We have one of these in red and I have to say it's rubbish. While it is true that the inner ring is handy to keep the bin bag in place, the bin itself is made out of really cheap plastic with a "metal effect".
Furthermore, the awkward shape makes it very difficult to get the bin bag out of it, especially when it is full. So make sure to get strong bin bags or you might rip them as you get them out. (and don't forget to put your back into it if when you ATTEMPT to get the bin bag out!)
Personally, if I had to choose again, I wouldn't go for this.
I've got the red one and it's great. It has an inner lining to keep the edges of the bag hidden and secure. It also uses standard-sized bags - I've found the white Kirkland ones from Costco to be a perfect fit, not like some bins that try to make you buy their own brand custom bags. Size is good and the design means that we can have it on the wall in front of the fridge, and it stays out of the way and doesn't obstruct anything.

Apparently it's a known fault but we haven't been affected. You can write to the company who makes the bin and they send out a replacement lid free.

I bought the silver one a couple of months ago. Has been fine so far, though it would benefit from some way to release the vacuum when emptying.

Yeah I've been considering that, can't decide how big the aperture needs be though.

I can't imagine it needs to be very big, it's just air. Start small and make it a little bigger if it's not good enough?

Can I return the spoons after the delivery?

Got the red one and its much more practical than the old more expensive steel one I used to have.

Decent price but ideally for kitchen use a bin should be no touch due to contamination transfer from the lid
I'd only ever use a pedal or sensor bin in a kitchen environment

We've had the red one for a few years but the plastic closing nub came off after a few months. I was able to fix it but about a year on, it has completely broken and it won't close now. Was thinking of getting a new one because they do look nice but may try writing to the company like ph1981 recommends. Thanks for the deal.
I have the Ivory version and I also purchased an Ivory version from Homebase about 8 years ago. That one was better than the new version because the new versions have a modified (cheaper) design and the bottom does not sit flat ie it wobbles on the laminated flooring. The previous version did not have that problem. The latch mechanism never failed on my earlier version, it broke because I threw a glass bottle into the bin hard (temper) and it hit the top and shattered it. A costly mistake especially as the new versions are inferior to the old.
I use black bin bags in mine which fit very well and are cheap. I have found that many bags do not fit well due to the height of the bin but black bags fit very well. Avoid bags with handles as they are terrible.
Hadn't thought of doing that as my 'conteract' was with Argos, whose customer service/aftercare is CARP!. Will write to manufacturer as fortunately I still have the lidless bin using it in my shed to store odds and ends. Thanks for that PH91!
