Its the sd slot - thats the key - the 16GB is no problem, just get a 128GB £35 card (assuming this device accepts 128GB?)

lack of compass is the one thing I dislike on my G4plus - if you walk around using the phone for mapping then it will bug you (you'll walk round in circles!) otherwise it's a great phone. Dual 3G on both Sims at same time finally makes dual sim disable for Three network customers!

I used to be like this - if I can give you some really honest advice, jump ship now and get out of the Apple ecosystem and get more control, I used Samsung Smart Switch and even got my messages transferred properly but it's the best change I could ever make knowing I can use any phone now not just what Apple invents and markets next (and let's face it their innovation is virtually nil now). It did take me a day or two to get the transfer just right but it was worth it for things I'd missed like waterproofing, open data transfer, BitTorrent, expandable memory and more RAM to name a few.

I haven't totally dropped them, I still use my iPads daily but it's the lack of control over the OS that really bugs me - being able to drag and drop new items into Android or upgrade/downgrade relatively freely is very helpful. I was fond of my Apple Watch but dropped it for a Garmin Fenix 3, charging it daily was a real chore and if you forgot the charging cable (which Apple basically pulled your pants down over) it was all but useless. If the opportunity arises, I would highly advise you try it though.

Ordered a G4 Plus this morning, how long does the email order confirmation take to come through?

Took nearly 3 hours before getting an email confirmation. delivery seems to be even slower, ordered on the 9th Sep, despatch notification on the 12th, delivery estimated on 18th Sep.

The delivery delay is because these phones ordered from Motorola are supposedly built to order - you customise the colour of the backs and camera surround etc. Once built they are sent from China which adds another 2 days.

Mine arrived this morning, stock android is the best experience. The only observation is that, it's getting a bit warm, noticed when it was downloading the updates and all my previous apps (old phone broke), after the initial set up. not when using it, did some research and looks like the processor is known for overheating issues. but light users should be fine, like myself.

hey, I ordered moto g4 plus 64gb about 24hrs ago. still not got email confirmation. I did get Motorola website confirmation which I printed out and screenshot. but no email. anyone else have more than 24hrs with no email...but still got their phone? thanks

I did find an online chat section on the website, I asked on there and they confirmed my order.

I ordered one for my son on the 7th sept. I got confirmation email within a few hours. I followed the link in the email and it gives you the status of your order.... Mine was completed on the 7th, but still hasnt moved to 'in Transit'. Estimated delivery was supposed to be 14th sept.

I used the web chat to chase it, but they said it had already been shipped to a courier and that they were unable to check its status.

Oh well, will give it a bit longer before pestering them again!

Does anyone know which courier they use? It states DHL on website, but thought i heard fed ex mentioned somewhere.

I ordered on the 14th September, had an email at midnight last night (16th September) saying order has been shipped. On the order tracker it is still just showing as Order Complete.

I don't think so. The only thing you can follow is the order status. It shows as order complete for a good few days until finally saying it's going to be delivered.

Mine is exactly the same as yours. Email says estimated delivery 21st Sept.

I hope it arrives soon, my old mobile got left in my jeans pocket and went through a cycle in the washing machine, having to use a 9 year old Nokia N95 until this new one arrives.

Some information that might be helpful.

I have just received an email from moto with my invoice attached. On the invoice is a reference number. This reference number is the tracking number, and you can check the status of your order with it by using fedex tracking.

It seems they have only just despached mine from china and the guy on live chat was telling porkies. I ordered on 7th sept and fedex state it will be delivered on 23rd sept.

Hope this is helpful for anyone wishing to track their order, but unfortunately you do have to wait for your invoice! or try and obtain it via live chat...though this never worked for me

Just an update for all you waiting to receive the phone. Mine was lost by FEDEX, I ordered on the 5th and the online tracking showed delivered on the 12th, then it changed to "in transit". I called FEDEX and they said that it arrived at their Hatfield depot on the 11th and after that it's missing and they don't know where it is. On Friday, Fedex told me that they've asked China to tell them how it was packaged.. (it's a bloody phone, how should it be packaged? )
I raised a case with both Motorola and FEDEX and filed a dispute with Paypal to protect my money.
The thing is that after 12 days I still don't have a phone or my money back.
My advice is to monitor status of your order and call Fedex in advance to make sure it'll be delivered. If any delay occurs, file a case immediately.

I received my invoice earlier and didn't see the Fed Ex tracking number​, after reading your post I found it.

Mine is sat at label created, anticipated shipment date is today (17/09/16) and scheduled delivery date is Friday (23/09/16).

Not very impressed with motos super long delivery time and work it out for yourself tracking details. My order was complete on the 7th sept, so unless it changes again, 19 days to potentially arrive.

