It's essentially a JBL Control 2P pair with added wireless source connection. The active speaker will need mains power and the passive speaker needs to be connected via speaker cable. Still a great price for a decent active pair.

Be the future and grab an echo over this.

Or grab an Echo Dot and hook it up to these, which will end up with better quality audio, and cheaper!
Thanks OP, reserved one to use as kitchen speakers.

A good deal. However, what is the point of wireless speakers? I can't see how it reduces the amount of cables used.

Well, if you want to put the speakers 20 metres away from the audio source, you no longer need a 20m cable. But they don't do away with cables completely for course.
And 2.4GHz? How are they for interference? I used to use a 2.4GHz video sender. Had to give up on it .... too much interference. Same with the 2.4GHz wireless headphones I used to have. But I'm in a flat surrounded by quite a bit of wifi. If you're not so "wifi'd" in, it may not be so bad .....

would these work as surround speakers with an av amp? We have solid wood floors and no rugs (don't ask) so running cables from the amp to the back of the room is a real problem

I feel your pain. When we got our "family room" built it was designed as a home cinema as well. But I never thought there would be any need for more than 5.1 speakers and got a window put on one side and a set of french doors on the other and now theres nowhere to mount side speakers.

Could this work with the Amazon Echo system ? so I can play music in another room. not talking about making it two way as I would still give Echo instructions from one room, but if I want to play some music can I connect this to echo so the music I request is played in another room ?

nothing like it, but you could plug a Chromecast Audio into then 3.5mm input and have a decent spec'd cheap wireless hifi.

So transmitter, with power lead. 1 x powered speaker with power lead and 1 x passive speaker connected by speaker wire and need to plug 3.5mm cable from source into transmitter - how is this wireless?! Wouldn't it make more sense to plug 3.5mm straight into the powered speaker and do away with the transmitter?! To use this with Echo Dot you'd need three plug sockets to power it all! JBL charge seems a much better option to me, which is actually wireless!

why would you want wireless speakers if you're just going to connect them to a chromecast? these are meant to be away from any kind of stationary audio source and chromecast/echo dots are very much mobile and wireless already

maybe I'm not quite understanding what these are then. What audio input do these have / are they amplified?

Yeah, 2.4GHz has its problems and probably why this tech is on sale.

3.5mm input on the transmitter means you can connect to PC or anything really. Chromecast has 3.5mm output so it can be connected to any wired or wireless speakers, although connecting to wireless kind of defeats the point.

What makes Chromecast audio great, is the ability to create a multi-room setup on the cheap. Connecting a Chromecast Audio to a set of these makes as much sense as connecting them to any other speaker/amplifier.

Collected mine at the weekend, haven't had time to play with it; looks fine and solid though.
