OK, so Sainsbury's had their turn last week with the PS4 price glitch.

It seems the group haven't learned much in a week.

Possible pricing/description error which makes reference to both 500gb and 1tb versions.

Who knows, maybe they will honour this one? After all it is reduced from £319.99 which would seem in line for a 1tb?

Also note that I found this in see all prices cuts>technology>games and consoles>xbox one>consoles.

Also note that the fifa version (1tb) has the same rrp of £319.99 with only a £20 reduction whereas this shows as £70 off.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5729771.htm

It could be a genuine reduction.

**Update - One member has had a phone call confirmation from Argos that this is a 1tb Xbox one S with battlefield 1**

Like I said both have their merits, graphics are a little better on the PS4 but the controller is better on Xbox. The Xbox is quieter but the PS4 dashboard is easier to use. Overall if I am playing single player then it's PS4 but if I'm online eg playing an fps then the Xbox live service is better.

Wish I could trust this and take the plunge
as I would love the extra storage but can't put £250 blindly just to recieve the 500gb. When in few weeks my amazon order will only take the cash on dispatch and by that time my xbox one will be sold for £120
ST3123
18 Sep 16 #56
Personally, I see no reason at all not to go with this. If you get the 500GB you still have every right to return it for a refund as they miss-described it plus if you wanted to keep it, it puts you in a very strong position to negotiate a partial refund since they advertised it as 1TB, potentially giving an even better deal since the Xbox One is so easy to expand with USB drives the amount of internal storage barely matters anyway....

Would recommend anyone buying this confirms with Argos on phone (or even better chat as it's easier to screenshot) that this is the 1TB Xbox One S at this price. Then they really do have no argument whatsoever if they supply the 500GB.

Of course, doesn't help much if they cancel but from what people are saying this has a decent chance of being a genuine deal so I'd say it's worth it overall...

I've ordered it and confirmed on the phone and via chat with two different people that it is indeed the Xbox One S and the 1TB version, so provided they don't outright cancel on me, I'm pretty well covered. Got the order confirmation through almost immediately.

I have not had anything from them about them calling me yet that some people are mentioning, though I don't see why they would need to call me anyway, the only reason they may need to call or message is about delivery date but it's far too early to arrange delivery since it's not coming out for over a month...

Bundle is £300 elsewhere at the moment. Would wait for the Scorpio though if you're in no rush as it should still play most games at 60fps at 1080p instead of the sub 30 we often get from the current consoles. Of course we don't have much solid info to go on yet, but I would be surprised if that wasn't the case. Expect to pay £100 more for it too if that is an issue.

The only 1tb BF bundle version they're doing is an Xbox One S in Military Green, which I believe is Microsoft Store + GAME exclusive, so I'd say it's pretty likely this is wrong. Those thinking they'll pull through I'd think again, there isn't even a white 1tb + BF1 SKU.

18 Sep 16 #76
I would never go back to paying £20+ for a movie even in 4K when you can have all you can stream movies and tv in 4K on Netflix for less than £10pm. Admittedly, the 4K bluray will be technically better with more advanced audio formats and hugely less compression but when 4K Netflix streams look so good I still wouldn't pay the extra.

4K Bluray drive is still useful though either for the future when 4K disc prices become sensible and potentially even the near future if rental services like Lovefilm start to offer them.

It's one of those things that is not essential but is nice to have, a forward thinking inclusion. Even though it has no gaming application yet I think Microsoft made the smart move including it and Sony were rather short sighted (or maybe cash strapped) in not including it....

Sainsbury limited bought Argos limited a few weeks ago, lock, stock and barrel, Argos is now part of Sainsbury. I bought a Fridge Freezer which has now developed a fault, from Homebase ( which is also part of Sainsbury) 9 months ago. Sainsbury /Homebase are due to collect the faulty item from my home in a couple of days time. They said they would text me to arrange collection of the faulty item. Since then all I've been getting is text and phone calls from Argos enquiring as to when they can collect the faulty item. At first I was confused as I had not purchased anything from Argos, on enquiring further I was informed that they are now part of Sainsbury.

Depends on your definition of 'a little' more really, most places seem to want £100 more for the PS4 pro, which I would class as more than a 'little'. Argos don't even seem to list it at all yet so no idea what their price for it is like. They have the PS4 Slim for £259.99 but that is just a smaller version that adds no processing power and is significantly worse value thanks to half the HDD size and no 4K Bluray....

