no, there's not enough memory on the v2 to do that

No, a Chromecast doesn't not have any apps, none. It doesn't have any internal storage that can be utilised for this purpose. A Chromecast is a device that facilitates streaming, that's all it does. It's almost but not quite as simple as saying it's wireless HDMI.

This thread has some terrible misinformation, yours takes the biscuit! You obviously are clueless how a Chromecast actually works, your statement is absurd! It's got nothing to do with memory, a Chromecast doesn't have apps installed on it, it's solely to provide an interface to stream to. Why make stuff up and misinform people?

The Wuaki deal is indeed for the 2nd gen Chromecast as I bought one the other day it cost me £20 for the Chromecast and a digital film and they then give you a code to input on the Google play store which makes it free.
Not a great deal but got one yesterday and really useful. Streaming bt sport from my phone .

True, the offer started in November, release was in October. Although there was one in 2014 for the Chromecast 1, too.

It is not a deal. On launch, they were 20 pounds, with 15 pounds credit. Even now you can still get them around the 22 pound mark, with a free movie thrown in.

I got mine at launch and there was no 15 pound credit, I'm pretty sure this came later as I distinctly remember kicking myself for buying at launch.

Just want to say, I got the Chromecast and apart from the odd niggle where I have to unplug it it's great. However I've been using an amazon fire stick for the last few weeks and that's fab, it streams from my wd my cloud device (Kodi) and I've bought Eurosport for a month so I'm streaming the tennis on my TV. Lots of progs to watch too. The big plus is if you've prime it comes with content and it's not reliant on your devices casting so I don't have my laptop fans going full tilt.

I'm not wrong, I was commenting on the groupon deal actually, if you look in the specs, it states "Wireless standards: 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11n 2.4GHz only)" which is why I still think it's the 1st generation version. 2nd gen supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz wavelengths, not to mention the newer ac standard which is missing from the spec sheet.
Although it doesn't help that my quote only copied in the first part of the deal. Ie the Wuaki deal. Doh!

You are wrong. I have a 1st gen Chromecast, the picture on Wuaki clearly shows a 2nd gen Chromecast. See the pictures I provided in post #8
Anyway here's some news on the Chromecast 4K version >

New Chromecast rumours suggest 3rd gen is dealing in a few weeks, and will be 4k. Hopefully, these 2nd gen may drop in price soon..

That's for the 1st generation Chromecast. The OP posted a link for the 2nd generation which has far superior WiFi connectivity. That said I'm personally still running the 1st generation version, which is great, unless I'm using the microwave oven at the same time