Just been setting it up for the lad and seems pretty good. We did notice the camera was juddery when recording video, but found that if you de select the shake assist (picture of hand symbol)...the problem is solved, no more juddering. Hope this is helpful, as I was ready to send it back!

Loving this thread, first a good deal on a phone, followed by detailed tracking of parcels with a detailed view on how Fedex do different things to different parcels that are all in the same shipment :man: and trouble shooting reports on the phone before mine has even arrived :innocent:

Only issue I have is my old mobile took a nano sim and this one uses a micro sim, other than getting a new sim from the Vodafone shop tomorrow is there an easy way to use my current sim?

Fastest way is to pop to Tesco and buy one of their pay as you go sims for 99p. They come as three sizes in one so pop the nano size of and put yours in and can use the outside part to make it into micro size.
One word of warning though is using adapters like this has caught me out a couple of times, be very careful when removing he sim in the future as often the other part will catch on the gold contacts in the phone. I've ruined the sim slot a couple of times in the past

Never had any issues with the lack of compass. As soon as you're moving the maps know which way you are travelling so can't see why there would be any limitations not having one.

Simply means that the map won't orient to the direction you're facing until you move. Also affects some apps (like sky/star viewing apps).

​I ordered a G4 plus S Line case (not flip though) from eBay for £2 and got a free screen protector.

Cover is OK but screen protector is for a standard G4 not a G4 plus so had to cut a bit off so it didn't cover the fingerprint scanner.

Mine is officially lost, Motorola says won't refund me until I withdraw the dispute from PayPal. If I do though I won't have any protection and can't open a new one. I think I'll escalate it to a claim and let PayPal sort it out.

Not impressed - apparently my order has been cancelled - no reason given. Been advised to re-order!!! Not great customer service having chased this 3-4 times. :disappointed: I suspect it is because colour choice is now out of stock - although was fine when ordered.

Ok - so i've found out what the issue is. I'm posting this info just in case it helps someone else avoid the same problem. I telephoned Motorola who were very helpful and apologetic. Basically, if the address you enter is not identified by Google maps your order is put on hold and then later cancelled. Our address has a house name, house number/road name, village name, town name and then postcode. Google maps does not have our house name listed - just the number! So it cancelled my order. Great!! I am now reordering and trying to get Google Maps updated :disappointed:

It's not really fair on a retailer to open a dispute quickly for an item that appears to be lost especially if by that you mean a courier has lost it.

Maybe you did open the dispute a bit prematurely, but as you cant re-open the dispute if you withdraw, then I would just escalate it and let paypal sort it.

You have to look after yourself and cant guarantee that Motorola will refund without issue.
I am still waiting for a refund from carphonewarehouse after 17 days...wish id have had the option to use PayPal!

Finally, I got a full refund today and the dispute was closed without escalating to a claim. I bought the phone on the 5th and was lost on the 11th, got refunded on the 23rd. Pity though, I really liked the phone but I was pressed to have one as my old broke. I bought a ZUK Z1 for 126gbp and overall I'm happy with it.
Now, I have to figure out what to do with the cover and glass screen protector I already bought for the G4 Plus.... :smiley:

I got 16gb dual sim from Amazon, but proximity sensor not working at all, screen doesn't go dark when talking or even if i put my finger over proximity sensor still screen is on.

Anyone else having problems placing an order? Using the motorola UK site (Moto Maker) I get as far as checkout, fill out payment and delivery fields and yet there doesn't appear to be a next step, a confirmation button for example to complete the order.

It's showing in my basket, with discount applied - but I cannot proceed further...

I tried the laughably entitled customer service chatbot and was advised there was an 'issue' and to try the site again 24-48hrs. It's been 2 days already and I haven't been able to place the order.

Having had first order cancelled by Motorola due to Google maps not liking my address (?!?!?) now on second order. After three web chats and three days I finally have ................. an email to confirm my order. This is progress folks. Apparently delivery is Thursday, but not counting my chickens.

No I had no problems with that - but that was 3 days ago. The problems I've had is that I placed an order - had confirmation number on screen - then nothing, no confirmation emails. A week later finally found out it was cancelled. So to get this far is progress for me. I didn't have the issue you are having. But I notice that the Moto G4 Plus is out of stock in black - are you trying to order that by any chance?

Trying for G4 here, in black - not the plus. All I've succeeded in doing is having circular conversations via the online chat service, who confirm there is an 'issue' but nothing more. I don't have an email address. I've been using 03339-997-550 - phoned them twice. Initially american recorded voice but transfers to a British operative. They were very helpful with my issue BUT I was not able to buy over the phone. I cannot now get through checkout either!! I looked up the 0333 and it is dealt with like 01 02 03 so shouldnt be an issue

I just managed to pass through checkout and get a confirmation number. No email yet but furthest I've got.

