PS4 500GB Black + Uncharted 4: A Thief's End + No Man's Sky for £249
My first deal post :P
Pretty decent price considering No Man's Sky is a just launched game, and with the new Slim PS4 bumping the price back upto £259 and think its entering the stage where its the last chance to get the older versions.

I may regret taking a gamble on a deal last week... paid £10 more without NMS heh..

Holding out for a cheaper deal, I think the old console will go down further next week before the slim comes out.
It's bolox, they just don't want to cannabilise UHD player sales. Stupid decision, I held off the the Xbox because of poor audio support, streaming is crap compared to physical disks. Thought the neo was going to be my first PlayStation, no point now.

I don't think this deal is that great. The sweet spot is £200 for a 1TB console. This is about £200 for 500Mb. The games can equate to £50. I have put off and put off and am preordering the pro now. Not bothered about UHD disks for 2 reasons. 1) can't remember the last physical movie disk I purchased 2) ordered an Xbox one s which covers that base if needed. I think sony are right. There are physical media collectors for sure, that like the special editions and cases and what not. But many folks want to reduce the storage footprint - and digital streaming fits that bill perfectly. Not voted hot or cold, but if I was desperate for a phat ps4 at this point I would hold out another 7/8 weeks when these units will be being dumped for christmas/new stock

The tangible advantages of the new model:
1. it comes with a new pad that can be used when wired up.
2. uses less power.
3. is smaller
Yet, it has disadvantages too:
1. comes with a new pad that has the annoying light on the top
2. doesn't have optical out.
3. no heatcoil or hefty heatsink to aid cooling, uses naff sheet metal instead.
I very slightly prefer the slim because of its smaller size but the other advantages it should have (cooler, quieter), thanks to the die-shrink, have been abandoned to save a few quid on the cooling solution.
Stick "ps4 slim teardown" into Youtube and you'll see the new slim is pretty shoddily put together. So, this is a better deal than a slim at the same price but no games. Hot!

"It comes with a new pad that can be used when wired up."
Not sure I understand? I've always used my controller wired up with the USB cable?

Since when is connecting a controller with a cable a "new" feature? That has existed since the 360/PS3 days.
EDIT: Not to mention wired controllers on PC.
That game has been losing its value hard. It went from £46 to £28. It's just a matter of time before it drops even more.

Was thinking that no 4K UHD drive was an issue with the Pro but according to dvdreview this will be a temporary setback as it has all that's needed once a firmware update is released:
Someone compared the slim to the og and said the slim runs cooler and quieter

AFAIK unlike the PS3 the current PS4 does not utilise the USB communication at all with the DS4 when connected via USB except for pairing and system recovery. (and connected to PC)
It uses Bluetooth primarily and just charges via the USB
Anyone who has tried to extend their USB via powered USB extenders will know this, (the DS4 range is shockingly bad) and in the end had to purchase a Titan One device to make it work wired outside of the DS4 bluetooth range
only Sony knows why it was designed this way, but I would speculate this change had something to do with USB 3 interfering with Bluetooth frequencies

OK deal. Not hot because No Man's Sky is all hype and is a bloody boring game from what I hear.

I believe you can transfer your buttons presses by USB rather than it just giving power. Probably make a slight difference for fps players.

I think it reduces the latency on this new controller when you connect the usb cable or something along those lines.

The PS4 "Pro" probably won't take long before it drops to £300 or less and considering it's better than the original PS4 it makes the "Pro" version a deal worth waiting for.
I guess Sony couldn't call it "PlayStation 4 Elite" cause Microsoft used it in the past but "Pro" is pushing it.

I'm not downvoting your post, but you are wrong. The Slim isn't pushing the price back up, the OG PS4 won't be getting a price jack. The slim is more expensive yes, but that's because it's a newer model with the benefit of running cooler and quieter than the OG. We'll continue to see the price fall on the original as stores dump stock.

Looks like a good deal to me. Guessing people are expecting a big price drop now the new model is coming out, it's just not fashionable to have a fat PS4
