You'll need code 4K10
Delivery is Free and Next day, which is always a Billy bonus.

Hisense H49M3000 49" Smart 4K Ultra HD TV - Black - Here - £341.10
Hisense H43M3000 43" Smart 4K Ultra HD TV - Black Here - £296.10 (I think the cheapest it's ever been now)

Brill specs on these two models. Very similar all round apart from the obvious screen size differences there is just the slight difference in speaker output. The 49" has 16 Watt speakers whereas the 43" carries 14 Watt speakers. I'm guessing most folks here won't be overly fussed about that and many will probably use their own speaker set up.

Hisense are really churning out some decent sets lately, it's pretty hard to turn them down after looking at reviews as well. I used to have one back in 2008ish and at that point you very rarely saw them around. It lasted for ages, we only upgraded because we wanted a bigger screen. Comes with 2 Year Manufacturers warranty to boot, again... another plus point for sure.

HDR Info
HDR is Via USB only right now, but apparently these are due for a firmware update that should enable HDR further anyway.

Has anybody had a firmware update on this TV which has totally broken the TV tuner? Mine told me there was an update yesterday (G1207) so I decided to install it. Sadly now half of my channels have disappeared (DTV Freeview) and after doing a full re-tune they are all in the wrong order. I could probably manually sort them, but it will take a while as the interface is now so slow (due to the new EPG).

Is anybody else in the same boat?

The firmware that the french have is v00.01.00a.G0825, I installed it with a USB stick without problems, if the UK firmware does have localised changes I will just update again though the USB, would be shocked if hisense are making separate firmware for ever country so probably 100% the same.

Just spoke to Hisense Tech Support this afternoon and they are rolling out the UK Firmware for HDR10 over HDMI between now and the end of the 1st week of Oct. It's being done in batches, so you may get it anytime in this window.

They also recommended against installing the French Firmware, as it will disable any future OAT updates.

Bought this panel, been using it a few days. I absolutely love it. My only problems with it are 1. The stand is two little legs instead of one down the middle, which means I need to buy a new stand as my current one is too small. 2. It doesn't seem to read my USB 3.0 stick. It reads my 2.0 stick fine. Besides that, for the money it's absolutely incredible.

I've tried two different soundbars on my 49 inch M3000 (bought last week) and I simply can't get rid of around 50ms of lag. The video is ahead of the audio so none of the lip sync options work. I'm running my PS4 into the TV via HDMI, and an optical cable from the PS4 direct to the Soundbar. Also tried using HDMI Arc and various other settings but the audio is still slightly behind the video no matter what using any external speakers.

The audio is in sync with the video when I just use the tv speakers, but anything external gets audio delay :/ It's not much, but it's enough that it distracts.

Had the 43" version delivered today. Having a bit of a mare with it. It's connected to my PC which I've used with all my previous TVs without issue. The PC is running the Windows version of Kodi. The issue is that when I play back anything that's 720p it's random as to whether it works perfectly or the screen flickers. I can play a video without issue, stop it, play it again and the second time it flickers like mad or just shows a black screen. If I play something 1080p it's fine. If I then go back to the 720p it usually works again, but only the first time. I've tried the HDMI lead in all the ports, but it makes no difference.

Also causing me issues is the Harmony remote. Unfortunately the TV seems to re-order the input list based on most recently used first. This means my activities on the remote aren't working properly as the remote has no idea what order the input list is in and consequently keeps choosing the wrong input.

I'm not a an expert on tvs but I can't really notice any clouding. I've only just checked out a 1080p movie and my room is quite bright so I might need to look at it again at night to make sure.

On the input lag, does anyone know if it makes sense for the lag to be higher when outputting 4k from a computer then 1080p? I thought a TV would always display its max resolution and upscale so input lag would be consistent no matter what content was being sent to it.

11 Sep 16 #67
If they are true to their word then yes, it's nothing major just a simple software patch to change the spec of the hdmi port to 2.0a. The set is 10bit and hdr already works though the USB. There is also a hdr UHD test channel on the 19.2east satellite that works fine but for some reason the sound doesn't.

All i've done is increse text size in Windows settings. Got it on medium and am 2' away, better than my 1080p monitor.

Ensure you get HDMI 2.0, graphics card that outputs 4k. I bought a EVGA GTX950 as it was the cheapest at the time, last December, that was specifically made to run a 4k monitor. My comp isn't powerful enough to run games so can't comment on that side, but everything else is great. The recently updated You Tube 4k app is a sight to behold. I watched 2 hours of video from around the world just to marvel at the 4k.
simont_space
10 Sep 16 #57
Until they can reduce the lag/input to single digits it will be slow take up, but that only matters with games. I find smaller monitors restricting now. Anything bigger would mean having to actually turn your head to see edge to edge, seems strange but not the thing for monitors.

You won't need to scale anything.

4k on a 43" screen = 102 dpi
1080p on a 22" screen = 100 dpi

22" 1080p is a standard size - perfectly readable without scaling. 43" 4k will have the same text size.
mugen6
10 Sep 16 #51
So it runs 60hz at 4k? I really think using TVs as large monitors is the future, especially if it's just for work and not gaming. I currently use a 34" Dell 3440x1440 and got used to the size very quickly.

A curved 40" 4k monitor (or good enough TV) would be perfect.

This is a TV, not a monitor. Whilst they may look the same, they are very different. - You will find that most TV's have too much lag to be used as a monitor, game mode attempts to solve this by disabling the effects that get applied to the image such as sharpening, motion tweaks etc, but often its not quite enough and still presents some lag.

