Thinking of buying this just for the engine to make a little go cart for the kids (or possibly just for myself..)

You think that a major supermarket chain would say it's a Briggs & Stratton when it isn't? Hmm...
Also, it looks exactly like a Briggs and Stratton 450E.

You may have issues with it being a vertical shaft, i'd imagine it would be easier with a horizontal shaft.

Op is in Wales, think this came out in March and "selected stores" probably means those that had any left from when it first came out.

Yes but you should be able to see it in the Thursday section online if they were to sell it (I'm assuming)

Yeah sorry my mistake, selected stores. If you go to the website and enter your postcode and select your store it'll tweak the deals and exclude what's unavailable.

Ah ok to clear up the confusion, I've just had a look at various random stores. It seems the ones that DON'T have the mower have the 4 in 1 petrol multi tool in it's place.
It might be just the Welsh stores.
I've tried Swansea, Cardiff & Newport which all have the mower.
Bristol & London have the 4 in 1 multi tool.

Pembroke Dock has these if anyone is interested, I'm tempted but my old Briggs & Stratton is gogin strong still, its the rest of it thats eroding but the engine starts every time, also I think if i was replacing I would want a Self Propelled.
LIDL
Pembroke Dock

Doesn't look like any Briggs i've ever used or worked on.
I'd check out the engine before you rush to buy one, plenty second hand older, solid Briggs powered mowers out there.

Not self propelled by the looks of the picture. I've got the self propelled version of this and there are two control bars on the handle. One for engine and the other for self propel.

Yeah self propelled and they give you £200 cashback. What more do you want.

Why none anywhere but Wales ..?
Strange move by any retailer if you ask me.
You'd also think with all those sheep in Wales the last thing they would need is a glut of mowers.

Lidl's stuff is often regional.
As someone who lives in Swansea, I'm afraid there's no sheep for at least 2 miles. I'd ask the dragons, but they've been busy lately. So the grass will have to be dealt with by the human.
I'll have to find time to mow the lawn between all the rugby, choir singing, coal mining, and finding out exactly who's coat is that jacket hanging up there on the floor.
Bloody tidy, mun.

OP here, got my mower! Though they aren't on sale until tomorrow, I went up about 20 mins before close to pick up some evening snacks, and they had the mowers out in preparation. I asked if I could buy one now and they were ok with it.
I was right, it's definitely a Briggs & Stratton 450E. Got some pics if anyone's interested. Haven't fired it up yet obviously, as it's late.

Does anyone know how far I'd have to travel to get one of these ? I live in Huddersfield.
Or if anyone else is interested in getting one and live close to me I'd pay towards fuel costs. Thanks

Just measured it now. 74cm x 44cm x 54cm.
Done my first grass cut with mine this morning. Great mower. It folds reasonably compact for storage. I've only got a 6x4 shed and I've got a strimmer, 4m ladder and a bike in there amongst other junk already so I'm glad it's pretty compact.
Brilliant. Thanks for measuring up Rory. Hopefully will be able to get one this afternoon.

The answer is no, Bill. I've checked the store checker for Lincoln and the 4 in 1 multi tool is there instead of the mower as mentioned in post #12 if the 4 in 1 is there the mower won't be. These things generally sell out within the first few hours of store opening on the deal day anyway so you need to be quick with the Lidl deals.
Cheers.
