I work in a restaurant that has just started trialling deliveries using Deliveroo, and I personally have a few answers for these comments:
Deliveroo is more expensive, but the restaurants pick the price, and it covers the royalties Deliveroo charge
Deliveroo take payment and deliver, so all we do is accept the order, get it ready, and hand it over
It is a good business model, and is working well. It is better for the companies that otherwise wouldn't be able to deliver, and customers will pay extra for the convenience

There was a report on Channel 5 earlier today re Deliveroo. Apparently, as well as charging for delivery, they have been boosting the prices on the menus. 15% increase on the actual restaurant prices. Bit of a liberty considering they don't cook the food, provide tables, wash up. maintain the cooking equipment etc.

Of course they do, I thought that was obvious. They are not going to make money charging £2.50 per delivery. The driver wouldn't even get minimum wage.

not much point the restaurants doing all that for delivery orders if they cant deliver it though....

It's actually off a £17.50 spend, as it's "£7 off your order", "minimum spend of £15 where applicable and charge of £2.50 (Deliveroo fee) applies"
