hence why they have insurance for 6p. No quibble when my item arrived slightly scratched, full refund and kept the item.

I won't comment on the item. But just to say, this is for a PREORDER item. So on top of the 1 - 2 months it takes to arriv from China, there is however long it will take for the manufacturer to actually make this product and start shipping it.

$18.88 dollars. Was going to go for the insurance as stated above at $0.38 but then it kept changing the free standard delivery to another cost $1.38 so gave the insurance a miss.....Paid via PayPal so any snags will claim through them :smirk:

Not bad, only £15 wasted too when it doesn't turn up.

This likely to support any standard IP protocol so I can use a pi as a monitor instead of the inevitably crap app that won't work on android x.x?

Ive had a couple of Wifi cameras now, all under £50. They all work fine at the beginning but within a year or thereabouts they get funny or stop working at all, so in my opinion its better to buy these with a retailer like amazon where you can get a refund/replacement further down the line.

15 Sep 16 #22
"Power consumption = 3W MAX"

So at 5v, it will draw 0.6amps maximum. So a 600mA or above would be sufficient. 500mA would likely be ok depending how likely it is to need that max draw. I can't see any reason it could not be powered all the time, they are suggesting it for security which would certainly need to be permanently active.

I've pre-ordered one, but am debating pre-ordering a second, but if it turns out crap I would be **** off if I bought two. If it turns out great I am going to be kicking myself if I don't, can't win.

Thanks, I'll try when it arrives. I got a similar priced Sricam SP012, which works with IP CENTCOM on my laptop and tinyCam Monitor on Android. IP CENTCOM can control movement but doesn't pick up the audio well, tinyCam can pick up the audio but not move the camera. The Sricam app does everything and doesn't look too bad. Be interesting to see how this Digoo compares.

Mines actually arrived. Took me over an hour to get the damn thing connected (using the smart Vue app eventually worked)

It works great, just wished it had a wide angle lens as the viewable area is quite limited.

nige182
5 Oct 16 #48
Mine arrived today too

Short test, video seems pretty good, audio is possibly worse than the Sricam SP012 I recently got to try as well. Once set up using 360eye, it does seem to work over Onvif with tinyCam on Android, though I cannot move the camera with that app (same problem with the Sricam as well). Also works with IP Centcom on Windows and control of movement works, but is reversed just like the other apps. So the Sricam wins on that element (unless you need reversed controls of left and right of course).

Haven't tried remotely yet either, that will be a job for another day, along with a video comparison of the two different cameras I am trying. One thing I dislike on both though is the inability to turn off the auto night vision mode. I actually want to operate them without night vision.

TURN ON CAMERA AP FIRST! You then need to connect your phone/tablet to the camera wifi first (not using app but the usual wifi settings) . Then using the 360eye app, switch to your home wifi. That second step actually connects your camera to your router. I was only able to do this after watching the vid as I couldn't follow the printed instructions properly.
iffy1234
13 Oct 16 #55
Received two of mine already. Seem really good. Although one has a black mark inside the lens that shows up on the image but cant clean it so that will need to be replaced. The other one is working no issues. Still awaiting delivery for one more.

Quick installation:
1. Download the recommended app 360eye (some people have used VueSmartHome which is the same app with different name branding)
2. Connect Camera to power.
3. Press Reset button for a few seconds camera will say out voice prompts.
4. Run the app and use the first option, use your normal router wifi ssid and password NOT the camera.
5. Enjoy.

As this doesnt use IP address it uses the Device ID which I am guessing is cloud based setup. You should change the password for the camera, which you will be prompted to do anyway. But still I am a bit apprehensive if our friends in China can remotely take over and view.

Also tested on another device using data so external network. Works the same.
nige182
13 Oct 16 #56
How stable was yours over data? I got it to connect over data but it wasn't stable at all in my brief test.

Comparing to the Sricam SP012 of a similar price, I found both had advantages, the Digoo is smaller and appears slightly better quality image, the night vision is clearer and the night vision LEDs are actually dimmer. However it does have that fairly bright blue LED on the SD slot. Also the Digoo has those annoying voice prompts which will happen if there is a power cycle through outage or a surge, the Sricam does not. Also the Sricam has an external aerial (presumably for stronger wifi, though both seemed fine in my test) and wired network option as well. Both have to be set up with their own app but can then be used with Onvif profiles in other apps.
iffy1234
13 Oct 16 #57
The two I have used so far seem to have performed well. My only concern with these is safety as you dont want the Chinese to be viewing you. So would like to open up further and check software when I get time. A way around may be to restrict IP's for external viewing and keep a whitelist. And the blue light is annoying.

