Yes, it's a refurb... yes, it's a Medion... but for a PC with a 12 months guarantee it's extremely great value for money in my opinion. Will even run some games pretty well too! I think if you put an SSD boot drive in this you'd have a very decent machine.

I dont think the brand matters at all when it comes to PC.. Processors are mostly made by intel.. Rams are made by samsung crucial hynix kingston etc etc... Hard drives are made by wester digital.. Seagate etc etc... Brand of the pc is just a company that puts component manufacturer's parts together.. Therefore whether pc will last long or not doesn't necessarily have much to do with the brand... I think its more to do with the component manufacturers.. But then one thing u gotta take into consideration is the warranty you get.. I think thats the only thing i can think of that is to do with the "brand"

As a brand, Medion have always been superb for me - I've had three base units from them over something like 10 or 11 years and all were built well and still going strong.
Additionally, the refurbished units are quite often unused and either have damaged packaging, or have been used as demonstration models for third parties and still to all intents and purposes brand new. If you can find something similar for better money, by all means share - I suspect you're a brand snob though who can't find anything comparable for the price.

Tried googling it but I'm still clueless - does anyone know if this would run Sims 4 at a reasonable level please? Mrs Bigtricky is gutted that it's not being ported to console and I don't want to spend a fortune on a computer for her to play one game maybe 2 hours a week! Any help appreciated

well this is stronger than the recommended requirements for sims 4 so should be able to run it pretty well.

The game's hardware requirements are quite low. People were able to play SIMS 4 on highest settings using 750ti. This pc is not a proper gaming rig but it will be more than enough for SIMS 4.

It'll play The Sims 4 perfectly fine. I've seen pretty crappy laptops running it on low-medium, so this would do it High easily!

My uncles old medion base unit somehow made its way into my damp old shed and lay there for about 4 years. I pulled it out about a year ago, plugged it in and it powered up and worked flawlessly. Wiped it and passed it on to a friend in need of a PC and it's still being used today with no problems.

Windows isn't fee, at least not Windows 10, unless you're in need of assistive technologies or if not, don't mind the machine annoying you with them, whilst using it.
Also why anybody cares about the brand of a PC is beyond me. They all use the same top manufactures of individual components, the name on the front changes nothing. I'd expect them to be better than me at building a PC and I built my own, with ease.

Providing the case has space and the motherboard isn't proprietary (which in this day and age it shouldn't be) decent upgradeability too. Not my experience. I'm on my 3rd Medion, called them out once and they came to the house. Got a dodgy keyboard replaced and a front fascia without a problem. Like someone said, they are quality parts in a case branded Medion, so I can't understand the bad rep. Just replaced my 9 year old one that I'd passed on to my Dad as it's getting slow due to the specs, nothing wrong with it apart from that.

I got the cube from box.a few years ago Same spec as this without the card. Paid £109 for the card, £25 for extra 4gb ram and about £60 for 250gb ssd and can play all i want superbly, including Project cars . So impressed with this deal i think i must have got the last one. as they sold out just after i ordered. Needed an update for the garage, xp is a bit past it now. Medion are very good. I ordered from them a few years ago and the dvd was faulty. Rang them and they give you a code to return via DPD They will replace or refund. but had no stock No problem. Just sold a PC with the same CPU, 8GB RAM, SSD + HDD, a 7850 (better) and Windows 10 AND three monitors - two 1080p - for less than that - they go for much cheaper on eBay if not having a warranty is OK
(I'm not self-promo-ing mods! This item has sold! - only saying as I've been banned before for apparent self-promo when really I was trying to help someone out, just for posting an eBay link for a seller I was not related to)

Mine just came,
Came in original box, brand new mouse, and keyboard, all documents and manuals, tower was mint! still has all protective plastic on, opened up and inside not a bit of dust on the heatsinks for GPU or CPU, clearly hardly used if at all, im struggling to see why it was B grade? its like a brand new maybe it was a return?
Inside, space for another RAM stick, 2 PCIE slots available (3 in total but GPU covers one) Has WIFI, who ever said on here windows was 32Bit its not it is 64Bit. Very Very pleased!
PSU is 336w so thats the first thing I will upgrade at a later date, after I stick in 4GB more Ram and an SSD.
Not sure what you mean, I have the hot swap dock on top? or did you expect a drive caddy too?
Im hoping everyone got the same standard?
Funghi
8y 28d#73
Mine wasn't quite as good as yours but appears to have been perhaps bought and returned within a couple of days, no dust or anything inside. The bay at the top is not what I would consider a hot swap mobile rack - it will only take Medion HDD2GO external drives so a bit unhappy with that as I've a couple of spare drives I wanted to use in this way but the connections won't allow it.

Sorry it took so long but been busy..
So I have 3 Airport Extremes throughout my house, A1354 models, which are wireless N 130Mbps on 2.4GHz adn 300Mbps on 5GHz (the Medion seems to be 2.4GHz only)
so no matter where I go I get a decent signal.
I was getting between 58Mbps & 72Mbps as the connection speed, and on speed testing I was getting about 12-15Mbps. probably the worst connection in my house, deffo think its worth investing in a 5GHz upgrade.

So I have 3 Airport Extremes throughout my house, A1354 models, which are wireless N 130Mbps on 2.4GHz adn 300Mbps on 5GHz (the Medion seems to be 2.4GHz only)
so no matter where I go I get a decent signal.
I was getting between 58Mbps & 72Mbps as the connection speed, and on speed testing I was getting about 12-15Mbps. probably the worst connection in my house, deffo think its worth investing in a 5GHz upgrade.
Looking on the site it doesn't seem like there is an equivalent available. Will they be unable to replace it? I'm scared. Hold me fam
I'll always look back fondly on this time. Those heady days when I thought I was the proud owner of a MEDION® AKOYA® E2216 DR desktop PC... Before it was so cruelly taken away from me.
Things will never be the same. This is one of those life defining moments I guess. Just gotta take it one step at a time and try not beat myself up about it. I did the best anyone could have done in my situation.
I've set up a crowdfunding campaign seeking anyone who can offer support in the wake of this tragedy. Hope it's OK to post it here: http://imgur.com/a/4MvM7
Props to Medion for managing to replace it. There seemed to be some hiccups getting it sent out which was never really explained to me, but getting ahold of someone on the phone was surprisingly easy though.
