I bought one of these for £7.50 in Aldi Consett yesterday which I think is pretty good.

Yeah appreciate campags are different, but if you're buying a cheap tool set like this chances are you don't own a campag equipped bike.

I'm not sure that's right; I've got two cassette tools, one fits Campag cassettes, the other fits Shimano cassettes. They're not interchangeable.

​Yes, hence why I said that it wasn't the right tool. I actually had one that fits, but it was with my father. Slightly different, but enough that the one with this pack didn't work but the other fit perfectly

I have a 7 speed freewheel and have tool that has two nibs that locate on the two slots on the freewheel then put back on the quick release skewer and tighten, then using a large adjustable spanner on the removal tool turn anti-clockwise.Never fail if you put some grease on thread before putting freewheel on.

Actually I think I bought a very similar looking set a few years ago from Halfords, that was rubbish so I returned it. You can get fairly decent tools singly off ebay, esp freewheel/cassette tools/chain extractor etc for not tha much money.

All cassettes should be the same, remember for a cassette you need a chain whip tool (or you can make your own one with a bit of wood and bike chain) to stop the cassette turning whilst you unscrew it. Freewheels don't need one but need a different tool and an old freewheel can be very tough too remove if it's welded itself to the thread on the hub. One way is to clam the tool in a vice and turn the wheel around the vice to get decent leverage. It's a good idea to put some copper grease on the threads when you replace though, for easy removal next time.

Really? I have 1 tool that has done all Shimano or basic SRAM cassettes for years inc. modern bikes and some from late 80s early 90s. The only bike I have not tried it on is my most recent Trek with SRAM x11, I think that may be different.

Any way, an Aldi tool kit got me learning to fix my own bike, so it's a great start, but you will soon be replacing stuff.

My chain extractor went, chain whip went, cassette tool was improved etc. Still using the bottom bracket and crank puller for older and more basic square taper chain sets.

I would buy this to get you going, but bin the rubbish Allen keys and spend a tenner or more getting a decent set.

The Aldi stuff will get you going along with some YouTube videos or ParkTool guides. In no time you will be fixing bikes, changing parts and building new bikes from scratch

I bought one and the tool to remove the cassette tool wouldn't fit either of the cassettes on the bikes I needed :disappointed:

Got one from my local Aldi for £5.99 last week.

I changed a bottom bracket with this kit with no problems

Aldi reductions are store specific.
I have this kit: useful to get so many special tools in one, cheap kit for emergency repairs but don't expect too much from it: some of the tools are little more than 'single use only'. Not surprising really when many decent bike tools cost more than this for a single tool.

Good price, don't expect too much though, the end of the crank puller went to mush on it first outing for me!

Bargain. I'll have to cycle down to my local Aldi though I'm pretty sure they don't do stuff like that.