Have you tried to play the AVI files it records, I didn't have much joy earlier but will try again later. For the price I think they are good.
nige182
13 Oct 16 #58
Didn't even put an SD card in either the Digoo or the Sricam. I really want to record remotely, or even locally on a TV box would make me happy as it could record to my Onedrive for instance. Should be doable there as you can view it within other software, eg. IP CENTCOM or tinyCam.

I am actually debating opening one of the Digoos (I have two) and seeing how it is constructed, see if I can turn off that poxy startup voice, even by disconnecting the speaker and turn off the night lights, not bothered if it switches to b/w when darker but don't actually want the lights on for one of mine as want it pointing outside from a windowsill (reflection of light on window, obviousness of light shining and the fact there are streetlights outside).
iffy1234
14 Oct 16 #59
I like your idea about the remote recording. My thoughts exactly may want to open one of mine up too and disconnect the speaker and lights. The night vision is an issue here too when pointing out of the window as reflection comes back specially in the dark - maybe putting some masking take can be a quick fix
nige182
14 Oct 16 #60
Masking tape or even thick insulation tape isn't perfect as the lights sit further back there is still a bit of light bleed. Plus the side light, would basically have to tape up the whole camera and cut a lens hole in it.
iffy1234
14 Oct 16 #61
ah ok my third one arrived today which is also working fine. Just one of them has a black mark that shows up in the pictures but is behind the lens so that maybe the one to open and play with unless I complain not sure they replace. Has anyone had experience dealing with faulty items with Banggood. Never had issues with other stuff before so will continue using them, this a manufacture side problem.
MrFizzy
15 Oct 16 #62
I'm still trying to get my faulty one sorted. Apart from the blue light it is completely dead. Now had 3 emails from them asking me to try ridiculous tests like putting closer to wifi router, changing the password, checking it is using the right frequency etc. I keep explaining it is dead. The last email I've had from them is now asking me to send them a video of it! I assume they work on the principle that most people will give up and just bin it.
iffy1234
15 Oct 16 #63
Ah keep everyone in the loop. I will email and update everyone
MrFizzy
18 Oct 16 #64
Well I sent them the video they requested which shows me connecting power to the camera and it doing absolutely nothing. I have explained clearly and repeatedly that it is dead. They have now replied telling me to try using it with a password that doesn't have any special characters in it!

There is no camera wifi showing both imn the general wifi list or the list showing on the app. My camera after about a minute finishes it's started thing I can reset to default settings, but there is NO working wifi on it I guess? as I cant see anything other than my own and about 15 listed from the street. What a piece of crap this camera is. How can so many have useless non working wifi chips inside them.

[EDIT] This is with use of separate SSID's for my 2.4 and 5Ghz band. All frequencies are correct, security is the highest level you can get which is apparently supported. Iv'e tried with disabling 5ghz and removing the PW from the 2.4Ghz and still nothing.

What name of SSID was the cameras own which your on about connecting to first?.... and unlocked I guess.

That's not going to be a real issue for me as the camera will only move as and when I decide to otherwise it will be stationary. Did anyone buy the newer BB-M2? If you have how do you set it up so you can access it when away from home?

Got mine and it looks and works fine but just cannot manage to connect to it when I'm away from home. There's too many settings and I haven't got a clue what needs to be done, I've turned on the ONVIF as I'm sure I've heard that's what's needed but its still not working. nige182
18 Jan 17 #79
I got the BB-M2, I know I have it working through my browser away from home, but can't recall if the app works as the app is on my other phone. To work outside your home through a browser requires a little work, not hard but a little bit of time and effort, setting up DDNS and port forwarding in your router.
steevieboy4u
18 Jan 17 #80
Don't suppose you've got a step by step guide how to do this? How come the first version BB-M1 camera worked without having to do this?
nige182
18 Jan 17 #81
The BB-M1 used a third party app which worked outside your home network, but had limited Onvif support (I could never get controls working over Onvif) and had no built in support for viewing through a web browser. The BB-M2 uses their own app which has extra features but unfortunately I think it does not work outside your home network. However, it supports switching the IR cut and night mode off, full Onvif with control of motors, RTSP, DDNS support built in and support for viewing over any web browser. One extra thing I will add to the BB-M2 is that in addition to turning off night mode, using the web interface you can also reduce the fps, and increase the exposure. This means that if you have it pointing out your window onto a lit street for instance, you can drop to 5fps and increase the light it captures giving a better image after dark.

