Hi, I just purchased this for £34.30 instead of £59.99.
Firstly search for the Ocado Groupon offer & purchase a £60 Ocado voucher for £44 but on Groupn add voucher code WELCOME & save another £10 (new customers only) that will give you £60 for £34.
Once on Ocado add the Phillips Hue Starter Kit and a 35p Sherbet, then go to checkout and add your voucher code, you will then only pay Ocado 30p
So you'll get the kit for £34.30 (£34 for Groupon code & 30p to Ocado)
Please note that the earliest delivery date seems to be in 2 weeks, it may be quicker for you depends on where you live.
EDIT: Get £6.30 from TopCashback so it would now make it £28.00
Do they do a bayonet fitt kit as I don't have any screw fittings for these bulbs?

They do E27 & B22.

20 Sep 16#31
They do the Hue ambiance kit with bayonet (B22) bulbs, but not the Hue White kit, I have only managed to find that in screw fit (E27). You can get Hue White bulbs bayonet fit for about £15 each but you'll still need the hub. I have purcahsed this kit and then purchased some B22 to E27 converters from Ikea koppla I think they are called.

Do you need the 'Hue Hub' to work with Amazon Echo or can I just order individual bulbs???
pc390 to Ghostface666
20 Sep 16#13
Hi, you need a Hue Hub to use the bulbs. The system basically works by connecting the Hue Hub to your network and then by adding Hue bulbs to the Hue Hub.

not sure if this will work as it says not to be used with any other promotion or voucher code, I've tried with Groupon that says the same but its not even tracked yet.

be very careful with these converters, for one they add about 2 inch to the length of the lamp so the lamp will probably stick above a lamp shade, also if you screw the bulb too far in you'll get a short circuit and blow your expensive bulbs up, I know I've done it (more than once :disappointed: )

Still don't see the point of these, just over complicates what should just be a simple task of switching a light on when you enter a room.
Mentos to SFconvert
20 Sep 16#42
Of course they're pointless in rooms where you have a single light source you switch on when you enter and switch off when you exit.
A bit more useful where you have multiple light sources. Say bedroom where you have main lights and bedside lamp. Or living room where you have main lights plus various lamps.
I don't have these, but do have remote dimmers in the bedrooms and living room. Quite handy not having to get out of bed to switch the lights off, get up to switch the lights off when you decide to watch a movie, turn them on as evening draws in, etc. Also I guess with these you can control the lights while away to give the impression someone is home.
Where light control really comes into its own is when you set various mood lighting that you can switch between at the touch of a button. Thats a project I've got earmarked for the future

20 Sep 16#40
Have LIFX and countless connection issues. I went with them over Hue due to no need for a hub and was cheaper if just wanted 1 or 2 bulbs. Now I'm so fed up with them I'm switching to Hue. Have to reset my router virtually every day to get the lifx to work.

20 Sep 161#41
Do you need to already have dimmers to use the dimming on these or can you dim with standard switches in place?

20 Sep 16#45
Hmm... I have 4 LIFXs, had a problem with one but LIFX people were very helpful and it's now sorted. Colors are much deeper and from what I can see they're brighter than any Hue bulb.
On the other hand, hub is better in certain situations and Hue ecosystem is much more developed with now so many options.
If only LIFX were compatible with HomeKit so we could have best of both...
Also LIFX already supports almost everything Hue offers via integration with IFTTT.

Thanks OP, took ages due to an issue Groupon's end but ended up paying £50 for £80 worth of shopping, including the lights!
May even get a further £10 off from Topcashback for buying the Groupon through them....
However, just realised I forgot to go through TCB for Ocado. Is there anything I can do about that retrospectively?

Thanks Op. I was just about to pull the trigger on a Flubit offer for the £100 White Ambiance starter pack at £93 but using this method I will have only spent £63 if TCB tracks. Heat added.
Tempted to get my wife to setup an account and get the light strip this way too but note someone saying they had difficulty with the shared address...

My Philips Hue strip light arrived last night in its 1 hour delivery slot, great service and a £70 light for a net cost of £43.95 plus the £6 cash back may also sweeten the deal (although not guaranteed).
For all those who missed this then Amazons Black Friday is when the Hue stuff normally gets slashed, just have to wait till the end of November for it.

22 Sep 16#63
Balls. Bought the Groupon before checking the lightstrip availability! Oh well. Bottle of Vodka and a Hue Tap switch for £35.50 still isn't bad. Guess I'll have to wait until Black Friday to try and bag two lightstrips

Have just had the following email from Ocado, have had £2.50 deducted from my back account today and apparantly also used the £60 voucher for a tin of Cannelini beans and no Hue lights...
Your receipt for today’s delivery is attached to this email. I’ll be delivering your 18:00-19:00 order and, so you’ll know it’s me, I’ll be driving the Cabbage van.

Something I've wondered with these, to control via app you'd have to leave the standard wall switch in the on position. What if you enter a room and just want to turn the Philips bulb on manually, is this possible? A double click of the wall switch or something like that?
flstivvy to aforumac
27 Oct 16#74
Thats right, you'd have to turn it off and back on again and it'll come on at full brightness. I've just put a blank faceplates on my switches and have the remote controls.

ah thanks, that's ok then I'm happy with that. I intend using some bulbs for main areas for security/schedules, but want to retain the manual option for when we are in and out of rooms. Just ordered from ocado with the voucher I got after initial order was out of stock