ST3123
18 Sep 16 #132
Still extremely early days I guess but I find it disappointing, if somewhat predictable that devs aren’t pushing the boundaries and actually trying to do some native 4K games. Hopefully the increased power of the Xbox One Scorpio might encourage some actual 4K games. I know on the Pro especially and possibly the Scorpio some things would have to give e.g. perhaps less objects on screen at once and fewer minor incidental details and less effects (which can be annoying and over used sometimes) but I’d be happy to take a few compromises to actually be able to play something that can actually address all those extra pixels.

Afterall, if we aren’t moving up to 4K, why exactly are we having this intergeneration refresh? Just smoother 1080P gaming? For me the PS4 and even Xbox One do 1080P well enough, ok sometimes it means 30 FPS or 900P on Xbox One but I don’t think either are that serious of a problem, they certainly don’t bother me. I don’t think we need another suite of consoles just for slightly prettier/faster 1080P gaming. As for 4K upscaling it’s pointless as your 4K TV upscales everything anyway so you can play standard PS4/Xbox One with 4K upscaling it just happens in the TV rather than the console.

One thing I can say for certain, if all PS4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio bring is enhanced 1080P gaming I’ll be in no rush to upgrade….

No, unfortunately not, I think the wireless/bluetooth protocol is different so it won't 'see' them. I know the PS4 controllers work to a limited degree on PS3 (but not the other way around) but I don't think there is any cross compatibility on Xbox One/360 controllers...

The first is erroneous too...and the text. The point is the title is for 1TB S model, the RRP reflects that it is and it's been confirmed over the phone.

As per my previous post, I have a corporate account with the distributor that Argos is acting as a reseller for and I will confirm 100% with them in the morning what the device is, so no further speculation needed

Scorpio is going to be premium price, so don't expect the s to 'plummet' and it's still 15 months away anyway so plenty of time to get good use out of it even if people were to buy an s and upgrade. (especially as MS are planning to incentivise trade-ins)

"BASED on" . Price of Microsoft offer is 299 so Argos RRP of 319 (kind of) in line with this. Not likely anybody would be doing a pre-order on the "old" Xbone. I saved a copy of Argos order page quoting 1TB Xbox One S in case of any problems.

I think at best you will get the old 1TB console and BF1. You will struggle finding a correct description on the entire Argos site.

I'm not knocking the deal.
TacticalTimbo
18 Sep 16 #155
Wouldn't even bother with this, wait for Nov and the PS4 Pro. Look at it's price/performance.

Same price as Xbox One S 2TB, with 4.2 teraflops; http://www.gamespot.com/articles/console-specs-compared-ps4-pro-ps4-slim-xbox-one-s/1100-6443665/

X1S gets 61MHz clock boost, that's hardly going to register, hence ~1.31 teraflops

I'd read section 2.3 of their T&C's, completion of contract is on despatch of items. Emails etc until then don't legally mean much really.

Would hope they'd honor it for good customer service reasons, but they don't have to if it is incorrect.

The title still says "1 TB.." but the "Technology Product description / spec" below mentions (500GB) in 2 separate places. So I reckon people will be getting a 500GB XB1 S model..so not that hot a deal really.

I always thought that as retailers if they want to say that something is on offer and been discounted from alone price down to another, they have to show that they have sold the product in at least one store at the higher price for a certain amount of time, so how come Argos are getting away with saying that this is reduced by £70 when they can't have had it on sale at the higher price due to the item not been out yet?

ST3123
19 Sep 16 #182
Sending it back is letting them off the hook for their screw up, as they can just sell it on at RRP and not lose a penny, and you would have to find (and pay the extra for) the 1TB bundle somewhere else. If I get the 500GB I'll be wanting to keep it with a partial refund for the spec difference as you can always buy more storage at a later date, you still get the benefits of the S model (provided they don't send out an original Xbox One of course! )
ddavis

I got this automated message on the phone too, thought it was surprisingly soon considering the site stated October and the game (Battlefield 1) wouldn't be out in time. Don't care at all if I get Fifa instead as I doubt I would keep either game (though I would be more likely to keep battlefield than Fifa) as I have EA access, which they will both appear on in time.

I just spoke with Customer Services and they've told me that it definitely should be an Xbox One S 1TB with Battlefield 1. The order page has shortened descriptions, though that does leave off a key letter!

I think they're deliberately not mentioning the size, but I'll have that argument when I get it.

