£10 including vat per tyre, please note you will not be able to take these to your local Kwik fit or halfords etc as they only fit what they sell. if you buy a tyre off the web you must make sure you have a good nearby garage who will fit at a reasonable cost otherwise any real savings are lost
perfect timing, for my Renault kangoo (with the higher load rating). my local independent garage charges £10 to fit incl new valve and balance making it £40 all in.

I spoke to Kwik Fit and they pointed out the massive difference between their drop in prices and their online prices, but, in comparison to an independent, they sting you for the cost of recycling your old tyres.. I suppose that means they don't burn them round the back though?

How do garages feel about u taking your own tyres in to fit. My local want £180 per tyre but I can get them online for £100 each?
Some garages turn their noses up at you, some don't care and are happy to fit your tyres for £10 a corner.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't bother with summer only tyres any longer. All season tyres are so good in so many conditions that it seems false economy. Our last main car had them and it was perfectly happy on Scottish hill roads covered in snow. Getting them for our MX5 next. Should be fun driving on snow covered roads with the hood down. Good deal though.

If I was doing a small milage then I probably would do the same. But it's a better solution to have different sets if you can. I get considerably longer (mileage) life out of summer tyres only using them in the summer. The only downside of using winter wheels is that once you are a convert you are for life and every car has two sets of wheels. Not a problem if you are keeping the car for several years but with many people leasing for 2 years the outlay many not be worth it.

i agree with Gavin's comments. All season tyres don't perform as well as summer tyres in summer and winter tyres in winter. You will suffer from lower fuel economy, longer stopping distances and higher wear to name a few challenges. if its low mileage 2nd or 3rd car, then the comprises may be acceptable?

Can confirm, tyre garage local to me looked at me as if I had killed their pet when I brought my own in once and very nearly said no thanks.
They are always busy so I guess my custom wasn't necessary. Ended up paying 40 for fitting and balancing which more or less speed of the saving I made by buying online anyway.
Still use them but have a friend there now who gives me trade price which is a happy compromise for both parties

Yes that is why cross climate tyres have their advantages. Many winter tyre owners have like me a second set of wheels. Steel wheels are good for winter as you don't have to worry about cleaning them and the salt eating your alloys.
Also depends on where and when you drive. If you work 9-5 in an office in a city then you are likely to have less need than say shift workers that work out of town.

I bought 2 of these from blackcircles for £100 including fitting. My Astra needed 225/50 R17 W (98) and these were the best quality tyres I could find.

Thanks. I like the look of the nexen but have 4 fresh continental 5 on the car but one has a chip on the sidewall which failed the mot so best to get same one. Shame on the Mercedes dealer who sold me the car with tyre in such condition.
