You can't really compare the two markets are they aren't the same. We have much more consumer protection here than in the US for example.

Those prices were a price match of Tesco promotion. Amazon have matched Tesco again and bumped the prices back up.

If you get in touch, (phone might be best) you can tell them and every game preordered from September 16th-October 1st is eligible, so all my games are that were price matched with tesco last week

Whether or not prices haven't gone up currently, I think it'd be a bit naive to think they won't increase them in time, whether the full £2 or not.

If the price drops £5 then so does your pre-order. Good for games that aren't out soon. Gives more time for a possible price drop.

£14.99 feels like a better price and discounted than, say, £36. It's a £2 difference but at such a high price it really doesn't make a damn difference.
I wouldn't pre-order a game I want of £39.99 from Amazon for the sake of saving £2 with them. I'll just buy what I want elsewhere.
davidian84
30 Sep 16#34
Suprised this isnt hotter, amazon price match most retailers, now you get £2 off extra. Plus next day delivery and any bonuses amazon have for the game.
I know US is 20% but they also charge $60 for mafia 3, in uk its £40 before discounts, US also add tax on to the price depending on the state.

Whilst it is better than nothing, can't be annoyed that US gets a 20% off deal, making their games significantly cheaper again. No idea why places like the UK get screwed over when it comes to new game release time and time again

I just got an email from Amazon crediting my account with a gift card of £4, without asking I may add, for 2 games I preodered last week when they matched Tesco. Battlefield 1 and The Fractured but Whole for £35 each! That's why I love Amazon.

I wouldn't bother. I had it preordered with Amazon but 2K is refusing review copies until release. That to me sets alarm bells ringing that they've no confidence in the game. Best wating until a while after as you still get the discount.

This Mafia situation reminds me of the Watchdogs fiasco a few years back. Never buy a game now where they don't allow reviews. As I'd bought a Fifa PS4 deal the other day, I too got an email from Amazon saying £2 had been added to my account.

Bit of a meh deal IMHO as inevitably most new games will be up around the £40 mark so £2 off is a tiny discount ~5%. In most cases would be better with Flubit up to 15%....
Zatos

Not if you think of percentage saved. The higher the initial cost the lower the saving. At £10 it's 20% off.

true but you think they could have made it 10% and got a lot more business. I'm sure they could have taken the hit and would have seen an increase in sales

Really such a big deal? can just order again at the original retailer, they are going to have plenty in stock. Pre-ordering is increasingly becoming a mugs game anyway the poor state many games are released in. IMHO the optimal time to buy a 'new' game is about 3-6 months after release. All the bugs patched up but still new enough to be active online (not that I'm much of an online player) and loads cheaper to boot...

I was wondering when we'd get the video game preordering bonus thingy America has had for a while now, but £2 is a bit silly considering America gets a whopping 20% off all preorders. I won't complain I suppose, since £2 is £2.

Got the £2 credited to my account for my Pokémon moon pre-order, I guess they're making their way through everyone that has a prime membership.
If you have any of the games pre-ordered and they are still at the same price you can apply the £2 credit plus the £2 you will now get off as an amazon prime member!
Just make sure to cancel the original pre-order, £28 for Pokémon you can't go wrong!