19 Sep 16 #195
I'm sticking, not sure its a better deal - just a different.
ST3123
19 Sep 16 #196
Because, assuming this pans out, you are getting the 1TB Xbox One S where as everywhere else this would only get you the standard 500GB, double the capacity for the same price, why are people not grasping this deal? If they send the wrong model (500GB) we would be in a very strong position to negotiate a partial refund (esp those who confirm it on phone/chat) making the overall cost even less.

Worst case it gets cancelled before shipping, you get your money back, nothing gained, nothing lost, don't see any danger at all with this deal.

Admittedly it's a bad choice if you want it for a gift for someone as there is a slight chance it could get cancelled, but otherwise I see no logical reason not to go for it if you want it....

As a white 1 TB Xbox one s to buy on its own or with battlefield 1 doesn't exist, these are the only three options I can see happening.

1. Argos cancel the order
2. You receive a 500gb console.
3. They admit the mistake and charge you just £ 249.99 for the Fifa 1 TB xbox one s and give you a copy of battlefield 1 for free.

option 3 gets my vote : )

I think, in his own way, he is simply saying that given the many inconsistencies with the webpage, there is a possibility that what is delivered is not the sum of the (various) components. the only way it can be 1tb is if they send the fifa because the bf1 1tb is green, not white. i don't think you can buy the one S on its own. or since it's a 3rd party supplier, it could be the green one (very unlikely and dispatch date is 23rd)

Again as someone pointed out, Gameseek are listing a standalone 1TB white Xbox One S that was available to order but is now showing as OOS. Like I say, nobody is going to know for sure until they arrive. It's a punt which will either pay off or there'll be a slight hassle in getting Argos to take them back but nobody should be stuck with unwanted 500GB's as it would be a clear misrepresentation as the order email states One S 1TB.

I think you may wish to consider utilising your time elsewhere. Calling people deluded etc for placing an order on a website which is a clear misprice is uncalled for. If you're wishing to order (i.e. In line with the whole point of this site) then do so. If not and you just want to play keyboard warrior, then troll elsewhere. The game was really up when there were references to a third party supplier. Argos were clearly the middleman in this case. There is no way they would subsidise a 1TB version if they were intent on delivering the lesser model. It would have been a different story however if they actually bought in and held stock themselves and mislabelled it.

Was a good try but not all the pieces were there for it to succeed.

I totally agree to this. Mine hasn't been cancelled as of yet and I'm intrigued to find out if it is a 1tb version I'll receive. But you have massive plonkers on here determined for the "facts" and just bringing awareness to Argos that they potentially messed up. Doesn't help your chances to receive the deal, when they i.e. Argos, have the opportunity to cancel.

Granted if my order does come through and it's only a 500gb then so be it, it'll be returned. But the principle of people pestering their customer service team doesn't help on any future mispriced deals that may arise on here!

If you're unsure to order or not, get a credit card and put it on there until it comes. No money comes out of your debit account and we have the sales of goods act to return an item like this if it doesn't come as the mispriced deal!

20 Sep 16 #292
A bit disappointing it looks like it's the 500GB after all. I notice despite all the info and pictures matching up it still makes it look like a special offer with the text "£70 saving" still in there. No idea how they work that out as it's the standard price. Even if you managed to buy a stand alone Xbox One S with no game at £250 there is no way BF1 costs £70 so the £70 saving claim is totally bogus now and would have only applied to the 1TB.

Regardless, I'm keeping my order no matter what and would recommend others do too, don't let Argos off the hook for this, make sure you get the 1TB or a partial refund for the difference, returns/cancellations work in their (Argos) favour. I won't be cancelling but if they deliver the 500GB (with either game) I'll be complaining and requesting a partial refund, which I think is the best option. Unfortunately, I used Paypal rather than card, but if they (Argos) prove unhelpful, I will have no problem opening a not as described case for it.

I haven't had it yet. Expecting it though since this seems to be the way it's going. When I do though I am not going to cancel, I will insist on the product ordered or a partial refund for the value difference between the two models (1TB and 500GB). If they refuse and cancel anyway (likely unfortunately) I will report this matter on social media, store review sites (like trustpilot) and report their product listing to Trading Standards, ASA and Watchdog, would advise others to too if they call to cancel it. May seem extreme to some but I'm particularly annoyed as I had two people confirm it for me and they were extremely tardy about updating the website to correct their mistake. Really poor from Argos though can't say I'm that surprised as I've had negative experiences with them before.

