I hear you can buy the Xbox One you get the PC version for free with it ?
How does this work with trading in then, as in could you not just get your free copy then trade in/return the xbox copy? Or does it not work that way some how?

When you buy a physical copy you do not get the Xbox Play Anywhere "experience" (Xbox One + Windows 10). Only digital copies work with Xbox Play Anywhere.