Paypal declined my attempt just now. Perhaps because they authorised the same purchase last week and Motorola didn't complete the checkout purchase. But the credit card I just tried went through fine. Even though Motorola's site got stuck with the same card last week too.

Perhaps they've fixed the glitch just now?

Fingers crossed then. My advice is to contact webchat in the morning and give them your email and the order confirmation number that was on screen (if you have it). They should be instantly able to tell you if your order has been confirmed or not. If it has you should receive an email later...... but bear in mind mine took nearly 3 days

I'm still getting the same hanging page having filled out credit card details - what was different when it worked? Did a confirmation button or follow through page pop up once you filled in the shipping and payment fields?

I didn't do anything different. Been using a tablet the whole time to order. Once all the fields were filled out the buy now button appeared which is the last step before confirmation screen.

I assumed they fixed their checkout system. Hope you can get a bit further!

I've tried different devices (just now an iPad), a laptop, desktop PC, using Chrome, Edge and Safari - same result. Really odd.

I just did a quick test and all looks ok for me. Which screen is the buy button not appearing on? It lets me get the page where I enter my address details and can either leave as credit card or change to paypal and the buy button is visible and clickable the whole time at the bottom. The buy button for me is on a non movable strip across the bottom of the screen, as you scroll the screen down it is always visible.
Is it possible the combination of colour and memory size is now out of stock and that's why it won't let you checkout? Could be something to with that and the fact you already have it in your basket (actually probably not as you said you tried again from scratch). Maybe try a private browser session or incognito mode.

Tried from scratch making sure all the colour combos were in stock, but might try again from home tonight on a different laptop.

It's FINALLY worked - just as you describe, there should be a floating panel with a greyed out 'Buy' button at the page footer present throughout payment process. It was absent before. Looks like they have fixed it.

Further word of advice if you want any possibility of tracking your order once it is placed, you MUST be signed into their system via your google account/identity before making the purchase. It is not sufficient to be signed in via their 'in house' system, this appears to only be applicable to the customer service end of the company and completely separate from Sales. Tracking after point becomes a real pain and it is impossible to review order history via the Motorola website - you areinstead obliged to check in every now and again with the barely coherent chat drones at the other end with their scripted responses.

Pretty unimpressed by the effort necessary just to effect a simple purchase with a global retailer - at least they make good phones, fingers crossed!

If you do not require dual sim (in black!) then I would strongly recommend going through a third party retailer - ideally one you can just walk out the shop with the product in your hand!

- Oh yeah, yet to receive a confirmation email, no point in counting chickens just yet ;p

Sadly I'm getting nowhere! Two different laptops, 3 different browsers, says in stock each time I choose the colour combination but I never get beyond choosing PayPal.

I would suggest calling - finally got to the bottom of what was going on with my order. It appears it's been put on hold for 3 days and had been slated to be cancelled, and I would never have known. Turns out the people manning the phones are more than a little aware of the shortcomings of the online delivery system, and are surprisingly sympathetic. Phone them in the morning: 03339 997 550

Ridiculous isn't it? I only found out my order had been cancelled after 7 days! I had spoken to them 2-3 times on web chat prior to being finally told this. Reason was because Google maps has our address listed as a house number only and I had given house name AND number = cancel order :confused:

Black AND White 64gb variant both showing as out of stock now.
Wonder if that was part of the issue; they just didn't have the stock to fulfil orders but their system wasn't clever enough to update the first stage of the order process.
Either way, think I'll start looking at alternative dual sim phones, too much hassle now.

I've had mine about a week now and I'm really liking it. Especially the pretty much stock Android! I've come from Samsung and this is a very refreshing change. The battery is great, turbo charge is amazing. Spec wise, the screen isn't as good as my S4 but I really haven't noticed.

The speaker on the front is nice and clear, I can hear notifications and the phone ringing from my handbag which I never could with my S4.

AND maybe most importantly, it seems to keep a mobile signal far better than my S4. I am used to having NO signal 90% of the time in my house. Now I have signal 90% of the time :laughing:

The only problem I have is that it is slightly too big for my hand. I haven't put a case on yet so maybe I am gripping a bit harder to make sure I don't drop it but it's just a little uncomfortable at times.

Apart from that, I am happy :sunglasses:

On first appearance the screen didn't look as good as my Z3 Compact but I think it's just the large app icons on the home screen that don't look as sharp, if you play a HQ video on YouTube it looks just as good.

