If you want a 1060, I'd say the ASUS Turbo card is pretty decent. There's also a small few other companies that make mini versions that have blower-like fans (e.g from Zotac, EVGA). If you want a 1070 or 1080, there's the ASUS Turbo or the MSI Aero.

Looks a good deal, shame it has gone up £10, I thought about getting it but went for this instead:
I think they're both about the same from what I have read.

No, the Pascal cards start to throttle down clocks at around 82-83c. A card like this will hold its performance better, there's no question about it. That's assuming your case is adequately vented.

I always see reviews on how well these perform for 1080p and 4K etc, but how good are they for VR? The RX 480 is pumped for VR use but I don't see it mentioned for these

It's faster and will be even faster if and when developers start to use the hardware SMP features.

Surely these cards are made in East Asia so if the American dollar falls in value, thereby making the pound stronger against it this will have no affect on the cost of East Asian imports?

I've a r9 but thanks for the heads up. I did consider the card for one of my mini rigs.

When the pound regains some of its strength against the US Dollar - so if Trump wins in the USA and the currency investors start to panic that could be around the end of the year!

Sadly yes, mini-HDMI and DVI gone, and it's out of warranty - only DP works now. It's quite a common issue apparently - you have the same issue?

Worth while upgrade from a R9 285? Debating but its still a lot of money to just drop like that

Thanks. Useful info.
I'm also considering a 1060 but a blower version due to space limitations in my X51 R2. I think this would be a nice upgrade from the 960 I've currently got in there? Was thinking of getting a 970 and since two of the ports on my 960 have gone, I really do need to get something to replace it. 970 or 1060?

I upgraded from 960 to a 970 the 970 has so so much more power , I was playing medium/high settings 1080p on the 960 and the 970 just blitzes everything at 1080p on ultra and a lot of games at 1440p too, and some stuff on 4K at medium settings providing you turn off MSAA
So the 1060 would be a massive improvement in my opinion

The question of 'worth it' or not is hard to answer as it's personal.
However, the difference between a 960 and a 1060 is huge.
It's, on average, well over twice as fast as the 960.
The 1060 beats the 980 and is around 15-20% slower than the 980ti. It's a great card and it shouldn't even be compared to the 960, full stop.
It's a difference price bracket and a different performance bracket.

Good card, I've got the armor oc edition and can easily get over 10'000 in 3dmark with a mild overclock and an i5.

evga sc or asus turbo? ive been looking at them both. would you think a 1060 is worth it from a 960? im pretty happy with the 960 playing wow at 2560x1440 on quality 7 most things on high or even ultra

Keeps heat out of the system and 85c is not even hot, your GPU will run happily at up to 105-110c.

One heatpipe, this is the modest gtx 1060 oc so far, check the review here:
It's impossible to guarantee that someone's specific GPU/PSU setup won't have coil whine. Although it's often possible to fix it by maxing out the card for a few hours.
Glad to hear your one didn't have coil whine, though.

because of small form factor g20
do you believe this would work then? temps inside the case be affected?

Does not work like that anymore this is better then the 970 almost on par with the 980 basically nothing in it.

For 6gb its a good price. Was researching and because all 1060s are overclockable to the same point, and the ones with double fans are pretty much identical in cooling, you should just go for the cheapest option in a manufacturers lineup. All you are paying for is pre overclocking.
Just Wondering to jaffa_the_cake

EVGA sc 1060 has better fans, no coil whine

Great price and would be going for it myself if I had not just bought the LG Ultrawide freesync monitor that was on here. Kind of locks me into AMD for the time being.

I admit I love how the founders edition looks but why on earth would you want a blower version? Recalling some of the reviews the blower version would reach 85°C whereas this reached a maximum of 67 and that's at stress test levels, which I just noticed is on the review link the OP has included