Step by step guide would be hard to make as I didn't use the in built DDNS support but instead set up the DDNS to my router which would depend entirely on what router you are using.

First step though before worrying about the DDNS is to make sure you can view the camera and are happy with the built in web interface. Find the camera IP address, I think this is in the app somewhere (I got that from my router too though), then open your preferred browser, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc (I recommend Firefox or Chrome over IE if you have the option for a reason that will become clear shortly). Now type in the address bar the IP address along with the port, by default I believe this is 81. eg. if the IP address of your camera is 192.168.1.100 then type in '192.168.1.100:81'. This should give you a screen to login, by default I think the username 'admin' with a blank password works. Obviously I would change these if you are going to make it available over the internet (do that within the app). Once you have logged on you have a basic page, first option is for live stream on Internet Explorer, but for that you first have to install some additional software which I think the link is at the bottom of this page, however Firefox and Chrome can both select the second option and get past having to install anything. You should see your camera, be able to change options, control the motors, etc. This is the interface you can make available over the internet using a DDNS.
steevieboy4u
18 Jan 17 #82
Thanks for all that.

I'll have a play as soon as I get the chance. Do you have to pay for the DDNS or have you got a static IP address? Totally new to all this, downloaded an app the other day 'tinyCam PRO' and the amount of stuff you can do with that is unreal. Way too complex for what I need. With the BB-M1 I found that the Vue Smart Home App worked best.

Thanks again for the help
nige182
18 Jan 17 #83
DDNS is to get around having a dynamic IP address. So with a static IP address you would just need to forward a port on your router and that would be it, eg. port 10551 to the internal IP of your camera, port 81. Then from outside your network you would type your home static IP address followed by port 10551 in the same manner as before and get to the camera. However with a dynamic IP address this stops working when your IP address changes unless you know the new IP address, this is what a DDNS gets around, instead of typing your IP address you type the DDNS address with the port you have forwarded. As soon as your ISP change your dynamic IP to a different address, the DDNS auto updates to your new IP address without you doing anything.

Some DDNS are free, others are paid. I am using a free one with no issues, but again it depends on your router to what ones it supports, the BT Smart Hub for instance supports half a dozen or so, most free, but one DynDNS is a paid only option.

tinyCam Pro works well with the BB-M2 and can control the motors, unlike the BB-M1 where I couldn't get it to control the motors, the main advantage I see in tinyCam is if you have several different brand cameras to view in one app, or if you use an old mobile phone as the camera. If you are only using the Digoo cameras then the Digoo app (or browser version) is easier to use and gives better control of the extra options.

It should be fine, it definitely supports DDNS link, but several Google results are of people having problems using DuckDNS (not the one I use btw) and others saying to works fine. steevieboy4u, another option I have just read on the Banggood forums is that apparently the app NetCam360 on the Google Play store works perfectly with the BB-M2 and looks the same (probably the same camera), there is some suggestion that this app works outside the home network without any port forwarding or other configuration.

Hehe, no worries, I didn't get the Netcam360 app working remotely myself when I tried anyway. Lots of people had issues with remote connection on the Digoo app. Glad you have it working now anyway. My next job is to play about with tinyCam Pro and see if I can get multiple cams working and saving video to the cloud from them, plus remote playback all in one place. Hi Nige.........me again
Had an issue with my phone for a few weeks and finally managed to find out what was causing it a few days ago so thought I'd see if you'd experienced the same thing.
I've got a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 and to be honest I love it, never had any issues with it.
Then all of a sudden none of my notifications were working, any alarms would just beep instead of playing music or alarms. Ringing was just the same a beep beep noise! It was driving me mad I tried everything to sort it. I even factory reset my phone and wiped everything and then reinstalled everything but it still happened. Then by chance I tried my alarm when the Digoo App wasn't running and it worked! Started the app again and everything stopped! So now I just have to start the app when I want to check my camera and then force stop it after I've finished otherwise all my notifications stop again. I've just updated Android to 6.0.1 so checked it again but it's still the same. So glad I found the work around but thought I'd ask you in case you were experiencing the same issue as it drove me mad! :man:
