putting it in a well-ventilated area and leaving the room if it is a big printing job.

Got the printer today after ordering it on the weekend, nice little printer.

Was a little annoying to set up with my MAC however what I did was, use a windows machine to configure the printer manually for wi-fi.

Once I had the printer configured for wi-fi on windows, I then installed the GutenPrint Generic PCL 6/PCL XLdrivers onto my MAC
I then added the Printer on my MAC using the IP address and LPD Protocol and the driver above
That was it, I hope that helps someone

If anyone is still following this thread... anyone able to advise about the toner? I got the flashing light last week to say it's low, and so had a look on ebay where I found someone selling a genuine toner with 50-60% remaining (apparently his printer was faulty, so he got rid of it and was selling remaining toner), which I thought might be easier being genuine than some of the compatibles, so it arrived today and I can't get it to work, just get a solid red light. When I put my old one back in it still flashes for low and prints fine, but it does nothing except the solid light on the right hand side.
Wondered if anyone that knows more about this sort of thing than me could shed any inspiration?!
Really happy with the printer apart from that though!
