I didn't even see that post I'm afraid - in my opinion slightly different as the other was only for sparks members not all members of the public & email invite only from reading the comments

If you read the post it says:-
M&S Sale - Starts 27/09/16 - Sparks members get 50% off sale items now. Now being the 25/09/2016 when the deal was posted.
So it was informing us all of the sale starting. But either way a good reminder..