Battery is surprisingly good and turbo charger is also good.

I did miss not having a few standard apps pre installed like photo album.

Anyone else had comments from Apple fans? Had a couple pick it up and say 'nice is that a 7 plus?' When I say no it's a Motorola they then say 'oh it's a bit big'

Only had mine since Monday and in general I am happy with it. I am just disappointed I hadn't realised that I couldn't use All Cast with it. It seems the only way to stream through my smart tv from this phone is via Chromecast.......unless someone knows another way of course? I am also not keen on the large app icons.

Put a launcher like nova on and you can adjust all the icon and widget sizes

Well my Moto G4 Plus 64gb turned up today - exactly on time and one week from ordering. Very happy and a bit excited to be honest. I went for the white (black OOS) with wood back - looks great. I've had Moto G 1st gen since time began (or so it feels like) so this is a massive upgrade in several respects. Looking forward to finding my way round it.

Three or four times in the 3 months of ownership. Also had a screen issue where it would do random things. It only stunned to do it if I was using it while it was charging.
Both issues seem to have stopped since the last software update which I think was a couple of weeks ago.

Should I update the software or not, as people have got issues after updating. mine still running smooth and haven't updated yet from day one.

I'm all up to date and have no issues. For me the two issues I had - several reboots and screen going crazy if using while charging - seem to have gone away.
I guess it's a case of it it ain't broke don't fix it! For me I can't handle the nagging to update so I always do. The fear of missing out on something new. Although nothing new I've noticed on the latest update.

​They use FedEx. if they emailed you invoice, tracking number should be on it. Track it through FedEx tracking. Normally take a week to deliver from China.

They emailed me a link which shows the status of the order and its been on 'order complete' since 1st October but no sign of shipping?

Have they sent your invoice? It might be right at the bottom of your email? If you have your invoice, the shipping tracking number is within the main body of the invoice - not one of the reference numbers at the top. If you have it put that tracking number into fedex and it will give you the details. If you don't have the invoice then I recommend you go on to motorola - go to webchat and get them to verify your order, ask for invoice to be emailed to you but also ask them for your tracking/shipping number for fedex. They can also give you delivery date -which for me was accurate. Also try phoning up fedex who can prob search under your post code and verify delivery date.Mine was one week from order date to delivery date. Hope this helps.

I ordered one on Tuesday (Oct 4th) and also only got the scrren order confirmation the same as you. My PayPal account shows that the 229 hasn't been paid yet, but is still pending: "Your funding source will be charged when Interpay, Inc. completes your order".
I imagine I'll hear more in the next couple of days.

Similar happened to me, only I got an error during the motorola checkout advising of error. Customer service couldn't find any record of the transaction despite the paypal confirmation so started an investigation.

I re-ordered using a card instead as I didn't want to wait. Took them a week to come back from the investigation saying no sale had happened for the paypal purchase.

Had the phone a couple of weeks now though and am very impressed. So pleased I went for it :-)

"Order has been placed and it's awaiting to forwarded to fulfillment centre. Once its forwarded to the fulfillment centre you'll be getting order confirmation mail. If the orders are more then there might be slight delay in order confirmation e-mail"

Order Status shows only that my order was approved on Oct 4th, but gives no indication that the order has been cancelled.
My PayPal account now doesn't show that 229 is pending so it does seem to have been cancelled.
Very disappointing service, to be honest. No proper confirmation that order has been received or is being processed. Poor quality answers to queries, and then cancelling with no reason given.

That is not correct. Phones that state "compass" means they (should) have a tiny 3-axis digital compass IC on board with magnetic sensing for North.
Gyroscope senses orientation (non magnetic forces - so can't determine North).
G-Sensor/Accelerometer senses acceleration (again non magnetic forces).

Anyone tried the unidays code with multiple phones in a single transaction? It looks like its only applying the code to one of the phones in my cart.

Alternatively has anyone been successful in ordering multiple phones in separate transactions - the T&Cs suggest its only valid for 1 transaction (does that just mean one code == 1 transaction). Basically I didn't want to use the discount on a single phone order to find I can't order more separately with the discount.

Yes, all single orders but a total of 4 ordered all with the Unidays discount. Think that was 2 codes repeated.

If you are ordering more than one phone then u need two diff codes I guess

Just separate orders I think. The ones I've ordered have been spaced out so not all at once and they all went through fine. Not sure if the system might throw a wobbly if two separate transactions on the same day. I would just do one, wait a couple of days until the order is confirmed etc and then do the second one.

​Yes if you add 2 phones, discount comes off the cheapest one not the whole order, so you'll need to do 2 separate orders to get the most discount.
