I've only got a 670gtx, but according to Digital Foundry, I should still get better performance than a PS4.

Figured I might as well go for the deal... Especially when it's nearly half the price of the standard PS4 version.

Edit: just discovered that it's the GoG version. Which sucks as I wanted the Steam version. I doubt I will be eligible for a refund, but have asked for one anyway...

why are all these Witcher deals only on GoG want Steam...

I bought The goty version on gog.com by mistake as well.
I'd thought wth, I'll try it and it turns out to be a much better piece of software than Steam, using less resources etc.
I'm now running both Steam and gog galaxy and all is fine.

If you want the DLC for cheap, just buy from GOG.com with a Russian VPN. CDKeys is basically the same thing, but you're also paying a middle man for the privilege of feeling less like you're ripping off CDPR.

Season pass was £8.99 last December and wasn't even voted a hot deal!

I'd want it on Steam though not GOG, anyway that's helpful for anyone that doesn't care. I've got Steam, uPlay and Origin, I certainly don't want another download platform.

That's my biting point. Not that worried about the GOTY - if I like the game I'll buy it when it's on offer too and if I don't then I've not wasted my cash on something I'll never play.

Weird. I can certainly grasp the convenience of having all of your games in a single client, but can't understand those who'd rather pay more (and it's a lot more on Steam at the moment) or, weirder yet, not get a game at all because of it. It takes all of 10 seconds to add GOG games so they appear listed in the Steam client.

I wonder how they'd have coped pre-steam when there were no clients and all games had to be managed individually?

Of course people coped, I certainly did. But when you get the option of all your games in one basket you take it. You seem to miss the importance of such platforms, there's more games than ever now, and separate games before Steam which also was pre-broadband for most UK users meant don't lose the packaging/serial numbers etc, wasn't so much of a problem back then. These days it's very much different, imagine no platforms, it would be a right mess. Steam is the leading platform, the rest are crap in comparison. Platform diversification then becomes an issue, more platforms more mess, less control. There's pros and cons to it, but I prefer as many games as possible in one client.

I bought it on GoG originally for £35 then bought it on steam when it went on sale for £33. The big issue with the GoG version was how it handled new updates, when I left galaxy to update the game it just broke the entire install and needed redownloading not to mention that galaxy itself was plain awful. Standalone the game was impossible to download as GoG downloader got phased out and if I tried to download it overnight in chrome by the morning the download would be cancelled for some reason. Steam version has been absolutely trouble free since purchase including DLC, plus I like the achievements, screenshots and cloud saves. I don't regret the original GoG purchase as I just see it as a small donation for making an incredible game.

You're missing the point of GoG a client is not required, there is no drm. GoG Galaxy is available for if you want to use it.

I don't. I would much prefer to not have steam installed at all never mind running all the time. That isn't an option because steam exists to enforce DRM.

I actually tried the Russian VPN thing out of curiosity, zenvpn give a free trial. £11.58 instead of £20 for the expansion pack on gog.com itself.

Voted hot. Bought steam key on ebay for £16.50 4 months ago. Started playing it 3 weeks ago. 120 hours of gameplay later. Wow amazing game. Only level 25 so far and so much left to do. Am looking forward to completing the base game and then replaying NG+ with Nexus Mods. Hopefully by the time i am done with this, the DLC will come on sale. I would usually regret buying a game and have it sit in my library and then watch it get cheaper and cheaper.... that hurts, but I like that this has got cheaper. More people will experience what I have experienced. By far the best story telling i have seen since Alan Wake. Movement is a bit clunky like GTA V and combat system could be better, but those are small things compared to the good things. Also I bought Steam key when GOG key was cheaper on said auction site and key sites. I prefer having Steam do all my updates and always fast downloads. Call it OCD, oh and i got steam achievements and some trading cards which i sold for 27p each, so i think it worked out cheaper than GOG key at the end.... please support Projekt Red, rather give my money to them than EA.

But to start Steam In-Home Streaming you need to start streaming a game through Steam. Once you exit that game, the stream stops. Does that mean I'd need to leave a game running, minimised, in the background to play this through In-Home Streaming?

Yes! Or start a game which has a launcher i.e. skyrim, hitman, and dont press play, but press alt+tab and control your host from the client. Some good ideas here

Nice to know... GoG refunded me earlier today, but I'll be making sure that I pick up a Steam code during the Xmas sales (if not earlier).
