£90 in many places, and this has a 2 year guarantee (Currys/PCW are 1 year).

The deal is in the mind if the OP. Hence why we vote. If someone was just about to go into PC world and buy one then the OP has possibly got them an extra years warranty.

Actually all fitbits have a 2 year guarantee, its not something JL are adding as an extra

When I went in to the John Lewis it was showing the added care as complimentary. Since then the site has changed. :disappointed:

i think it's the title which is misleading as it doesn't appear the 79.99 is the deal but more the 2 year guarantee.

I think this will be the new normal price as it dropped to £79 on Amazon the other day probably due the HR2 version coming out.

Can someone tell me how something 4 x the price of other bands is worth it? WHat does this do that a Mi band 2 doesn't?

I'm on my 2nd replacement since November 2015 purchase, last time was for this bubble issue...luckily I only paid £50 for mine in a black friday deal so I don't feel too bad.

I have the Xiaomi band which is available for £10 http://www.gearbest.com/smart-wristband/pp_259237.html?wid=21and my Wife has this Fitbit model. Reviews would suggest they are on par with each other so why spend another £50 on this. My Wifes Fitbit strap broke and I managed to glue it back together. I would say it cost a few pence for the strap and about £0.10 for the casing and internal software to put these things together. What a total rip off.

Two years eh? That's about 23 months longer than I've heard anyone wear a smart watch!

It is not a smart watch, it is a fitness band. I wore my first gen Polar Band for two years solid, every single day and upgraded to Garmin Vivosmart HR+ in July this year. I was afraid of the Fitbit rash but Garmin has given me rash as well. My skin has become more used to it now. I have noticed that rash was less severe on the side of the strap where it has perforations/ holes where as the buckle side of the strap has no holes and this is where the most damage to the skin is done. Fitbit has a solid strap with no holes. I can imagine the severity of rash under an all round solid strap with no air circulation under it.

I've had my Charge HR for well over a year and never had a problem. Paid £65 for it and think I made a good purchase.

Love my fitbit HR but the build quality is awful, I'm on my 3rd replacement one in 9 months. The straps fall to pieces, however the fitbit customer support is excellent and they honoured a replacement each time. 2 year warranty makes this a good deal in my opinion.

Bear in mind the Charge HR heart rate monitor is beyond useless, to the point that there is a class action lawsuit in america taking place. Mine works well at rest, but during a work out it never really shows above 105bpm, so it is pretty useless for checking recovery rates or assessing calories burnt at the gym.....

Also i've had to replace two of them due to the plastic coating eventually "bubbling" off and making it look terrible.