Never say never though, I have not used this particular set so the game mode might be okay on this. Parhaps best to be used as a second monitor for the odd games / movies to be played, but not likely to be good for a primary single use monitor.

Bought the 43" from argos when it was on offer....
Great tv ....did tweak the settings slightly to my own liking.
But if honest I wasn't expecting much.for the price but wow I was wrong. ..even the audio is half decent.
Mainly use it via my shield tv and tried the 4k on youtube that way and the picture was amazing! !!.
Was also surprised how good the upscaling was and the HD channels just via a.cheap ariel was good but when connected to my virgin box. ...another level.

Just a note of caution, a different one, re the HDR. If you look through the various threads the "firmware update" has been about a month away for about three months. I mean, it's just a computer program. That's all it is. Why is it taking this amount of time to come out?!

Does anyone have these sets with BT UHD? Read some posts that they lose the secure connection and box and TV have to be rebooted - truth or nonsense?!

Yes will do, don't know at what time but I will do it when I get the chance.

4K on the 55" looks absolutely brilliant and I don't have any screen issues as described above, not seen any clouding at all and the footy looks fab, even if it is just skyhd..

Upscaling is always going to be an issue with 4K TV's, some channels look fine upscaled and some others look truely awful*, then again the same channels looked bad on my old Sammy..

Watch out for clouding on this TV. Reviews from amazon-

"Purchased this tv when it was first introduced. It is 4K and great specs, everything seems to work fine.

However, it has horrible backlight clouding. (I have tried two, and both had the same issue) noticible on dark scene and at night, enough so that it really bothered me to send it back. Also it does have some issues with upscaling some content and can become very noisy."

"Ordered the 49" version, first one arrived with a cracked screen which was disappointing, Amazon, to their credit, were able to organise the courier to uplift the damaged set and drop off a replacement. Unfortunately i'm now requesting a refund on the 2nd tv for these reasons:

1). The backlight clouding on darker images is pretty horrendous tbh, if you're a horror movie aficionado then steer clear.
2). One of the hdmi ports doesn't function correctly.
3). Dark blemish under the screen near the centre of the tv, very noticeable when watching the footy.

It's a shame, the actual quality of picture through SkyHD is excellent but the backlight clouding alone kills it for me. Guess i'll be forking out a bit more and going back to Samsung - you get what you pay for.

Edit - just to add, Amazon's customer service was fantastic during the process even if the product wasn't."

On the spec sheet the only difference is that the m3300's have their version of AirPlay/equivalent built in to the semi-smart features. IIRC! But you wouldn't ever buy a TV to use smart features due to limitations anyway, you would stick a smart device into it

I have no such issue with mine, and definately no worse than any other VA Panel the wider you go.

If I get a chance over the weekend I will try to post what settings I have so you can compare somewhat, though I do appreciate everyone has different needs in this respect.

Got the 55" version last week, very impressed so far. Only gripe is the viewing angles are not great, look washed out even if you are at a slight angle. My 10 year old plasma had excellent viewing angles.

When I ordered mine at around 6pm today, the earliest delivery date was saying Sunday 11th.

So ordered and noticed I could change the date on the tracking page ( after you pay), it let me choose tomorrow (10th) and it's been loaded in the van already

Just thought I'd point this out Incase it helps anyone else.

Prob would have gone for the 49" however not too fond of AO return policy, can't be dealing with the hassle.

HDR10 is out of date. Dolby vision FTW. Oh wait, punters getting caught in a format war.....betamax/vhs, bluray/hd-dvd anyone. I would wait to see which format prevails, or if you want a bit of assurance - go with dolby as the higher spec.

I was looking at these sets last night, I'd buy one if I could find clarification that they will definitely receive a HDR firmwire update.

4K HDR for under £300, your having a laugh or on Meds..

Entirely pointless, the HDR update if it existed would not conform to Ultra HD Premium standard anyway, no way it would, or this would be bargain of the decade. Consumers are starting to be aware of HDR and think this acronym means something if it's printed on the box, it means nothing unless it conforms to an accepted standard.

I've been keeping my eye on the Hisense h50m3300 but is there much difference between that and the 49" here? all I can see is the refresh rates of 800 vs 60. Which should I pull the trigger on?

Ordered the 49" at £341, thanks op

I swore I wasn't going to buy from Ao due to their silly returns policy of up to 50% restocking fee if you open the box ! But surely this is illegal, i have ordered with my credit card so hope they cans help if I have issues.

1.5% quidco too.

Check what is chroma 4:2:2, because m3300 currently supports only this (red text is pain to read). Btw 50" is way to big to use as main monitor, imho. Maybe curved would be a bit better, but still not sure.. 40" must be perfect

I have a 40" Hisense as my main monitor. It's bloody huge!!

4K @ 60Hz. The only downside is there is a very slight, I am now used to it, delay with the mouse. I upgraded the firmware, use Game mode, bought a cheapish multi dpi mouse and played around with the settings in Windows until I found a setting I could live with. Didn't take long.

I don't play games on it so I have no idea how they play, but for general day to day use it is brilliant. Deadpool 4k was pretty spectaclar.

Does anybody know if the 49" is on demo anywhere? Just want to have a look and play considering sending it back if it's garbage looks like a no go.

John Lewis sell a limited HiSense range, but I took a punt on it when it was £354 the other day with a code, it gets delivered monday. It seems to get decent enough reviews on the AVForums