I got the phone call, I took it further with them insisting a manager call me back, which they did, but unfortunately I ended up cancelling as the most either of them would offer me was a £20 refund, which isn't worth it for me since Amazon and Tesco direct have the 500GB Fifa bundle cheaper and flubit can be used for further discount (don't care about the included game). Mentioned that I would be going to the ASA and trading standards and that I could get the console cheaper elsewhere, but they weren't interested at all. how did you get offered £20 off when I said bout money off they refused anythin
ST3123
21 Sep 16 1 #325
I got offered the £20 off too though I didn't take as I just wanted the lowest price on the console as I'm not interested in BF or Fifa. I simply explained how angry I was about the whole situation, that I had had two advisers confirm it as the 1TB bundle and that I wanted to take the matter further with a formal complaint, including the involvement of the trading standards and ASA. However, whilst making clear you are complaining, intend to take the matter further, and are not happy with a simple cancel for refund, it is important to keep your tone even and not actually lose your temper with them, try to keep it professional.

If the first adviser is unhelpful then you have every right to ask to speak to a supervisor or manager. I spoke to the manager too but both made the same £20 offer....
Traveller
21 Sep 16 1 #326
I reckon they have been briefed about just offering £20. It's a fair deal, and makes it almost joint cheapest but with a better game.
Just depends how soon you want the console or whether you can hold out for another deal nearer xmas or black friday.

I just said I had missed other deals because of this, so they offered the money off.

ST3123
21 Sep 16 1 #329
It's very easy as they are just a code after all and hence not in anyway specific to the console you bought. The difficulty comes in selling them safely without getting ripped off. They will sell in no time at all on eBay (assuming a sensible price is set of course) but you have to be very careful of scammers. I would definitely restrict the sale to UK only, enable all the buyer restrictions (like have credit card on file etc) but you can't explicitly ban zero feedback buyers sadly. Most important don't send it via eBay message as this gives you zero proof of delivery and hence you would lose a item not received case (on eBay or paypal) and hence be forced to refund. Unfortunately only special delivery offers protection for vouchers and codes, which would take a substantial chunk out of your money (cheapest is £6.45 for a 100g letter). Alternatively, so long as it doesn't get lost on the way, 2nd or 1st class recorded would give a proof of delivery, which would protect you from a fraudster trying on an item not received case....

A lot of pitfalls selling game codes online sadly. Gumtree is another option and possibly safer as you meet the person face to face but I personally aren't keen on meeting strangers at my home (or even a neutral location) so I take the less personal eBay approach and the associated risks.

Of course if you have someone you know, who is after the game anyway, that is by far the safest and easiest....

I did actually order the offer I had left on Flubit, was £243 like yours. It got up to awaiting dispatch today but no further yet. Actually kind of wishing I had waited and gone for the Tesco Xbox One S and 3 games offer I just saw on here tonight, as I love the Forza series and could have made a fair bit back selling the other two games, but now that deal isn't working because one of the three games has sold out.

Ah well, guess that is the way with these things, always seems to be another better deal right round the corner. No matter, I'll leave the flubit order open and see what comes of it, fed up of faffing around hunting for better deals on it.

Well the 3 game deal isn't an option at the moment as I read one of them is OOS so you can't buy the bundle & you won't be stuck with a 500GB as they will have to collect & refund as the order isn't as described.

But I suspect they haven't sent a thing tbh & you'll get a call with the bad news soon.

Called Argos about this earlier and had a very calm discussion about how unhappy I was with the situation. The guy I spoke to was very sympathetic, but seemed unable to do much to help, until I stressed the point that yes, the description has now been amended to say 500gb, but the *pricing* still says that it is £329.99/reduced to £249.99/£70 off... And this is entirely incorrect for this particular 500mb bundle - everywhere is selling it for that price. So that would mean that Argos are falsely claiming a reduction in price, and that's simply not acceptable.
When it clicked with him what I was saying, I immediately made it very clear that I was not in any way unhappy with the service HE was giving, but that it was appalling customer relations/false advertising from Argos themselves... And asked if there was any form of compensation I could get, otherwise I would be cancelling and most likely lodging a complaint.
He immediately offered a £30 refund, but explained that it could only be given once the console was delivered (he made notes on my account to this effect). I'm fine with this, especially because I know plenty of people only got 20, so I thought it was worth sharing in case anyone else could *calmly* push for that extra tenner ;-)

