Heat. Dyson at £150 is a really good buy. After many years, we are on our third Dyson and never had a day's trouble. Fantastic machines.

I bought one in argos thinking it would be great as it's a dyson however it is very cheap feeling and feels more like a kids toy it does have a powerful suction but the main hoover only picks up very small parts so you need to use the pipe quite often and this is not long enough to do most tasks such as the stairs

Quite possibly just upgrading, we have had 3 Dysons in around 8-9 years plus a v6 handheld.
Given how much better they have gotten over the years it can't be that uncommon?

Have you thought about getting a upright Sebo? They last for years and years and are excellent vacuum cleaners.
Dyson I wouldn't have one if it was a gift. That's just my opinion after owning a Dyson that lasted just over a year and needed new motor.

They're definitely £150, I literally just went in (10 minutes ago) for one myself. They have just reduced them further from £200 so maybe some staff aren't aware of that yet. They had 3 left on the shelf when I went in.

It's a good price but it's not really suitable as a main upright for a whole house, it is aimed more towards those who live in flats or need a lightweight hoover, the size sacrifices the power cord, hose and bin size all being smaller/shorter than other dysons. The newer model called the small ball has made a few improvements including a longer power cord, longer hose and the pipe/handle is now made of metal instead of plastic making it more stable but it costs twice the price of this.

Still on my Origin DC08 from 2001 an utterly superb cleaner!

Agreed, we've had a DC01 from the mid nineties and only upgraded to a DC25 in 2008, both are still in use! Only had to replace the hose in the DC01 after a tear appeared and they fitted a new plug at the same time (which they did to all of the original round plugs as far as I can tell).
