Ordered one to add to my other Makita kit and found it very noisy on the mid setting, so have returned it to Amazon. Am currently waiting to see if the second one is any quieter or if that is just the way they are. Lovey piece of kit and did what it was supposed to do when I tried it..

I would need to get a battery and charger which makes this look less of a good deal for a new buyer. any good ideas where to get them cheap?

Yeah I'd agree with this. I'm not sure how much I'd trust a third party charger and the makita ones are very quick.

I'm pretty sure you can't get a "cheap charger", you have to use the real Makita ones which are fantastic, they will cool and then charge the battery with 22mins. Makita stuff isn't cheap for a reason, its real good quality. I use both Makita and 3rd party batterys. In all honest I don't notice any difference in how long they last. Almost 3 years old.

I've been using one of these alongside 2 3ah and 1 4ah authentic makita lxt batteries and for a quarter of the price you can't go wrong. It lasts longer than all of them in high drain tools like grinder and sds drill and is showing no sign of failing.
worth every penny when I bought one full price,now is a nonbrainer,hot

Bosch one is better, having said that I own the 243Z which is this one with the chuck adapter and I use it for everything except core drilling and it's a great drill.