Another twist. Did you establish exactly what they are despatching because Battlefield isn't out until next month so if they are shipping, are they shipping Xbox One S 500GB consoles only and then following on with BF (disc or DL code) or is it the 500GB Fifa bundle with BF to follow ? An Xbox One S 500GB with Fifa & BF for (£249.99 - £30) £219.99 wouldn't be too bad a deal would it ?
dabe1971
21 Sep 16 #342
That was the original pre-order date for the 1TB with Battlefield pre-order but then we started getting shipment notifications for THIS week - today in my case. So it's unclear quite what they are doing/shipping if anything. Until someone actually receives a delivery it's all a bit confused !

Yeah the only email I've had from Argos is the automated one at the order stage but I had two texts delivered on Tuesday stating the order would be delivered by their trusty 3rd party supplier by 21/09/2016.

I suspect the texts came from the 3rd party supplier themselves and then Argos realised the error and got straight on and stopped all deliveries because their own T&C confirm that a contract is formed when despatched. So if they did send out 500GB models, that should form a contract and as we've got emails stating 1TB models they would have to supply them.

I suspect though that during the day tomorrow you'll see a mass of cancellation emails going out to all of us that they haven't phoned yet.

You aren't alone ! I paid with PayPal credit so it's spread over 4 months interest free so I'm hanging tight for now. Is it possible they may actually be sending the 1TB Special Edition Battlefield model that's due out 13/10 ?

Add into the mix that I bagged one of the £239 500GB Fifa/Forza/Overwatch bundles yesterday from Tesco as I thought this deal would've been cancelled. I'm tempted to leave it untouched until this is resolved - I could end up selling it !

25 Sep 16 #355
Well I can't cancel online, the cancel button doesn't work for me. I presume it's because they were due to ship it to me by the 21st according to the two texts I got. I paid with PayPal credit so I've only got to pay the minimum for the next 4 months as it remains interest free until then. That will take me past the release date for Battlefield One when they should be shipping something to me, 500Gb or 1TB !

But in a twist, I actually ordered one of the Tesco £239 bundles with Fifa/Forza & Overwatch and that was supposed to be here on Friday. But I don't know if you've seen my other posts but my package made it to the delivery depot in Farnborough when Tesco suddenly decided to take it to......NORTHERN IRELAND. So I still don't have anything, from Argos nor Tesco.

But after much ranting at Tesco I have secured a compensatory refund of £67 for my troubles and a new console should be arriving tomorrow. So I currently have a 500GB Xbox One with Fifa/Forza/Overwatch for £172 en route for sure.

Now, the issue will be what do I do if the Argos one does turn out to be a 1TB Battlefield One bundle as I want the game & capacity. TBH I think I'll end up keeping both but selling either one of the 2 500GB consoles I end up with or keeping the 1TB and selling the Tesco 500GB one for about £200 I reckon for a quick sale.

So best case I end up with 1TB Xbox One S with Fifa/Forza/Overwatch/Battlefield for 221 or worst case I have a 500GB for the same price. Not a bad deal either way !

If it's the 1TB, is it the Limited Edition one as I can't see any other one to preorder with Battlefield One ?

Soooooo after all that got confirmation from flubit saying that it was the 500gb version so decided to cancel and stick with my Tesco order which came yesterday  what a disaster from Argos/Tesco/Flubit lol

Think it's just you and me as "Last Men Standing" on this deal now isn't it ?! Seems doubtful that they will deliver 1TB units now but we shall see !

29 Sep 16 #363
Nope, I'm still here too!

Unfortunately I left the battlefield (pun) for a 1TB Xbox One S and settled for the 500GB with three games for £239 Tesco deal that was on last week as the games were worth more to me than the (potential) extra storage as I have a 3TB external drive anyway so the extra 500GB would have only been a quite modest boost compared to the storage I already have.

Argos made it VERY clear to me that if I had kept my order with them I would have gotten a 500GB anyway, so it was only Flubit who 'may' have supplied a 1TB console put personally I still find it very doubtful. In any event I'm more than happy with my 500GB and games and hope it works out for the last few clinging on.

Did anyone receive the console yet??
I've just got a card off Royal Mail saying that I have something to collect with a customs charge of £9.64 to pay... And I don't think I've got *anything* else on order!

