But for us who dwell in ramshackle old caves, it could be a lifesaver. (I was hogging our only one the other day for hedge trimming while my other half was gagging to do the lawn. So I narrowly avoided getting killed...)
Check out your local branch, it could be national. Most are clearing garden stuff to make way for Halloween and Xmas tat.

sorry to here your head hertz but I feel there is amp-le reason in the current diversity in continuity to continue the use of RCDs as they give far superior protection to standard fuses or mcb's and would recommend there use where possible for safe use of electrical equipment especially outside the home.

It's a killer of a deal! I knew some bright spark would appreciate this one. Might have to have a "trip out" and get one as I'm on a bit of a short fuse!
All joking apart if you don't have RCD protection, then this is a steal and a must have for anything outdoor.
These are a good idea on garden electrics even if your consumer unit does have a RCD, as it may save tripping out the power to the rest of the house if you cut the cable.
My father was always chopping through the mains cable on his hedge cutter, I fixed it so many times that I put a inline plug & socket on it so I didn't have to take the case apart when reconnecting the cable, which also saved on lost cable.
On one occasion I even found he'd poked the wires back in without doing the screws up because he was too embarrassed to admit that he'd done it yet again.
Somehow he never once managed to trip the RCD in the consumer unit or blow a fuse!
In the end I got him a hedge trimmer attachment for his petrol strimmer.
