Apple seem to have dropped the price on the refurbished iPad Mini 3 16GB models in the Apple Store to only £199. They will come in like new condition with a 12 month warranty. Various colours currently in stock.
The only iPad with a camera flash is the iPad Pro. And, yes, iPads utilise a 4:3 aspect ratio.
When you say 'never again', I can only assume that you mean: 'never again will I blindly purchase a product without understanding its technical specifications and ensuring that they align to my own needs'

The 32GB Mini 2 is also down to the same price of £199 - the 64GB is only £10 more at £209.
Mini 2 and Mini 3 are identical apart from Touch ID I think. 64gb Mini 2 seems like the best deal.
Looks like other Apple products have taken a price hike today.

Pay £50 more and buy a Mini 4 off ebay.100x better.
Mini 3 is basically Mini 2 with finger print scanner, not worth £200.maybe ok for £150 but no more.
Mini 4 is excellent though.

I take it you don't subscribe to the theory that people wielding iPads in public to take photos should be shot, then?

Most tablets that aren't iPads do? Sony Xperia line-up, Samsung galaxy Tab (all the current ones) and so on.
That is assuming they meant storage not actual RAM.

16gB is hardly useless . I know all the new os's take up a lot more space but you should have atleast 8-9gB left .
If you dont have your whole " Justin Bieber" music collection on there and install every shi**y free app known to man the storage space will last a while.
Its like people who moan their PC is slow and running out of space , stop looking at P*RN and stop downloading every antivirus program ever made and installing them on one machine !.

I knew this would be in here somewhere. As it always is.
I suppose I might as well nip home and throw my 16gb iPad in the bin then.
It's only a Mini 2. 16gb wifi only. Been using it for years. Never run out space. So how is it "useless"?
I have plenty apps installed. But not a huge amount of media stored on it.

Yes, I realised after I said which is why I added the last bit! In fairness, 1GB RAM on these is also mega stingy.
Anyone else follow the Apple announcement last night? They've finally killed off 16GB with 32GB being the entry-level, but top-spec of the iPhone 7 Plus comes in at £969 - ouch!

Anyone thinking about buying an iPad ...... I bought my iPad Air 2 64gb last year in currys for £450 ish I took out the extra insurance for about £3 a month so if any damage accidental or not I'm fully covered. It's the best thing I have ever bought no problems at all well pleased with it. So it might be a little more in currys but for a small monthly fee it's fully covered

I don't think it's useless so much as being mugged off for the same money as other tablets - when you have devices like the Sony Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact and Samsung Tab S2 8.0 (32GB base memory) in the same price region which both have expandable memory.
If you're using your iPad for content consumption over the internet, 16GB is perfectly fine. The reality is, Apple probably stuck with 16GB to get the upsell from customers, and on the whole (along with carefully targetted marketing), it worked - they even convinced everyone they have done something revolutionary with changing the entry-level to 32GB yesterday.

That's always been the Apple way. No expansion slot and charge something like an extra £100 for each 16gb jump. Bonkers. HTC, Samsung and the newest Nexus devices have gone the same way. But HTC & Samsung both reverted after the uproar removing it caused. Not sure if Nexus are. I use a Nexus phone myself but it's the 64gb (their 64gb being considerably cheaper than the Apple equivalent) one so I'm fine with that. I couldn't use 16gb on my phone without expansion though.
Still doesn't make 16gb "useless". Maybe a little less useful away from wifi, but certainly not "useless". That's just nonsense.

8 Sep 16#28
I agree, not useless, but definitely 'reduced purpose' and I personally wouldn't suffer with one. You're right, the Nexus lineup has always been fixed storage but even with those as least you can use USB-OTG and they're fairly priced.

Refurbished by Apple ensures you will get a decent product protected by a warranty. Definitely never a problem buying refurbished by Apple and I bought a Mac Mini 2014 for £110 cheaper at the time from Apple Refurb store.

Well it depends if you feel £60 is worth it for an extra 2 years warranty - I would say with a 10 year old it is far more likely to fail due to damage or loss (which is not covered by warranty) rather than becoming faulty - ipads are pretty reliable.

It will be interesting to see if they remove the headphone socket from the next iPad, if they do, won't they have to put the lightning port on the top ?

I've just bought the mini 2, 32 GB storage, £199. I'm not the sort of person that would ever need or use 64 GB. You would barely get through the doors of the Apple Store with less than £200 these days, so to get this is a result !

Elephant in the room regarding the 16GB limitation is apps like BBC iPlayer and Amazon Video that let you download episodes and movies for travel. But before anyone assumes the an Android tablet with memory slot is the solution, I think even in latest Android versions, they still only allow media like this to go into the Internal memory and hacks without rooting will fail. Probably due to fears about digital rights.