Doubt any have shipped yet as Battlefield bundles aren't due out until the 13th and I can't see them shipping from outside the country and attracting any customs charges as a result.

Yes, my bad - the package with customs charges was a book I bought through Kickstarter many moons ago that I'd forgotten about. Still no console.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/xbox-one-s-gets-a-paintjob-for-fifa-17-and-battlefield-1-uk-bundles

Seems Argos are doing a non-SE blue console for £299.99 with Battlefield according to that article. Doesn't confirm that it's a 1TB model but could this be the one we ordered perhaps ? The original ad showed the price as £249.99 down from £319.99
drg0nz0
9 Oct 16 #370
Despite all the problems they've had, and no doubt many people pointing out the mistake (I know I did) they actually STILL have it down as reduced from £320

I've been wondering about this "released 13th"/"delivered by 21st" stuff... Now they're saying 12th?
Has there been a more confusing deal on here in recent memory?? :-D
dabe1971
11 Oct 16 #373
Mailorder dealers will be sending out the console bundles on the 12th to be delivered on the EA Access release day for BFO, the 13th. The standalone game isn't out until the 21st.

I'm almost certain that we'll be getting 500GB game bundles from Argos. Then the fun starts because by their own T&C's the contract is formed when they despatch so as I've receipts stating quite clearly I ordered a 1TB machine, they have to supply just that....
dabe1971
13 Oct 16 #374
Got another text today stating "Thanks for your order XXXXXXXXX for item 5729788. It will be delivered by our trusty 3rd party supplier by 21/09/2016."

So that's now 4 text received since I placed the order saying it will be delivered !
drg0nz0
13 Oct 16 #375
Lucky you! I've never received anything yet, and definitely not one today! :-(
dabe1971
13 Oct 16 #376
Oh I wouldn't say lucky, a few texts for £250 isn't a good deal ! :stuck_out_tongue: I just find it bizarre, the whole thing. My online order record still shows the description as 1TB on the order summary & detail pages yet if I use the order tracking search it shows as 500GB and as you pointed out, they're still showing as £319.99 down to £249.99. It's a mess but all that plus that they keep texting delivery updates all adds to the case against them if they ship the goods and therefore complete the contract. The wait continues...
dabe1971
14 Oct 16 #377
Got a text today from a company called Exertis stating my order is out for delivery. Now it gives a different reference number to my Argos one but I can't think of anything else I'm expecting that is likely to be tracked and a quick google says Exertis are a tech/gaming company so I'm pretty certain it's my console - of some description !

Will keep you informed but won't be on here again until this evening.
dabe1971
14 Oct 16 #378
Just had a text from Argos - it's definitely my console. News later !
drg0nz0
14 Oct 16 #379
I just got the same delivery text from Exertis - first anything I've had since I ordered it (except for the call saying it'd be 500gb). Delivery between 15:12 and 16:12...

My breath has never been so baited!

drg0nz0
14 Oct 16 #385
Well, we were told since a couple of days after ordering that it'd be the 500GB bundle. My only real gripe was that it was still listed as £320/reduced to £250, which afaik goes against trading standards - however disclaimers in the T&C basically says "mistakes may happen, you accept this".
Of course, some people got further confirmation that it'd be a 1TB... Maybe they can argue the case, and I wish them luck. For myself, I negotiated a £30 refund after delivery, so (as long as I get it) I still feel I've come out of this ok.
dabe1971
14 Oct 16 #386
I wasn't told. I've had no communication from Argos apart from the texts stating my order would be delivered and my order summary still says 1TB now as does my order detail, both of which match my email confirmation.

That's my argument, they've had a month to contact me and advise of the mistake, they could've changed my online order details or emailed me - but they didn't.

I've no reason to look at the product detail page since I ordered to see any description change so I was fully expecting a 1TB model in the box and as they despatched they completed the contract as per their own t&c to supply one as described.
Biohazard28
14 Oct 16 #387
@dabe1971

I am the same whats happen to you no communication from argos at all , just the confirmation texts and emails , i got slim 500gb today and i was told i have to pay the £50 difference if i wanted the 1TB i told them they are breaking their own t&c and they waved past it and told me am welcome to take this issue further....

18 Oct 16 #393
i also received the 500gb version - they lied to say that they had spoken to me and i had agreed to keep the 500Gb version. I am tempted to take this further. I have had correspondence from them whatsoever. They state that they have done nothing wrong and no contact has been formed which is nonsense as even their own T&C state

2.3 Acceptance of your order and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on despatch to you of the products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it (please refer to Returns and refunds). To those that received the 500GB and so have a binding contract with Argos - DEFINITELY keep pestering. I did and as a result I’m now the proud owner of an Xbox One S 1TB but not with Battlefield but Gears of War 4 ! :stuck_out_tongue:

Let me summarise what happened since the last time I posted.

I knew I’d had a delivery from Argos but stuck at work I didn’t know what. Well it was indeed the 500GB that others have had. So later that day (Friday) I logged onto their online chat and explained the situation. I was told that an exchange would be made for the right console and during the conversation I made a point of typing in full what I had ordered and expected being polite but firm. The initial chap I dealt with said he had to transfer me to someone to make the arrangement and again I stressed that I was expecting a collection of the incorrect model and I reaffirmed that I was expecting the 1TB model I ordered.

As this was post 5pm he told me he could;’t contact them by phone so sent an email asking them to contact me. He warned it could take 48 hours and as this was Friday I didn’t expect a call over the weekend. I ended the chat and made sure of getting the chat transcript emailed to me so I had a record of them assuring me that I would be getting my 1TB machine.

I checked my account on Saturday and it had been updated to show a return was in progress - not an exchange. So I contacted online chat again and explained the situation and asked her to check what was going on. She explained that all was OK but the online account would show a return only then a replacement being issued once it had been returned. So again I stressed that I wouldn’t release the incorrect one without the correct one being delivered at the same time.

I also expressed concern that I was dealing with a 3rd party and not Argos direct who my contract was with and I asked if there was any trouble could I change the game and get the Gears of War 1Tb pack that I know they hold in stock at their stores. She didn’t reply to that question directly but assured me that my contract was still with Argos and I would definitely be getting the correct console. I ended the chat and again made sure of an email copy.

I then awaited the call from the 3rd party supplier. It came around lunchtime on Tuesday and she started to confirm details about the collection when I interjected and asked her to confirm that my 1TB machine would be coming with the same driver. For the first time I was actually told that this was a pricing error and that they didn’t have 1TB Battlefield packs to offer. At this point I stopped the collection and told her I would deal with Argos direct as I had a binding contract with them.

Added into the mix was the fact that when they tried to deliver the package with the incorrect model console their courier called outside the confirmed delivery slot and left it with my neighbour which I wasn’t happy about.

So that evening I summarised in an email the whole sorry affair from the initial texts with incorrect delivery dates right through to the incorrect model despite the multiple reassurances in the chat conversations that I would be getting the correct console. I pointed out that by their own T&C’s I had a binding contract and that if there was a pricing error they should’ve made contact with me and explained and offered the lesser model. If they couldn’t reach me their own T&C’s state they can assume I want to cancel and issue a refund.

They did no such thing and despatched the incorrect model so forming a contract. I was firm but polite in pointing this out and explained that i had no cofindence in their 3rd party supplier and that I was prepared to accept the Gears of War 1TB pack as an alternative that they keep in store.

I sent the email off to several addresses [email protected],[email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] on Tuesday.

Today I received a reply from the someone in the Directors Office and they conceded that the conduct had not met their usual standards. My local store had been contacted and a GOW/1Tb pack reserved until close of business tomorrow. I was asked when I could collect and I made arrangements for this evening after work and I was given a contact name at the store.

I called in earlier and was dealt with politely, efficiently and without issue. I was even given a one off 10% discount card valid until the end of January by way of an apology. With that I walked out of the store with a 1TB console and game, albeit not the one I ordered but I’m happy. Argos’s actual staff have been great throughout and it was only the 3rd party company that disappointed.

This was always a gamble but one which I was happy to chance and I was prepared to accept Argos’s explanation of the pricing error if they had given it to me. But they didn’t, not until after they had delivered. I can’t say everyone will be as fortunate but you have just as valid a contract as I have if you were sent the goods.

Good luck and thanks to the OP !

Cheers. It's worked out to be an even better deal as I got the cheap Tesco pack with Fifa/Forza/Overwatch but mine infamously was sent 480 miles to Northern Ireland so I got a discounted price from them too.

And now I've sold that 500GB model to a friend and Tesco sent two copies of Overwatch too one of which I'll sell so ultimately I've ended up with an Xbox One S 1TB with Fifa, Forza Horizon 3, Overwatch and GOW 4 (plus GOW 1,2,3) for £205 !
